Very overpriced and limited menu. $7 for a grilled cheese and still left me hungry.

It was early Sunday afternoon, and we were too large a group to arrive without calling ahead. You walk up a lovely old half-flight of stairs under an ornate ceiling. After a short wait, half of our party went elsewhere, and the remaining four of us were quickly seated. The front area is mainly a café, with maybe 10 seats at tables for two. Farther back is a hallway and a larger room with seating in booths and at high-tops for maybe 40, and maybe 6 more at a small bar. The staff is quick and friendly. The food is delicious and fresh and hot! And the music is loud and festive :-) We had the thin-cut savory palomillo steak, a generous serving, pounded to tenderness, served with classic wet black-beans and white rice, sweet soft platanos maduros plantain pieces, and some greens and tomato. We had a lovely colorful medium-sized Mojo Shrimp in tart garlic citrus mojo sauce, with sateed red onion crescents, tomato chunks, and parsley. And we had the huge slow-cooked tender shredded-beef Ropa Vieja pressed sandwich, sauced lightly with slightly-tangy creole sauce, served with platanos maduros and black beans. All of their food delightfully authentic. We liked it so much, a few days later we ate at their South Loop location, too!

Their shrimp and guava-q sandwiches are also other go-to sandwiches for me. The one on wells is perfect for a lunch in the loop. If you want sit down service, the gol coast location is decent. The location on Fullerton kinda sucks - service is just really slow there so if I get sandwiches from there, I exclusively go the take out route. But all in all, the sandwiches are amazing!! And the yucca fries are good too. Oo and the guava cheese pastry is nice if you want a sweet treat after.

No notes. The sandwich had candied bacon on it with this perfect sweet flavor, and it normally comes with honey Dijon--but I don't do Dijon, so I swapped it for this garlic sauce ‍ And when I say that garlic tanginess mixed with the sweet candied bacon... whew. Chef's kiss. Absolute perfection. My boyfriend got the steak wok bowl with corn, broccoli, brown rice, and some other veggies--and I definitely stole a few bites It was SO good. Like... flavorful, fresh, just everything. The whole vibe? Perfect for a lunch date. The ambiance was cute, relaxed, and just right And I loved that they serve room temperature water (because ice? not my thing ‍) But let's talk about the real star--our waiter Eli He was AMAZING. Super personable, funny, and just a whole vibe. He had the cutest red cat-eye nails and burgundy hair accents--like, style on point He told us he manages both the Gold Coast and River North locations, so I'm definitely hoping we run into him again. And when me and my boyfriend were holding hands at the end, he goes, "Aww this is so cute. I'm not jealous though" we all cracked up. Just made the experience even better. Listen... 5 stars is not enough. It's just not. If you've been thinking about going--THIS IS YOUR SIGN. Go. I promise you won't regret it

Our friend said one of her favorite places to suggest to visitors was Doc B's Restaurant. So, we gave it a try. The menu includes a wide variety of salads, wings, wraps, sandwiches and, my favorite, burgers. I was with a group of 4 and we all ordered burgers - and none of us opted for the same burger. So, our little group got to try 4 different burgers. And all four were delicious. Three of us ordered with a side of fries - also delicious. Great place for dinner in the Windy City.

He did not lie!! Best bun ever! Does not taste gluten free even though from the look of it, it looks dry and disgusting. It was perfect, it did not crumble and was buttery goodness! Best gf sandwich I've ever had Next time I visit Chicago I will be back!

Brunch at Beatrix never disappoints and somehow every single visit makes us love it even more…read more The vibe inside is honestly one of my favorite parts -- cozy, lively, relaxing, and somehow the perfect mix of brunch spot + coffeehouse energy all at once. It's one of those places where you immediately settle in and don't want to leave We started with the maple matcha latte and OH. MY. GOD. Easily one of the best matcha drinks I've ever had. Smooth, perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, with the maple flavor making it taste so comforting and unique. I'm genuinely going to be thinking about this drink for a LONG time because wow. For food we got the egg white omelette with sourdough toast and the prime cheeseburger with fries and both were absolutely incredible in completely different ways The omelette was so fresh and flavorful with creamy avocado, perfectly cooked egg whites, and all the toppings working together so well. The sourdough toast on the side just made it even better because somehow Beatrix bread always hits And then the prime cheeseburger... WOW. Juicy, cheesy, messy in the best way possible, with crispy fries that disappeared embarrassingly fast It's one of those burgers where after the first bite you immediately stop talking for a second because you need to process how good it is. But honestly what made the whole brunch even better was the service. Our server was SO cool, so sweet, so attentive, and just had the best energy the entire time. Great service genuinely changes an experience and she made brunch feel even more fun and welcoming Beatrix is seriously one of those places we keep coming back to because the food is always amazing, the drinks are consistently incredible, the ambiance is top tier, and every visit somehow feels like the perfect little reset brunch

It's located in a busy part of River North with minimal parking options but I do believe they have 1 or 2 parking spots in the parking lot they share with the motel. It gets pretty busy on the weekend so I'd recommend going early or be prepared for a line. Ordered online the night before to take to a friend's for brunch. When I arrived to pick up my order, disappointingly, I was told that part of my order wasn't available because they hadn't been set aside in the morning. They offered to replace it with a different flavor and add a free schmear, but I'll admit I was super annoyed. I ended up getting some everything bagels to make some lox sandwiches with. Unfortunately the bagels were very mediocre (a step or 2 above a store bought bagel). I like my bagels chewy and moist, but these were dry and too fluffy for my taste. And weirdly enough, they were salty yet didn't have a very strong everything bagel flavor. To be fair, Chicago is severely lacking in good bagels, so not sure if I should fault Schneider's for that, or wherever they source their bagels from. Either way, I hope they get their online ordering system straightened out.
