I absolutely love stopping in here from time to time whenever I can make it in time before they close. It's small so the place is always a bit crowded on the inside. Like almost elbow to elbow crowded at times. But their pastries are just delicious. My favorite is their cheese cake with strawberries on top and from time to time they have these AMAZING cheddar jalapeño soft pretzels. Worth a stop! read more

I will start with saying that your rolls and coffee cakes are amazing along with other pastry ..But the woman who waited on us was overwhelmed with only 3 customers in the Bakery and kept yelling for help asking if she was the only one working and was very disturbing. She finally waited on us but was very short and not informative about some of the baked goods in your case . I also paid cash had a Yelp coupon that she would not honor and was very rude about it. I have to update my review for this bakery. That review was from a long time ago back when I was just staring to write reviews. I believe it's time this bakery gets the credit they deserve. I did not realize how extensive their bakery was. Everything from sugar and chocolate chip cookies to cupcakes, brownies, cinnamon rolls, cake, sugar free options, donuts, coffee, eclairs, and more...and everything I've tried from this place is beyond amazing. Everything is fresh and you can just tell when you take a bite. I have the biggest sweet tooth ever and this place can satisfy any craving. I'm glad I'm about 20 minutes away--not too close to indulge too much but close enough to pick up a treat every so often. Also: workers were super friendly and helpful. Love that! Had a moment of nostalgia as i was about to pass & pulled in. Always used to bring home treats for the fam on the way home. On my way to visit the crew @ MamaLukes & felt generous so picked up a whole variety of things for them. the 3 behind the counter were eager to please, always asking "who hasn't been waited on yet?!" this young woman that waited on me was a master at organizing all the picks into the box. Very disappointed. I have been going to this bakery for years and never disappointed until today. I ordered a cake for a special occasion, and so disappointed. The shape of it was off, looked like some pieces of it had been damaged and the icing was used to cover it up. Speaking of icing, it had zero flavor, AND the cake part itself was so stale and dry! The hand written message on it went over the edge into the border and the handwriting was not on par ( it looked like a kid wrote it). I was just saying to my husband today, it is so nice to have an actual bakery as opposed to the grocery store chains that have been putting bakeries out of business. It is sad to say, but I wished I had ordered this cake from the grocery store, it would have been better. This special milestone will always be remembered by the stale, crappy cake from Harvest. DON'T purchase Gluten Free Cupcakes from Harvest Bakery, Bristol CT When I found out I had Celiac Disease, I was desperate to find a bakery that made gluten free cupcakes. Harvest Bakery in Bristol, CT did, and they were really good. In fact, they tasted better than regular cupcakes. 1 1/2 years ago, I was going to a party and decided to bring a dozen GF cupcakes with colored frosting, (mainly because I wanted them ). When I got to the party, I tried one and it was horrible. It tasted strange. Unfortunately, other people had grabbed a few but I took the rest away (thinking something was wrong with them). I brought them back to the store the next day and as soon as they saw them, they said, "These aren't gluten free". I was so angry, but they offered me store credit and I figured, everyone makes mistakes. 6 months later, we had another party to go to. Again, I ordered a dozen GF cupcakes but this time, I gave specific instructions, to make sure they were going to be gluten free. I opened the box, and they looked colorful, so I paid for them and went to the party. Only to discover (after tasting one), that they were not gluten free!... again!!! I was so angry; I just threw them out. I should have brought them back but instead I vowed to never go back there again. One year later (this past weekend), I needed to bring gluten free cupcakes to a party. I called Harvest (since it's the only place I knew that sold GF cupcakes near me). This time I asked the person to bold the words gluten free, star them, and let the baker know that they had to be GF. I called during the week to make sure the order was still correct, and they read it back to me; letting me know the stars and bold lettering were there. After picking them up, we went to the party. I took one out, split it in half and I could tell they were not gluten free.... again!!!! (I can't tell by looking at them with the frosting, but I could tell when I split them open). When I brought them back to the bakery, they could tell right away that they were not gluten free. If they can identify them that easily, why are they not able to readily identify them when they are being packaged for pick up? I understand there are those that just want to be "gluten free" however for those of us that have true allergies, eating gluten can be DANGEROUS to our health. For such a reputable company to make such a huge mistake not once, but three times, is unacceptable. I'm not sure how the other bakery items are at Harvest but I think they should get out of the gluten free side of it. After they investigated the order, I was finally able to go back and pick up my refund. Do yourself a favor, if you need gluten free cupcakes, don't go to Harvest Bakery. Go to Cake Gypsy (I finally found a better place!!!). Their cupcakes taste better, and the people there really care about their customers and their allergies. I will not be going back to Harvest Bakery or recommending them to anyone. read more

I've stopped here for birthday/celebration treats in the past but was freshly reminded of how great Harvest is when my husband brought home a box of assorted confections yesterday. The cannoli and lemon-filled cupcake are my absolute favorites, and the enormous cream puff (or zeppole?) can't be beat.It's rich, flaky, and I challenge you to eat it all in one sitting. I sampled a few other cupcakes but they paled in comparison to the aforementioned treats - still GOOD but a little too sugary. Stopped by last week based on reviews I saw on Yelp and an errand that brought me to Bristol. The bakery is small and old school like to the previous reviews state. I love that. I ended up getting 4 donuts and 2 cupcakes. Everything was fresh and delicious! Very impressed with the quality. I saw breads, bagels, cakes pies. I ordered a sugar free birthday cake. Asked for pink and lavender colors assuming it would be decorated with flowers. There were no flowers at all and only the writing was in pink. Very disappointed in appearance and looked very plain. Needless to say I will not be ordering from this place again. I could have decorated it myself. read more

Doughnuts loaded with so much stuff, They fit in your hand and are perfectly puffed. Service was nice and extremely quick, Now let's all eat doughnuts until we get sick. Came on a Sunday morning for breakfast. I ordered a "Reverse Boston Cream" doughnut which was topped with vanilla cream and PACKED with light, sweet, creamy chocolate goodness. The amount of cream in there could fill an entire 12 oz bottle. I liked the combo of vanilla and chocolate; very unique. The only negative was that the exterior was very spongy and doughy such as those served at Dunkin. A good doughnut is a slightly crispy doughnut. I also got a "Custard Filled" doughnut, which was their take on a typical Boston Cream. Once again, loaded with custard, but still easy to eat given its compact size. The iced coffee was just OK. They had plenty of nice, efficient employees, so we were in and out. For 4 pastries and 2 or 3 iced coffees I only paid about $10. Nice! Gotta save that paper stuff. read more

My family and I have been coming here for over twenty years, and it is safe to say that Harvest has stayed the same, consistently making the best and most delicious baked goods around. From breads, to cookies, to cakes and cupcakes, Harvest has it covered!! It even offers gluten free treats, including cupcakes. Everything is baked perfectly and made to perfection, and always fresh!! The sprinkle butter cookies are so outstanding and taste as they did twenty years ago--melt in your mouth sweet (but not overly so) perfection. These cookies always make me feel good, and help when I have a restless stomach. The plain sugar cookies--which are a good 5 inches in diameter (a perfect and generous size) also melt in your mouth; they are so fresh they break apart the second you open the baggie they are nicely wrapped in and bite into them. So. Good. Each cookie, no matter what kind, is soft and easy to chew. Also delicious and a classic are the lemon cupcakes, which are sweet, but not too sweet with great flavor and lightness, and are simply perfection. The prices for these baked treats are very, very reasonable, especially for the generous amounts you receive!! The staff at Harvest is very friendly and efficient. When we visit, there is always a staff member asking if s/he can help us the second we walk in. It's a family owned and run place, and has withstood the test of time because of these hardworking individuals. The only problem with Harvest--if you really need to find one--is that it is a relatively small place, stretching long in a rectangle with no area to sit and munch on your delicious treats. It's more of a take your goods home bakery, but my favorite is to take my stash up to Buster's Drive-In, get a Michigan hot dog, and snack in my Harvest goodies for dessert!! But if a lack of someplace to sit is the only problem, does it really matter, especially with treats so outstandingly amazing and tasty? It is, hands down, worth a trip to Harvest Bakery. I live almost an hour away, but that doesn't stop me from going almost every other week. Once you taste their baked goods, you will find yourself craving them and wanting more!! 2nd time I've been to the Harvest Bakery in Bristol. This morning, went with some pastries, ordered all three of the "specialty sticks". Brought them home, honestly, we were not impressed. Very bland and flavorless, a bit dry too. Maybe it's an acquired taste, but I'm just not feeling that my opinion will change in the future concerning those specialty sticks. We moved to the area a year ago and visited for the first time today. Such a great little bakery. The people working there were so nice and personable. They came around the counter to talk to my toddler and gave him a free cookie (that he absolutely devoured). Their cases were filled with delicious looking pastries and donuts, it was hard to choose what to get. We bought mini cannolis and raspberry tart bars for an event. They were delicious. Not a crumb was left. We also got an iced coffee that was delicious. We got it black and the flavor was bold but not too bitter. Other than pastries and donuts they had muffins (even some vegan muffins!), bagels, bread, pretzels (regular and some with cheese on top), cakes, cookies... After going here for over 40 years, we were very disappointed this time! I will always give Harvest the benefit of the doubt, but the woman that took care of us was very rude and had to ask all of the young girls working the counter for assistance and we had to repeat our order multiple times. She didn't even know how to use the register to check us out, so we had to wait for someone to help her. As for the donuts that we bought and love, except for this latest time, because the Boston cream had just about no cream in it and hardly any chocolate on top. We definitely will go back, but I hope that things are back to normal the next time we go and service is a lot better. read more

Ordered & paid for a cake on July 1, 2023 for July 29, 2023. Today, July 28, 2023, Harvest Bakery calls to inform me that their ovens have been broken since Monday, so no cake for tomorrow & once Harvest Bakery is open, then I can go & p/u the money I paid for the cake I never received. Is it legal to keep your customers money when you failed to provide the cake? Isn't that stealing?44 guests, a formal event honoring 2 dignitaries & you wait until 24 hrs before the event to inform me there will be no cake? Why didn't you call me Monday?! Your baked goods are delicious, I will miss them. Your customer service sucks! 24 hr notice for a formal event? Thankfully Taste of Spellbound in Avon is stepping up. They don't normally make sheet cakes, but they felt bad for how Harvest Bakery treated me, so they are making 2 small sheet cakes. Sadly their decorators are booked, so none of the designs will be incorporated. Harvest Bakery your ovens not working is your problem, not mine. Please refund my money asap read more
