I have bought from this bakery for years with no disappointments but the last few years it has changed! It was always a "polish" bakery. Now the employees do not understand polish or English. I have such trouble just placing a simple order. Also the quality of the bake goods has declined. The fillings.. apple, custard, poppyseed etc are barely even visible in the pastries. The prices have doubled but the quality has declined 3x . Today I visited this location and was disgusted to see older women touching and squeezing unwrapped breads with their bare hands. Gross! The owner needs to go back to the old ways and not cut so many corners to make more money. read more

This was our go to Polish bakery for years, but the variety and quality of the baked goods have declined after the owner's husband was arrested and pleaded guilty to tax fraud. It is but a shadow of its former self with a notable decline in the number of customers. On my last visit I picked up a tiramisu which was partially frozen though pretty tasty after it was allowed to thaw. I probably won't be returning any time soon choosing to favor local businesses with fresher pastries. read more

This was an experience, since I went on fat Thursday, and every Catholic knows you MUST eat pączki that day. I felt as if I was back in the communist Poland standing in line as a child to buy my baked goods, peeking over the shoulders in front of me with hopes there is enough for everybody, the woman at the counter smiled and said don't worry we have plenty. It's was my turn! My turn to get my Polish donuts called pączki , pon-ch-kee , I assumed we will eat two each. I assumed wrong, boy was I wrong since I inhaled a strawberry and a prune donut as I got in my car, and could have eaten an entire dozen. I went back for more, than my eyes started eating everything else I saw, so I also purchased a cake with cranberries, it was tart but perfect addition to my coffee and tea. I observed the locals buying the different breads and asking if it had seeds on top or throughout, and the woman explained each loaf and the difference between them, that's next time. Store looked empty and cramped, with limited supply on display but they store a lot in the back, everything was fresh. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

I'm a sucker for bakeries. I don't rate them based on the person who takes my order (who was very nice by the way). I rate them by the quality of their goods. I bought some almond danish, apple turnovers and pierogi all of which were outstanding. As in a 'rare treat' outstanding. Yes, there was a line to get in and for good reason. And some things were -gasp- sold out so people bought what wasn't sold out. And the counter people all spoke polish, you pay in american currency. My guess is that you get treated as politely as you treat the hired help. Don't let any sour grape reviews dissuade you from patronizing the place - its worth the minor inconveniences. read more

This is an old-fashioned full-service bakery. Their Babka is superb. My favorite is the cherry-sour cream loaf. Cookies are not the run of the mill butter cookies, there are a lot of creative flavors and shapes. You *must* try the Pistachio cheesecake, too. Sourdough rye bread is very rewarding. It's dense and glutinous - you may want to have it sliced, as we've learned to do. Hand-cut, larger slices expose one's palate to too much firm, crusty goodness for comfort. Yes, the women who work there are more or less cheerless. But it's a bakery. So I just load-up, they bag it and take my card ($10 minimum) and the sale is consummated. Ordered a cake for my daughters birthday. When we went to eat it, it was frozen. We understand bakeries make their cakes the night before but when we pick it up they should have had the decency to tell us to keep it out of the fridge. Or better yet, why have it in the freezer if it is getting picked up the next day? When we called to address our concern the woman laughed at us and told us it was still good. A little up in the air about this bakery. So so authentic polish that the women working there did not speak a word of English. We went at 5:00pm on a Saturday and they closed at 7:00pm. Then door was locked from the inside and the women would let people in when she looked at them. Maybe a high crime area but not sure. You needed to be unlocked to get out of that same door. We didn't know what to order as there were no prices, labels or anyone to tell us anything. There were large pieces of cakes and some type of strudels and we wanted a slice of a few to go but the women would only cut a chosen few. Got something else almost like a hot crossed bun with a tiny tiny dab of jelly inside. The apricot strudel thing was very good. There were breads but we did not know what they were. I would love to see a few signs just telling you what you are purchasing. Prices for our apricot strudel and the bun thing was very very reasonable at $4.50. Amazing authentic polish bakery!!!!! I love coming hear around the holidays, especially Easter, it's so festive inside and they even sell decorated wooden eggs. Their items are so delicious and classic polish! Only thing I don't like is that they are always so busy that the line is out the door and you are therefore practically on top of people inside. I would never go here. I called to place an order I was changed to 3 different people. They weren't very friendly. When I went to finalize my order the lady said, "someone just walked in I'm busy call me back in half an hour" excuse me??? I'm on my lunch break calling YOU to give YOU business and you want me to call you back? No. They could of at least taken my information down quickly and called me back and just asked the customer who walked in to hold on one second. So I called back when I got out of work because I don't have time to be calling when it's convenient for a business to take a customers call.
