I sent this email on 6/19 and no one has replied yet: I had today a reservation and my friend couldn't show up so I stayed at the bar and got a drink and then had something to eat. I was having a really shitty day and I've suffered from depression and anxiety before, so I decided to give myself a treat to cheer me up... Things didn't go well and I started having an anxiety attack and fortunately I do know how to ask for help when I know it's going to escalate to something else and obviously I didn't have a friend with me or someone to ask for their help. I asked your staff for help and they kinda shut me down. One of the guys I think was being pressured by the other one and the "chinese" guy just told me he didn't speak English but then he was talking to other girls in English (?) right in front of me, when I was clearly not feeling fine and I felt like I couldn't move at that moment. A friend came for me as soon as she could and she asked for a glass of water that same guy that "don't speak English" gave it to her and he could perfectly speak English. I understand if they thought I was drunk or in drugs or something, but I was just having a panic attack and I was sober. I feel very disappointed and sad because it's really one of my favorite places to go. I think they didn't have empathy at all and I know they're bartenders and it's not their job, but that's why I clearly asked if they had someone that could help me and they didn't do anything and I felt they were kind of making fun of me or judging me and made things way worse for me. It's not my case because thankfully I have the resources to go to therapy and right now I'm not in a bad shape compared to others, to the point to think about suicide, but I've been there and I just don't want to anyone else to experience this situation at your bar/restaurant and that a tragedy happens because of this attitude of your staff. Again, I'm very sorry for this long email and if it makes you uncomfortable but I just think I needed to give you the feedback. I visited the rooftop April 2018 to meet a friend who was a hotel guest. Since he was a guest, I'm not sure if there was a minimum spend but I remember drinks being pricey - which is understandable for a place where you are coming for awesome views. The drink was nothing special, it was very smell and I wasn't very impressed overall, but thought it would be a cool place to bring visitors because the view is the best part. Fast forward to March 2021 - I called on a Friday because the weather was so nice and thought maybe they would have been open for the day. The man who answered said that both the rooftop and the lounge were closed but were still being used as an "observatory". I said OK and ended the call. I decided to check out their instagram page to see if there was any opening date listed and I saw several recent posts showing drinks, food etc stating that the lounge is open. I call back several times and am unable to get through all of a sudden. I call the front desk and they tell me that the lounge is open but the rooftop is not. You can go up to the rooftop if you'd like, but there is no service up there. It took me about an hour to get all of this information. Their website has incorrect information on it and there are no current updates. It would be nice to know exactly what is going on without having to call dozens of times to try and speak to someone! From what I've seen online now, their rooftop is open but there is $100 minimum spend which would be easy to do, but its just the principle. What if me and a friend just wanted to come by for a drink, catch the view and leave? why do we have to commit to a minimum spend? from reading the other reviews, everything is served in plastic which is pretty cheap considering you are forcing all of your guests to spend at least $100. Terrible customer service, mediocre drinks and only really worth it for the views. Not sure if I'd return anytime soon...I can get the same view elsewhere. read more

I've been trying for a while with my wife to visit this rooftop bar since we live across the river from it, wondering about the view it might have of Manhattan. We called, made a reservation and went there ... to celebrate our birthdays. We got a surprise!! First, they couldn't find our reservation and refused to sit us. Secondly, we tried to sit out on a terrace on the first floor with empty tables, "but with no reservations the hostess didn't let us". Went back to the "manager" but his post was EMPTY... Waited for a few minutes and...we left. To top it off we had to pay anyway the $40 Valet parking. I realize this spot is definitely geared to the younger crowd (milleniums ?) so if you are over 40's ...sorry It was the worst ever service we experience and I wouldn't recommended AT ALL to mature clientele. What a great little gem right near the Brooklyn bridge. They have the best drinks awesome food and of course the typical rooftop vibes. The people there dress trendy and the music matches the crowd. I would come here again just for the view which was breath taking. They have two bars one on the roof and one just below. I felt like the bar right below had the better drinks but that's just my opinion. I would not say this place is good for families with young children. This is more of a hang out spot. read more

Let me start by saying the wait staff is excellent. They're so professional and accommodating. The product is where I take issue. Everything is such poor quality from the cocktails served in plastic glassware to the cafeteria-grade food. My wife ordered oysters and they were served on already melted ice. Three of the oysters were submerged in the melted ice water. It was not a particularly hot day so they must have been sitting out for a while before being served, which seems dangerous with a dish like raw oysters. The wine selection is not particularly impressive but it's crazy overpriced, even by alcohol standards. It's an extremely tacky scene being sold as high luxury. The view and staff are the only redeeming qualities. Everything is obnoxiously priced for absolute trash. read more

I had the privilege of attending my good friends wedding here yesterday. What a place! The view is amazing here. You can see the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges and the Statue of Liberty in the distance, as well as the Empire State building and the Manhattan skyline with the beautiful contours of the city. The drinks and the food were stellar!! The bartenders and wait staff were impeccably good! Everything from the appetizers to the main courses and everything in between was amazingly great. They charge a minimum of $125pp,. The waiter got an attitude because we weren't ordering drinks fast enough to fullfulll the spending minimum... Our bill totaled $120....and the waiter/manager FORCED us to buy an expensive bottle of champagne or threatened to add the cost to our bill regardless if we accepted it or not. We felt disrespected! We didn't make reservations ahead of time (poor planners for a Friday night!), but the hostess had a great suggestion of grabbing to-go cocktails since we're staying in the hotel while we watched the sunset on the rooftop. I've been to Harriett's Rooftop a few times before and I stayed at the One Hotel South Beach a few times as well. Although I enjoyed everything the last few times and didn't have any issues before, this last visit RUINED the whole past experience for me. Not sure if I will ever be back. We ordered a drink called Brooklyn Garden which includes Hendricks gin. The drink was like lemonade, and the cost is around $30 when you account for the 20% included tip on top. The beverage manager, Alejandro Jose, happened to be around at that moment and asked us if everything was ok. When I told him about the issue with the Brooklyn Garden cocktail, instead of offering to fix the drink, he mentioned that he could get us a shot of hendricks for an additional $20 and that he will bring it right away. We do not go to rooftop bar at One Hotel to save money and money was never the issue. After 15 minutes and after all ice melted, he brought us a shot of hendricks. So, this drink alone cost us +$50 and it was just horrible. I'd have expected a manager to fix a drink instead of trying to make a measly additional $20. I guess they just want to squeeze as much money out of their customers. I wish that was the only issue. Alejandro came back for a chat and mentioned that "he is from Venezuella and is the drinks manager at Harriett's. His wife is French. They ordered these acyrlic (plasticy feel) glasses for $20 each and spent around $100K on the new order and that the table by the swimming pool has a minimum $800 spend." At some point, he mentioned that he has been at Harriet's for 1.5 years and is ready to change his job any moment if anyone else is offering a higher salary. He said and I quote, word by word: "This is NY, just show me the money." So, instead of enjoying the view which is what you pay for and the sunset, we were tolerant to listen to his money obsession. This ruined the experience even further. I went there to enjoy good cocktails, good music and good vibes and I got a SHITTY cocktail with a GREEDY attitude and a vibe that reminded me NY is ALL ABOUT THE DOLLAR. The "drinks manager" Alejandro was right about one thing though. He mentioned that people came there and just took only one cocktail and sat there for hours. We noticed that the table close to us did exactly what he said. They got one drink and one sushi and sat there for 2 hours. It was two of us and we spent $350 which included 20% tip. I added an additional 20% on top the last few visits to Harriets as I know the service industry depends on the tips. However, this time I didn't leave any additional tip because they simply did not deserve it. The service was extremely slow. It took about 30 minutes to get a drink and at some point they completely forgot about the drink I ordered. It really sucks that a few people ruin the whole experience for the rest of us who want to enjoy. I'd have expected the manager to fix the drink instead of trying to charge +$50 for a drink that was just not right but I guess he should be happy to read this review now. View is what you pay for. View is second to none. Absolutely beautiful location. Great music. Great overall vibe. Service was meh. Our server was very pleasant but not very attentive. One of the dishes we ordered the kitchen forgot to make - so we waited an extra 40 minutes for them to correct the mistake (was not comped). Food and drinks were very good but overpriced overall. There is one bartender, let's call him Javier, who works at the indoor portion of the bar, whose attitude was so disgusting it made my blood boil! I first ordered a Greenhouse cocktail and a different bartender helped me out. It was a decent drink so my friend ordered it after tasting mine. Javier made his drink and for some reason it tasted nothing like mine. Homeboy forgot to put sweetener and the drink was bitter af. So I went up to Javier and politely asked if he had forgotten to add simple syrup. He looked at me all hoity-toity and said: "m'am we don't use syrup," and smirked at me like I'm some kind of idiot. I then brought the menu to him and showed him that "simple syrup" is literally one of the ingredients. He did not look up and just mumbled " fine I'll make you guys another one". So rude! I was pissed off but didn't want him to ruin my night. Plus places like this automatically charges an 20% tip is a total BS. After a long afternoon of biking along the waterfront with a guest from Mexico, I thought a rooftop dinner at sunset would be nice. The lobby staff were extremely courteous as they checked our temperatures and ushered us to the elevator. We stopped in the restroom to wash our hands and make sure we looked presentable, ignoring several unflushed toilets then climbed to the rooftop lounge. Most of the tables were empty, and the few other diners were dressed in summer casual. Nonetheless the 12-year-old hostess politely informed us that since we were not guests of the hotel, there was a $100 minimum PER PERSON. AYFKM??!?? During Covid?!? With an almost empty restaurant?!? Either she didn't like my Jersey City bike tour t-shirt, or they need to be a little less stringent. If they lose business during Covid it's their own damn fault. Too bad, because I am a host on CouchSurfing and have had 150 guests from 45 countries in the past four years. Your loss, biches. We took our business to Luke's Lobster instead, where we were greeted with open arms and spent $90 total for a tasty outdoor meal with an up close and personal view of the Brooklyn Bridge, which was just fine. read more

Currently sitting at Harriet's as I'm typing this. The view is 10/10 and the food (specifically sushi) is quite yummy but the service is HORRIBLE! We kept trying to chase any of the servers down because no one was paying attention to us. After we were finally able to flag someone down, she was extremely rude when she took our order. We got no water even though that's literally the first thing we asked for so I ended up just getting up and grabbing some from the bar. Our food came pretty quick but we got no silverware so I ended up getting up again and grabbing some from the stand. Either hire more staff or get better servers. Incredible views, atrocious service... also, lots of ants. My girlfriend and I came for dinner on a quiet Wednesday evening. Despite the sparse crowd, it took a good 10 min to get our orders in. Food & drinks were fantastic but things quickly went downhill. We began to notice ants (not just a few, but dozens) all around the table and bench area. Fine, we'll get another round of beverages! Out comes our order (another 15 min wait) and one of the drinks is wrong "we'll take it off the tab" - ok, fine by us. Bill comes out and includes the drink, our server tells us that we're wrong and we did indeed order it? Not great. Oh, and the tip is already included for some reason. Make sure you review your bill closely. Or you might accidentally overtip for subpar service just like me! Oh - and there's no chance the tables are anywhere near 6 ft apart. read more

Not happy with the mixed drinks I was served. They were really awful. I think the juices they mixed in their specialty drinks were watered down or maybe an off brand with an odd flavor. The glassware was plastic which was expected but very opaque and cheap looking. There was also dirt or something frozen in the ice cubes. The view of the river and the city was the best thing which is why I gave it 4 stars. After the awful mixed drink I had to switch it up to beer. I was ok with this and started to enjoy the view and the evening. I did sit at an area with weirdly placed plants. It boggles my mind why they would put plants directly in front of where people can sit and enjoy the view. (Pictures attached). Concierge downstairs will tell you no walk-ups and $50min spend per person. Rooftop staff super friendly and allow you to lounge, claim a vacant table on one side of roof, with no minimum spend. So I came to this local spot near the Brooklyn bridge on a Thursday night with a friend ; first things first there is a entry fee of $20 .. I was not expecting that . So getting into the elevator to the rooftop bar .. the bar is small and it is not a full stock bar ( just keep that in mind) and the view is amazing .. you are close to the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Skyline .. The food : I had the burgers and fries ( was ok for finger food) The drinks: I would say stick to what you know . I had a poolside and did not like the drink at all . Overall: the place is a bit pricey in terms of finger food and drinks but it is a nice chill spot before starting your night or just a romantic scene if you dare . This is one of the worst hospitality treatments I have ever experienced. Up until receiving the bill, (I was overcharged 400$), the view was great and drinks were great. I came in to celebrate the 2020 New Years with 4 of my family members from out of town. I purchased the table package for up to 5 guests. Initially, when I made the reservation, the computer system was not working. I went to check my bank account statement and noticed the $1,298 ( including 18% gratuity and taxes and fees), was deducted 15 times! It was immediately refunded (after calling), so I decided to let it go, excusing this mishap. When I spoke to an employee on the phone, I was told this package includes the table, two bottles, 3 hour open bar, and small bites. All this information price breakdown was also on the website for the event as well, but I always want to be extra sure, so I confirmed this with the girl on the phone many many times. When I arrived at the event, my family and I grabbed a few drinks at the OPEN BAR and proceeded to find our table. The waiter then tells me, next time you order a drink from the open bar menu, go ahead and order from me, and i'll be happy to grab this for you. I thought this was very kind of him, but of course I asked, this is from open bar correct? He told me, "yes, no problem!" The night goes on and we we receive the bill. I noticed I was charged for every additional drink we ordered from the "OPEN BAR." I asked to speak with the manager who was so unkind and disrespectful to my cousin and I. I almost started crying. I told him I had asked the waiter in the beginning about this "open bar," and he called me a liar. He told me everything was in "the contract;" you don't sign a contract to sit at a dinner table (also he showed me no evidence of this). I told him I was obviously paying it, but it's the point that NUMEROUS members of the staff confirmed this with me in advance, and now no one is offering any kind of explanation as to why I am being charged for the open bar, while people who paid general admission aren't getting charged anything extra at all. I at least expected him to be understanding or apologize at least once, he did NONE of this. He didn't even thank me for our business. Since there were only about 5 tables, I was expected to be treated with the UPMOST RESPECT. I live in the neighborhood and will be telling everyone about my terrible saddening experience here. The pretentiousness of this manager was APALLING. There is no reason to treat anyone like this, especially when in the hospitality business. read more

Surprised that they kicked us out from the rooftop on Saturday at 9 PM... I would have loved to stay a bit longer, but perhaps it is because it is getting colder outside? I want to believe they keep it opened longer during warmer nights. After they told us they rooftop is closed, we went downstairs to the bar which still has a really nice view and great atmosphere. However, I was really disappointed that they did not offer any beers on draft in the bar! I am a bar fan and especially since they had several options up on the rooftop, I expected they will have some downstairs in the bar as well, otherwise, I would just go elsewhere right away. My group wanted to stay at least for one more drink, so we did. The service on the rooftop and at the bar was ok. Nothing to complain about, but can't say they were exactly welcoming and friendly, especially upstairs where there were hardly fifteen customers. In any case, this is a great spot to stop by for anyone living in the city but especially visiting. You get an amazing view of Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan. However, I would not say this is one of those places I would like to visit over and over again. New York has so much more to offer! read more
