Great italian bakery that offers everything from bread, breakfast sandwiches, cannolis, a large array of Italian style cookies & cakes just to list a few items! Family owned and operated but is switching owners in the next month. This location has been a pinnacle for the italian (and entirety) of plainville baked good lovers. This is by far my favorite bakery local to Hartford county. The service is always impeccable with friendly and attentive staff. My family usually orders a cake for our holiday parties and family parties from here between Italian Fruit Cake, Canoli Cake, Chocolate Mousse Cake, and Carrot Cake. All are classically beautifully designed, and just the perfect amount of sweetness! Mangiafico's is my local go to bakery for special occasion cakes and cookies at Christmas. The cakes are always fresh and delicious. The cannoli cake is good. The owner and staff are very friendly and they will even carry your cake out to your car! Almond cookies are a favorite, which you can get with an almond, sliced almonds or a cherry on top. A must try is their Zeppole with Ricotta filling. (it also comes with vanilla or chocolate filling). So glad to return here time and time again. I would give more than 5 stars if able to! read more

We also ordered a birthday cake for our daughter. We tasted an apple strudel that was flaky and fresh. The lemon mousse was light and refreshing. We also had a tiramisu that was definitely the best I've tasted. It's even better than Carlo's Bakery. They were so nice about it and the cake was really big! I had ordered an Italian fruit cake and the whipped frosting was not over bearing and the fruit made it a light and nice dessert! They don't have Italian bakeries like this in Vermont where I live. I tripped over Mangiafico's when I needed directions to the local Catholic church. After services returned to load up on Italian cookies and treats to get me back home. This has been and will always be the ONLY Italian Pastry shop in CT I would want to shop at. My wife & I have been to many in New Haven, Meriden, and other areas of the state and come to find this as having the edge over everyone else. I really enjoy the smells of what is being baked during the Christmas & Thankgiving Holidays. The taste is just absolutely incredible. As for birthday cakes, My wife & I have come to realize there are many places for which we could go for what we could get...Only one place can deliver the best of quality with out the outrageous prices...
