We arrived with no reservation and were told it would be a 45-minute wait which we expected for a Friday at 5:30. We found seats at the outside bar and hung out there to enjoy happy hour. Prices were pretty fair, drinks were good, and apps were a perfect way to start. Emily our bartender, was fantastic. We got a table about an hour in. Service really slowed down once inside even though we just were there to order entrees. Everyone's entrée was very tasty but not coming with sides at the prices they charged was a bit of a reach. They charge $10 for valet, drive around the courtyard to free valet at Blanco. Ambiance is good, food is good, but no need to rush to try it. read more

Overall this place has potential... went last Thursday for a private group dinner. The atmosphere was nice, the little details were polished, and the newness of the building was apparent. The service staff was friendly and proficient, but the food was slow to come out. Everything from start to finish took 2.5 hours. I don't really mind this, but it is something to be aware of. The service staff did package leftovers nicely and the bathrooms were clean. The food is where they lost me. The concepts and flavors were great. The potential is there. BUT whoever was seasoning the food needs to either hydrate better or go get their adrenal glands checked out. This was some of the saltiest food I've ever had at a restaurant and it left me with some food that honestly was hard to eat. So salty that it burns in your mouth. The good: Espresso martini - I ordered mine with reposado and it was nicely done. shrimp cocktail - Nice and plump, perfectly prepared shrimp. They don't mess around with the horseradish. Shrimp comes with a ton of it so be careful. I like it though. The ravioli - Honestly wasn't sure if it was gonna be good but it was pretty tasty. The marinara was good and the ravioli were (to my surprise) fried. Not healthy but I'm glad I ordered it. Caesar salad - had great reviews from my party. Sad I didn't get it. green beans - good. Pretty classic. mashed potatoes - great, very interesting with the addition of horseradish. Cheesecake - classic New York style cheesecake. Solid. Came with a cherry compote which was just okay in my opinion. I'm glad it was on the side. The bad: fillet mignon - was okay. With so many places in Scottsdale serving nice steaks, they need to step their game them up here if they want to be competitive. It was not very flavorful. Pork chop - had a very nice flavor and was cooked to perfection. Unfortunately it was salty. Not terribly but enough that it distracted me and I didn't eat as much or enjoy it as much as I otherwise would have. Vanilla ice cream - I don't know if I've just gotten used to gelato, but this ice cream seemed very "fake". Loaded with artificial ingredients. Almost "gummy". Not a fan. The ugly: soup of the day (I think it was cream of mushroom) - it had a great flavor, but it was an absolute salt bomb. I couldn't eat more than a few spoonfuls which is unfortunate because again it had great flavor. The chicken pasta - the little radiator pasta was cooked al dente and quite tasty. But my God that was a salt bomb. Again mouth burning. The dish was already salty enough with the addition of the thick cut bacon, so the excessive salt added just threw things way over the top. Had a few bites and that was it. Again it has potential but overall, a waste in my opinion. Normally, I would never return to a restaurant after having food this salty, but like I've said multiple times, this place has a lot of potential. I WANT it to be better. They might just need a little bit more time to work out the kinks. If they don't get it together though, they won't survive long in this market. Time will tell and I might be back. read more

Had to try Harry & Izzy's after hearing so much about it from our friends who grew up in Indy! The restaurant is set in a fantastic location and features a beautiful patio that would be perfect to enjoy outside of the heat of summer. Stepping inside, the open, spacious layout immediately sets an upscale mood for a proper night out. Our server Adam was phenomenal and truly made the entire evening amazing.  We started with a few happy hour selections and loved the calamari, which came paired with a sauce that added just the right amount of kick. The flatbread arrived topped with salty prosciutto and fresh arugula, baked with a subtle, delicious char on the crust. For our main courses, we went with the seared tuna served over thin Asian noodles in a light, delicate sauce. The tuna featured a wonderful savory crust while remaining melt-in-your-mouth tender. We also ordered the bucatini bolognese, which delivered perfectly al dente pasta coated in a rich, creamy garlic bolognese sauce. We were hosted by Harry & Izzy's for their Friends & Family night which offered a pared down menu. We live nearby so have been excited to try it out. It's upscale yet approachable with prices somewhere between LongHorn and Steak 44. They did a great job with the space. Modern and elegant with a big bar, private dining room and massive patio. We tried the famous shrimp cocktail, lobster cargot, Caesar salad, filet with horseradish mashed potatoes, prime rib dip, Brussels sprouts and chocolate brownie. The shrimp cocktail has a serious horseradish kick, so keep that in mind. The lobster cargot was fantastic with butter, garlic and melted cheese and a new take on escargot if snails aren't your thing. The filet was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes, although has horseradish, it wasn't overpowering and added nice flavor. The prime rib dip sandwich came with fries and au jus and horseradish cream (which was amazing and again, not overpowering). The Brussels sprouts with bleu cheese were some of the best I've had at any steakhouse. And lastly, the chocolate brownie was dense yet still chewy. Service was great from Jared and the entire team. Very kind and attentive and super ontop of things. I enjoyed the ceviche the best and the French onion soup was delicious! Sad to write this but this opening was highly anticipated and it just missed the mark. Pros: the restaurant is beautiful and the menu is the perfect size, plenty of options without being overwhelming. Scallops were very savory - a bit heavy for scallops but well seasoned. Cons: the food is wildly overpriced compared to other similar options in the valley. Plating is laughable with the steak looking like something from a street side diner. Our extra size of asparagus was mushy with zero seasoning. To make matter worse, the server assistant poured my husband's sparkling water into his cocktail. Then pointed to the cocktail and asked how it was. He didn't have the heart to call out her mistake. I really hope they step things up because it's a beautiful setup and great location. The level of disappointment I feel after visiting Harry &Izzy's is palpable. Problem number one is a ridiculous volume level of the background music. There is a minimum of 25 huge speakers pointing down in the dining room and there isn't a soft surface to be found in the restaurant. Even after asking to have the music turned down, my wife and I could barely hear each other. Problem two, I'm a whiskey drinker, and their selection is terrible and very over priced. The wine list is quite limited given the price of the food. We decided after getting two failed cocktails, a bottle of wine, and paying $6 for bread and butter, to call it a day. We spent $110 for a bottle of wine, a cocktail, bread, and tip. Can't imagine a reason to return. Overall the staff were very good and mostly attentive. An Indy 5 is a Scottsdale 2. Food is fine, ambience feels like cheapened upscale. Great to have a new spot at the PV mall but the price point is weird. Too expensive to feel like a good value and too cheap to really hit a home run and leave feeling like a million bucks. For the price you're better off hitting Dominick's/steak 44. Martinis were small. Service was good - a little over the top but expected for a new restaurant. Snowbirds will probably love it! read more

Had an absolutely amazing lunch there today! Our starters were fresh shuck oysters, and the bread and butter starter. For our main course was the sweet tea, fried chicken and the tavern club sandwich. Probably the best club sandwich I've ever had! For dessert it was a seasonal homemade crème brûlée, which I believe was bourbon and pecan. A+ plus experience! Can't wait to go back for brunch! It can be a touch confusing to find because of all of the construction but if you keep going in a circle, you'll eventually end up over by Whole Foods and can park there and walk over. We were very excited this was coming. For years I've heard about St. Elmo's and we wanted this to be a regular rotation resturant for us. We gave it two try's and overall just ok. THe shrimp cocktail is the thing here but my first bite of the horseradish set me on fire. Heat...not really great cocktail sauce flavor. The shrimp without the sauce was very bland. The fried ravioli was pretty good. We both got the sampler with a salad(bland) French fries that were good, shrimp which I have mentioned and I got the shrimp slider and crab cake slider. The shrimp was just a fried shrimp in a small slider bun. The crab cake slider my wife got was pretty good and the steak slider was tough. All the sliders are very small. Next visit I got the smash burger which was pretty good. The onion rings were pretty good. Brussels were good . Cool building and vibe. Our server Anthony on our 1st visit was excellent and our second visit I don't think our server had worked at a restaurant before and struggled. Both times food took forever to come. Mixed drinks were fine and they do have a happy hour. Probably won't go back for a 3rd try. Sad though. read more

Bless their hearts they tried but if you people come, keep expectations low until they are more established. Unfortunately, this place just doesn't compare well with some of the better restaurants Scottsdale/Phoenix has to offer. When you walk in, the space is BEAUTIFUL. High ceilings, comfortable seating and a huge venue overall. Even the server stations were pristine and nicely tucked away. There is currently lots of obnoxious construction in the area and the parking garage is a bit of a walk, so we opted for valet. (Keep reading for that wonderful experience...) The food was pretty good for the most part. we enjoyed all of the seafood we tried. French onion soup was generous and delicious. Overall, it's a fairly standard American menu. We weren't able to try the steaks this visit, so I'd be interested to see how those compare. Drinks were... okay. There are some decent wine options, although nothing that's going to excite the wine snobs. Cocktails sorry to say not so good. Nobody at our table had anything particularly positive to say about the ones we ordered, and one was made incorrectly and had to be remade. We weren't able to try dessert. A few members of management stopped by, and I do want to give them credit. The gentleman who was running some of our food was delightful and brought such positive energy to the table. A younger female manager with glasses was equally warm and pleasant. Those interactions stood out in a very positive way. I hate leaving a review like this but... Our server was frustrating in the moment, but upon further reflection, I actually felt sorry for her. She was a sweet girl bless her heart and clearly nervous, but she simply did not have the menu knowledge she needed. We asked several very basic questions--nothing complicated--about portion sizes, ingredients and flavor profiles, and she couldn't answer them. At a certain point it became almost comical, but I don't really blame her. She seemed like someone who had been put on the floor before she was adequately prepared. She wasn't even familiar with the names of the managers. She tried her best. IF you don't properly train and invest in your staff, what makes you think that diners should invest in you??? There are SO many dining options in the Valley. You may fall to the bottom of that list very quickly. Unfortunately, this is ultimately where H&I fell for me. And finally, valet. I used the text system and paid to have my car brought around. We waited...and waited. Eventually I asked the attendant what was going on, he apologized and went to grab the keys. At that point I could literally see my car, so I told him I'd just walk over and get it myself. $10 valet + $5 tip + $1 convenience fee = $16 to retrieve my own car. This is a beautiful restaurant with some good food and a few genuinely wonderful people working there, so the potential is absolutely there. But Scottsdale has an extremely competitive dining scene. I hope ownership and management take the time to experience some of the Valley's best restaurants and really invest in getting their staff to that level. For now, I'd give them some time to work through the opening issues before rushing in. read more

The first time I ordered the green tea fried chicken and it was amazing. The next two times it was so, so. You can see in the pics below that the beautiful even cut of chicken was from the First night then the 2nd and 3rd time I ordered it the cut was weird and it didn't taste half as good. Really had high hopes for this restaurant and hoping they can improve. Ambiance gorgeous service and food abismal. The ceviche was dry and tough with chips that were beyond stale .. a store bought chip would of been welcomed. The french onion soup was really the only good item. The Fried Chicken was good but the frys were dark limp and full of oil. I am not sure how those passed the kitchen or the server . I ordered a filet with green beans. The meat did not pass any quality of a filet it was rubbery and soaked in oil. The green beans were overly drowned in butter and the entire dish was more like a soup. We let management know so maybe can improve because to be honest az has some of the best steakhouses in the country . Management seemed not phased and a lot of tables had complaints . It's still not cheap, but for the quality of the food, you would expect this place to cost $200-$300 per head and it's more like $100-$200. I cannot reccomend it highly enough. read more

We started with the shrimp cocktail, which was just as good as I remembered -- spicy and flavorful. The crab cakes were great too, packed with plenty of crab. For my entrée, the NY Strip Izzy style was a fantastic pick, cooked perfectly. It was busy for a Thursday night, which says a lot about this place. It was fine... not great. My husband and I went here for a date night. The restaurant itself is beautiful but they are struggling in customer service and food. Hoping in a few months they work out the kinks. My husband and I we were both in the restaurant industry for over 15 years and love to sit at the bar. It gives a more personal experience we feel. When we first sat at the bar the immediately vibe we got was that we were adding to the bartenders work and an inconvenience to them. After about 10 minutes a bartender came over and I tried conversing with her asking which of the cocktails she loves to make and it was clear she had very little knowledge of their cocktail list. I ended up ordering the Main Character Energy (lychee martini) it was good and my husband got an old fashioned he enjoy. For the food we were planning on ordering apps, dinner, and dessert. We unfortunately skipped dinner. My husband got the shrimp cocktail which had very small shrimp for the price. I ordered the French onion soup which was good but very rich. We asked the same bartender about a couple entree items and continued to get "I'm not sure let me ask". It really seemed like she had as many questions as we did. She then never came back with answers.... We heard the couple next to us ask what the market fish of the day was, she didn't know that either. My husband does love bread pudding so he wanted to give it a shot. We ordered the Bourbon Bread Pudding. At the 30 minute mark of waiting for it we were getting ready to ask for the check instead then it came out. This dessert is served on a hot skillet with a cold white bowl underneath. The person delivering the food also carries out a bottle of bourbon to pour around the bread putting in front of you. Well... he in fact did not pour it on the bread pudding but into the white bowl UNDERNEATH the skillet.... We explained it to the bartender she did mentioned that was an error and poured bourbon from behind the bar on top. At the end of the day if the service was amazing and the food was decent we would come back 100%. As previous bartenders we would introduce ourselves and ask the customers their names. We loved making regulars out of customers, giving the customers an experience, and ensuring they want to come back. This experience did not meet that mark. Hoping Harry & Izzy's work on their kinks so we can come back but it will be awhile before we return. read more

Her and I are familiar with the restaurant, as we have been to Indianapolis half a dozen times, and always made sure to stop in while we were out there. We were so excited to go to Harry & Izzy's because we are both from Indiana and love St. Elmo's. The interior is gorgeous--very well done. The food and the service left much to be desired. My husband had been thinking about the shrimp cocktail all day long. The sauce was the same, but the shrimp....we had to dig to find the shrimp. My friend tried to order a salad with Strip Steak and was told that they were out. Whaaat?? The waitress informed us that they had dried aged but that it was really pricey. I ordered the crab cakes.....one was cooked the other was complete mush and inedible. My husband ordered a fillet that was to be medium rare....it was not. The french fries were mushy and way too salty. So yes, Harry & Izzy, you have some work to do. We will let you work things out before we will be back. read more

We wanted to like Harry and Izzy's. We went for a late snack on Sunday night and sat at the bar. There were a good number of employees behind the bar but service was slow. We ordered martinis, ceviche, shrimp cocktail, and french fries. We both felt like the shrimp were small given that it's a featured item and we were glad we had the sauce served on the side (it's very strong). The ceviche was good, but I mentioned to our bartender that the chips that they serve with it are so curly that they didn't work well with the ceviche and that flat chips might be better. Our bartender said have you ever tried to flatten a tortilla chip? (seriously?) And then she mumbled something about them being store-bought. We sent the french fries back because they were cold. The second serving was good. When it came time for the bill, we were charged for 2 orders of french fries so it took her a bit to get that corrected. The venue is fabulous.
