For a short time Harris Teeter is running an amazing promotion (until January 2011, I believe). Fill a prescription and get $20 off your next order when you use your VIC card for the Rx and shopping. Wife needed an antibiotic, which was $7 after insurance paid its share. I checked out and $33 food came to $13. Amazing. Compare to Shoppers, where you get coffee and donut for a Rx purchase. read more

I can't decide if I really like HT or dislike HT. I live right by the store so I want to like it. I find the prices way too high on many items so buying stuff on sale is a goal when I'm there. I rarely buy cereal at HT due to the prices. The fruit and veggies can go either way but for the most part are fresh. I was in a rush the other day and ran in at 5 PM to buy some salad and fruit from the salad bar for dinner I was making. This was some pretty wilted lettuce and the fruit was old and not fresh. Won't make this mistake again. I bought a cookie once at the bakery and it was the worse cookie ever. Pretty large cookie and it looked good but wasn't. One thing I will give HT credit for is the employees. Most everyone there are very nice and helpful. read more

Ask me a few months ago, but I would have been all fives. There are still some fives in the store - the two pharmacists, Tran and Supriya, the casher Nina, and a few others. There was a change in management in the past few months and it has just gone down hill. One of the managers, a woman, was downright rude and condescending on a recent visit. New store doesn't speak to anyone ever. If it wasn't for the pharmacy, I would quit shopping there completely. But I do spend a lot less time and money at HT than I did before. read more

I have one thing to say about this HT! I LOVE IT! The employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile! This evening I stopped by to pick up a couple things, went through self check out and they were having issues with the card reader! I thought I was the only one since the account I was using had been compromised in the past. After my second attempt the card still did not work so I grabbed my 2 bags, walked over to the cashier and started to explain that my card may have been compromised. Before I could even finish he said that it looks like they were having issues and asked if I'd like to try one more time. I tried 3 more times without success and was ready to just go back into the store and put away the groceries I was attempting to purchase while the cashier was speaking with the manager. Right as I was ready to put away my groceries he told 3 of us that were having issues that the groceries were on the house, sorry for the inconvenience. What a nice way to end my day. read more

If your store is open to the public, then you need to be providing customer service! I work odd hours and my only time I have to go shopping is after 11 p.m. Although, I like Walmart prices, Harris Teeter is in a more convenient location and I feel like the parking lot is safer in the evening hours. The prices are easily 30% more then Walmart though. However, Harris Teeter has no customer service members at the desk and they very often have no cashiers. Customers cannot get rain checks, return items or even correct an items price that ran up incorrectly after 10 p.m. You have to make a separate stop for that. What they do have is self checkout only and one very young front end person to simply help customers check out. Three times in the last 6 weeks, I've had to ditch my groceries at the self checkout because nobody was there when the scanner said "help is on the way". One night, two of us customers ditched out groceries at the checkout and left. Last night, I literally waited 4 minutes until an employee came into the building pushing a line of carts. I asked her to help me. The front end was not her responsibility, so she went and found the front end person. By the time he approached my checkout, I had had enough. I dumped my groceries out of my reusable bag and jut told him I had waited to long. My register was simple stating that I had 18 items. I'm not an idiot and know how to use a self checkout. I worked my way through college by working as a grocery store cashier. I'm quite sick of paying more for my groceries and having to do all of the work myself. One additional problem that this store has is that quite often they have expired or moldy items on the shelves. I don't think I'll go back. It's a repetitive issue. read more

Grocery store kind of a mix of between Wegmans and safeway. More on the high end side of things than Safeway. It does have a pretty good selection of things, but if you are looking for a "grocery" store, this is really not the place. I go there to get gifts for friends and family, since there are so many "pretty" things that work for house warming etc. The salad bar is nice too. Very clean and spacious. read more

Closest grocery store to my house so the one where I prefer to shop. Always very clean and the employees are helpful and friendly. The meat guys know their stuff and the bakery goods are always delicious. The produce is fresh and there are always good deals on fruits and veggies. I don't have any complaints about the prices, it may not be as cheap as the Walmart up the road but the employees are actual helpful and the store is always clean. You get what you pay for. It definitely pays to have a VIC card, always great deals going on. read more

If you are shopping at this store DO NOT eat anything without checking the dates! Just this week got a soup can with a 2016 date and mayo with a use by Feb 2017 date...take your glasses - check all your purchases, better yet just shop some place else to keep you and your family safe. I go here all the time for groceries and it's my favorite place to get food. The deli is excellent and the meat is always really fresh and delicious in the meat section. The pharmacists are also very helpful and knowledgeable, they always know how to help me when I'm sick. read more

Favorite grocery store in the area! Always my go-to store in the area. I think what makes this one great is the customer service. They don't want anyone to wait in line and strive to keep that moving. Every store person greets you. Sometimes cost is a little more with some items, but they are trying to be competitive. They could do slightly better in the fruit/vegetables but that is my only complaint, I think they are improving in that., I would love to see a more Whole Foods approach to the fruits/veggies. I still prefer to go here than anywhere else.The beer section is definitively evolving to quite a 'beer connoisseur' so that is kinda cool. The pharmacy is excellent - staff, super customer service they are friendly, professional and don't give you any trouble - and we used to go to Giant's for pharmacy. All in all I still give them a high rating. read more

I came here once for an unusual item. It took me awhile to find an employee who knew where my item was. I was looking for a flash drive. Finally someone showed me where they were. However, then they walked away even though the flash drives were locked up. I had to find yet another employee to open the lock for me. She couldn't get it open. By then I had been waiting 15 minutes so I had to just rip the packaging so I could leave. read more

Today I got my first at home delivery service (if that's what you want to call it -- it was a day from hell right in the middle of a pandemic). I ordered on a Monday and scheduled the delivery for Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. No one showed up at 11:30 a.m. so I called the store and they said that it was not their fault because they hired a third party vendor and they were not responsible!! Great! So, finally at 12:30 p.m. the guy shows up and leaves my groceries at the door. I go out and find out that one item is missing, although it is clearly charged on my receipt. Other items are missing because they are out of stock -- even though it did not say that when I finalized my order. But -- wait -- the worst is yet to come. HT said they would not refund me the $5.00 on my charge and I had to go in there to the store to get a refund! It's the pandemic stupid! Why do you think I had home delivery. Also the vendor charged me $16.90 and HT charged me a $11.95 service fee! Yes, I feel really dumb and dupped. All this for $42.00 worth of groceries -- and HT says they are helping us duirng the pandemic! No they are rats. read more

I have been shopping at this store for the past few years and I have found that the quality of their food, including store brand items, is generally better than all of the nearby stores. The store is kept clean, well-stocked and the staff are helpful and amicable. I regularly use the express lane shopping and with the exeption of yesterday, I have never waited more than a few minutes before some happy employee brings all of my groceries directly to my car. Two years ago, one of their employees drove an item which they negelcted to place in my shopping bag to my house! Yesterday, I waited less than 10 minutes, and the store manager was so disgruntled by my wait that they gave me my groceries for free. While this store is too far away from my current residence to do regular grocery shopping there (I wish they would open up a store on Sudley Road), so that I can't really speak to the quality of the grocery or most of the personnel, I've done my pharmacy business there exclusively for some five years now. For years they had a policy of offering generic medications for free, which included several of my key prescriptions and was what attracted me in the first place; this policy has now ended (but since my insurance now covers all generic medications free, this isn't an issue). Their pharmacists Supriya (the manager) and Trung (the staff pharmacist) are exceptionally friendly, helpful and knowledgable, and have provided superior service for me under both Medicare and my current employer's insurance. read more

everyone is very nice and friendly, i only deduct a star because deli was slow, although i think it was because its still new. prices are good, i love buy one get one free. on the way out they gave my kids balloons and a man told me i can help my self to some flowers that were in a cart infront of customer service which was very nice for FREE. read more

The only place I shop. The staff is friendly, the meat guys are AWESOME, and the sales are great. They are pricey if you pay regular price but I rarely do. Lines are never long. If they start to get backed up they open new registers right away. Sign up for e-vic and get really good deals as well. I pass about 4 other stores to come here but totally worth it. read more

If I could give this store a 0, I would. Horrendous customer service. Beware of the bitter, rude, disrespectful "manager" Sherri. I was browsing around the store looking for cumin seed. She watched me browse the entire time, I do not look suspicious what's so ever. As I approached her for some assistance, she looked at me with a disgusting look and said, "we have signs above the aisles for a reason," and walked away. This isn't the first time it has happened either. Any time I go in, it seems like she's the only available person to talk to, and she always makes it an issue to help any customer. I've heard her complaining about her coworkers to other employees and customers. The level of professionalism is at an all time low, and I wouldn't trust someone to be in charge of my store that is so abhorrent towards the customers. It's her job to assist the customers and to have a respectful attitude towards the other employees that she manages. I will be contacting corporate if nothing is taken care of immediately. read more
