Cheeseburger kids meal with a side of deep fried pickles
    Katy S.

I freaking love Harvey's, and am really sad that we don't have it in the U.S. Every time I visit Toronto, I make it a point to stop here on my way home. While Harvey's has all the makings of every other fast food burger joint, there's just something about it that ranks it way higher as compared to most (in my book at least). They just redid this one in the past 8 months or so, and it looks great. They keep it really clean, and I've never walked in and had one of those "ew" moments due to trash being everywhere or whatnot. There's also a Swiss Chalet that's connected in the same building, which could be convenient if you come with someone that's trying to eat a healthier. Food is pretty good as well. I usually stick with the kids cheeseburger meal, as it's plenty of food for someone that prefers their portions a little smaller. If you get one of the "adult" meals, hope you're hungry because some of them are pretty big. They even have "acceptable" veggie burgers here. Not quite my thing, but I usually travel with a vegetarian who's pretty picky about her veggie burgers and she loves them. It's a little higher priced than most fast food places I've frequented, but this also be only because I'm used to seeing U.S prices.. The addition of deep fried pickles to the menu is awesome. Even if you don't want 4 to yourself, they're big enough to get an order to split as a mini appetizer. Only reason I gave this 4 stars is because the past couple of times I've come, my fries were on the cold & soggy side.

This past week, I had a burger craving so opted for the Bacon and Cheddar burger. They were able to sub with Swiss Cheese, but I wish they offered a classic Swiss cheese and mushroom burger, or elevated it with aioli. These options were only available with the Bison burger. The regular burger was tasty and moist as usual, but I probably had 2 days' worth of calories in the one meal - my own fault. I was hungry. There was an abundance of fried onion straws - too much actually, so I removed quite a lot to my plate. Next time, I will stick with the classic burger. Service was fair - our server seemed to have the majority of tables in another section and out of view. We were her only table on the one side, so it was a bit difficult to get her attention. Atmosphere and decor was good. Over the years, I've been disappointed that Turtle Jack's in general has changed and reduced their classic menu choices. I used to love their Apple Brie Burger with special sauces, bruschetta with reduced balsamic vinaigrette, and brunch menu. I'm sure it was more labour-intensive so I get it, but it was the reason that this restaurant stood out from the rest in its early years. I will try their dusted chicken wings again in the future. I have seen other reviews where they changed their recipe, so I hope that they didn't alter a good product.

Service from the bartender was great. He offered up some suggestions, which I needed because they have a large menu loaded with so many appetizing and amazing looking options. I started with their potstickers... They came out with a hard, fried shell and the dipping sauce went nicely with them. Enough to share, or even enough to enjoy and still have room for an entrée. My main dish was their Chicken & Waffle. This isn't some ordinary chicken and waffle, it's definitely an amped up version, made with unique and interesting ingredients, culminating in great flavors! The chicken was so large and very tender - it was amazing! The bacon and sauce on top went with it nicely, and the chive waffle was great with it! Each bite was definitely amazing! This was a great experience, I can see why they have so many reviews and such high stars, those are well-deserved stars!! Definitely recommend stopping in here!

The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, which made it even more enjoyable. I ordered fried calamari along with single chicken wings tossed in an Asian sweet and spicy sauce--both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. The combination of crispy textures and bold flavors really stood out. What made the experience even better was the service. Our server was amazing--attentive, friendly, and truly great at her job. She made us feel welcome from the start. I always enjoy trying new places, and this visit did not disappoint. If you're looking for an American restaurant near Niagara Falls, this is definitely worth trying. We ended the meal with a delicious dessert, which was the perfect sweet finish to a great experience.

The Olde Angel is no exception. I love the history of the building and the quainess of the restaurant and bar. Have spent a lot of my life coming here and have always loved. The food today was not great. I wanted Shepherds pie and was told the mashed potatoes arent gluten free. I dont know what one does to mashed potatoes to make them not gluten free?!?!?!?! A bit shocking and that isnt really Shepherds pie. I was told I could have rice but that REALLY isnt Shepherds pie. Lol. So I opted for a burger no roll. The burger was overcooked. I shoveled it in and called it a night. We sat in the bar at a long table and a wonderful couple ended up sitting with us and pretty much we all had dinner together and talked. Was really nice. I would definitely say go and experience the history and from what I hear the fish and chips and the Shepherds pie are great if u can eat them. Lol. You won't be disappointed but go and take in the rest of Niagara on the Lake for a day too.

It is winter so it should be assumed we have coats. There were no coat hooks or coat check....surprising for such a beautiful and upscale place. The coats crowded our seats. They were kind enough to accommodate my need for water with meals by leaving a kettle with water for me. They do not leave jugs but our server, Snow, replenished the water for others regularly.. she was friendly, helpful and funny. Since I need vegan and gluten free the only items I could have were the salad without feta, yellow dal without ghee and plain rice. The fam loved the Afghan chicken tikka and paneer item they ordered. My dal was made without ghee as requested but was on the spicy side. The fam shared the chocolate cake and rabri desserts but zero vegan/gluten free dessert items. The decor is lovely and everyone was very professional. The meal was very expensive....well over $400 for 1 alcohol drink, 2 mocktails, 3 apps, 3 mains with 2 rice, 2naan and 1 parantha and 2 desserts. Hopefully you get Snow as your server as she was a delight. There was no DJs or live entertainment the night we went but they do have it on certain nights. It got very busy while we were there with folks of all ages. You can bring your own cake but they charge $5pp to serve it.
