I will admit I was pleasantly surprised! It has been 15 years since I have eaten at a Hartz. I moved back to Houston six months ago and it has been on my mind. Now admittedly, most of the locations need a freshening up on the decor and aesthetics. Clearly there has not been a change or update to the brand so the places look like they are out of the 90s. That being said, this location was very clean and well-staffed. I went at lunch, and the food was hot and fresh and the buffet area was being kept clean and restocked by employees. The food was pretty good for what I was expecting! If you are needing a fried chicken and catfish fix, this place might be for you. There were lots of delicious country sides as well. They even had chicken and dumplings, baked chicken, and fried chicken livers. And again, the food was fresh and hot and the place was clean and neat. That is about all you can ask for these days. There is also a machine by the door for free ice cream cones as you leave (if you by chance have any room left in your belly). So, I would highly recommend this place if you just have that hankering to buss down on some good old southern cooking and then take a long nap! For the buffet and drink I paid $14.99. read more

No one answered the drive thru speaker but I could hear the cashier talking in the background. After 12 minutes at the speaker, and waiting behind a car, the cashier came to the window. She said what is your order cause I am busy as you can see. You can't order...okay. She said have a good day and closed the window. She's too busy? Very poor customer servic. They seem like they are very tired and over worked. One lady is always there never smile and very rude .You ask her a question and she shrugged her shoulders and always talking in Spanish. If you ask for fresh chicken she gets an attitude like it's her money I'm spendin. I really like this place but by the reviews we're all talking about the same woma. Love the buffet. This is a very clean and cutely decorated cafe. Buffet has many varieties of veggies. Fried gizzards and livers. Fried and baked chicken and fried fish. 2nd time stopping at this location and receiving cold food. I asked the Asian man before I purchased the chicken..... was it fresh. He stated he was about 15 minutes old which is not old. After I drove down the road a bit and started eating the food was cold. I called back and he argued with me telling me that I was lying and that he pulled a piece of chicken from under the heat lamp and it was still hot. The ladies here are rude, always in a hurry to close and the worst customer service I've ever experienced. We arrived at the location a 7:30pm which was 30min before the buffet closes at 8pm and an hour and a half before closing at 9pm. Even at this arrival time they refused to allow us to purchase a buffet. I highly recommend the owners to hire employees who can work the full hours they are paid for and not employees watching the clock. A few months ago when we came here and were allowed to sit it was around 7pm and we felt rushed the entire time there. While eating the staff was trying to sweep and mop under our table. Do yourself a favor and find another location or restaurant that appreciate their customers instead of considering them and inconvenience. read more

Myself and the guys I work with come here about once a month for our buffet fix. They never let us down. The food is always hot and fresh and the staff is extremely nice to us. Even through COVID they have changed their procedure to still allow the buffet to happen, they simply get the food for you. I have ordered 3 times from this location. The first time, Thru Grub Hub was for a single breast. It was moist and large. When I go to the one on Gessner it is consistenly good but once. I took it back and was threatened to be banned if I didn't like it. That was the last time I went. The second time, I got two breasts. I was great and the other was overcooked and tough. Almost decided not to purchase again but it was the weekend so I said, "I'll try again" This time I ordered a 3 piece dinner which producef 2 thighs and a breast. The thighs weren't too bad but a little chewy. The 1 breast competed evenly with the extra breast I ordered and they looked great! Large and moist, just like I like it. The Grun hub price was $20 even. I put a $5 on the door for the driver so they don't deliver it to the wrong spartment. You can't get chicken like this from the other fast food restaurants so hopefully the experience will continue read more

Horrible customer service. Ladies wouldn't open the section in the back for a party of 15 people. They said they couldn't because they would need to sweep and wipe the tables for them to sit. I can always rely on Hartz for my fried chicken cravings. The buffet line is always stocked with hot and crispy fried chicken (regular and spicy), hot wings, fish, and gizzards. I don't recommend the fried shrimp, as they're so small that they mostly taste of batter. What's nice is that the buffet line also includes sides you can't usually order from the to go window: peach cobbler, pineapple cobbler, pudding, and ice cream! Gross!! Went to the Hartz Chicken at 45 and 2920. It was nasty!! Restaurant was dirty, what little food there was on the buffet, was gross. This place is one of the good choice if you are craving for high carbs and fatty food. Mainly about fried chicken and its parts also some greens and potatoes. Was charged $363.63 on my card for $36. bill. My issue is with the fact that it's been a full week and I still haven't gotten my money back. It took 4 phones calls ..finally got the manager and they knew of the error, and were expecting me to come back in? Why not just fix the obvious error. Made me come back to run my card. Went in, asked for the manager and she just took my card, never said a word..never an apology and refunded the difference. I would have expected the whole amt for keeping over $300 tied up over the wknd and beyond..but she didn't agree. Called corporate and they didn't care..it's a franchise.
