Harpoons is the place to go for drinks, checking out the beach crowd and music if they have a band. Food is more Sysco then home-cooked. Clams and Sausage was very good. Their Italiano sandwich lost it's flavor. Use to be a fan favorite. Mahi sandwich was good. Chicken southwest was good. Service surprisingly was good, typically very slow and not friendly. Usually busy during the summer,and the drinks were different prices depending on who was serving you at the bar. They seemed arrogant and prideful,did not notice them to be a friendly or sociable group of individuals. I would not consider it a trustworthy establishment. read more

Not sure why all the negative buzz about this place - the vibes are amazing, the food was high quality, and the service was friendly and with a constant smile. The atmosphere is Key West meets northern lakefront - tropical, chill, and ready to party all day. We sat outside at the bar, steps from Oneida Lake, perfect to eat, drink, and people watch. We found the entire staff to be actively engaged in servicing the guests. Beer was ice cold and wow do they have lots of beers to choose from - an overwhelming menu! My friend and I ordered two types of tacos: The chicken tacos came OVERSTUFFED with tender, flavorful shredded chicken which was juicy and delicious along with diced tomatoes and onions; we asked for the Mexican Crema on the side and the modification was adhered to. The beer-battered fish tacos came with gigantic shrimp which did not fit into the taco (in other words, excellent portion size) plus pico and pickles - yes, you read that right, pickles, and yes the tacos were perfect with the pickles tucked inside! We asked for the zip-zap sauce on the side and again, the modification was adhered to. The only thing I could say (if I had to pinpoint a negative) was that the food took over 20 minutes and the dining room/outdoor bar was not terribly busy; however, this did not take away from the experience as we made friends at the bar, conversed with the bartenders, and enjoyed the view of a beautiful summer afternoon on the lake. I'd suggest any potential guests just be prepared for ticket times to be a little longer than one might be used to. First time eating here. Service was as expected for a busy night to above average. Our waitress was very polite and attentive to our group of 5. Food came out and was hot, but the food was nothing to rave about. Burger I had was decent. Cooked to requested temp but that was it. Was just kinda blah. But a burger is a burger. lol. There were definitely some other interesting items on the menu I would try on my next visit. The restaurant for sure needs a cosmetic uplift, but I will give them credit it was pretty clean for being towards the end of what I'm sure is a busy summer season. Super summer vibe, plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the beach and lake. Shareable platter is abundant and deliciously fried. Wings are the greatest and everything was served as we liked, and without delay. Tiki bar outside too. A very relaxing atmosphere! And has their own parking lot. read more

Stopped in because the view was amazing... too bad the food didn't get the memo. The chicken was so dry I'm pretty sure I could have used it as a paperweight. The veggies on the Sandwhich .. Shockingly better than the cement chicken, but let's be honest, that's not saying much. Service was fine not bad, not great, just kinda there (like my hopes for this meal). My boyfriend spoke about this place for months. He was looking forward to taking me here, and as a foodie I was looking forward to trying it. For an appetizer we got the pan seared scallops. It was served with bacon jam and a brown sugar sauce. It was absolutely amazing and tasty! That bacon jam was delicious and I want it on everything. For my entree I ordered the sausage and clams over penne. It was tossed with spinach, roasted red peppers, Parmesan and sundried tomatoes. There wasn't much sundried tomatoes, but overall the dish was tasty. My boyfriend ordered the 3 cheese pasta with lobster. There was a very generous amount of lobster in his dish! I tried a bite and it was yummy. He thinks the three cheeses were cheddar, Gruyere, and Parmesan. While the food was delish, service needed improvement. When I asked our waitress questions about the menu, she told me she didn't know. Then towards the end of our meal, she put someone else's dirty dishes on our table! I had credit card decline and card company or rather bank of my credit card declined because I was past due 3.46 and last payment was made of several hundred dollars less the 3.46! I am a good person and this never happened to me before where I could not pay a bill and I was treated more than poorly by management and the owner ! I offered to come back with cash and Rick the owner knocked my beer out of my hand and his wife told me to leave the food and told never to come back!! Disgusting behavior and yes I believe in karma! At 65, this never happened to me and they knew me from previous visits and staying in cabin in 2024 and also from applying for work to clean those cabins! Fun afternoon at Harpoon's listening to good music with tasty food and drinks! Harpoon's has never been known for speedy service but they were on point on a Sunday afternoon. Our food came quickly and our server made sure we stayed hydrated listening to the band. I have been going to harpoon eddys for the last four years. The service is top notch, the prices are reasonable, the food is fantastic and people are wining and complaining about everything recently. We stopped in on a recent trip to Sylvan Beach. It was Memorial Day weekend so it was pretty busy. We did get seated quickly but it took a little bit to get some service. Once we did, our server, Emily, was friendly and attentive! She has quite the sense of humor too! Food here is ok. Average bar food. I had the broccoli cheddar bites and they came out hot and gooey! The portion size was decent. Drinks.. I ordered a polka dot bikini and the cup it came is was very small. Paying $8-$9 for a dixie cup isn't my thing. You can't go wrong with beer here. Just beware of the mixed drinks. They had live music as well and the patio was spacious. Plenty of seating. All in all not a bad place to stop into if you're in Sylvan Beach. read more

Seven of us went on a Sunday afternoon, sat out side and service was quick and wonderful. I understand there could have been a few minutes wait time, but we did not incur that at all. People have to realize, it's summer and some restaurants are doing their best with the staff they have available. At least they are attempting to stay open and keep the help they do have, employed. No different than waiting in the drs office for a 3 PM appointment and not getting seen until 3:35 PM. Even though my time is valuable, there is not much I can do. The Caesar salad was probably the worst I've had in a long time. A lot of the lettuce was wilted and brown or yellow. The kids pizza was not good at all. Tasted like a frozen pizza. Very slow service. We arrived at 5 o'clock and nobody even said anything for 15 minutes finally, we put our entire order in and it took another 15 minutes to get two waters and a beer. The food was decent, but nobody checked on water refills and there seem to be a fair amount of people wandering around and only one waitress taking orders. Before even having been seated, (we were not greeted at the door) the terrible attitude of the Host definitely made this experience a rough one from the start. The faces these girls were making were so inappropriate. Our waitress was inattentive, and very rude. In fact, just watching a few other waitresses come serve the two other guests surrounding our table it was clear this service is standard here, all throughout. Every single one of these ladies looked MISERABLE and did not try to hide it whatsoever. It was not busy- (if it was i would somewhat sympathize) but it was all around a bad experience and it's really unfortunate because we were really excited to come here and the location was so convenient. We were also a party splitting payment (2 cards) and our waitress decided on her own that because THEIR system was down when one card was charged and it didn't go through, it was okay to charge the full bill on the other card. When asked why she would decide this without asking for the card back, "everything you're being charged for is right there on the receipt". At that point, all we could do was walk away. Save yourself the trouble, try somewhere else. I don't ever leave reviews but this experience was insane. A star for decent food. but it's really nothing special. P.S. when we asked for a box to take our food to go- we opened it to multiple bugs inside the box and had to ask for another. The perfect cherry on top for this great experience. WTF Ordered several "loaded Landsharks" #3 comes and it is clearly NOT what the previous two drinks were. Waiter brings it back and says the bartender/owner said because it was already poured they could not comp the bill and would not replace it with the RIGHT drink. This is an odd review because we have not eaten here. Based on all the negative reviews with poor service, what we would have tried out now will out on hold the idea. Time is too valuable to waste sitting there waiting forever to get waited on or extremely poorly trained waitstaff. Management needs to see what people are posting and correct it. The location is nice. Right on the beach overlooking the water. My boyfriend and I came for dinner around 7pm on a Saturday night. We waited about 15 min for a table outside. The view is stunning. They have a good drink menu. Island type drinks including frozen margaritas and wine slushies. They were out of the wine slushies when we came though. The menu has an endless amount of options but the food is overpriced and tasteless. We ordered the white pizza panini and garlic feta burger. Each were over $10 each and were dry and tasteless. And for $10 a sandwich you think it would come with fries on the side? Nope you get dry house chips and you can't substitute anything. The waitress was very friendly but the service was ridiculously slow. While we were eating a young kid was picking bottles out of the garbage on the beach next to our table..... Based on the negative reviews, I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, everything was clean and NOT sticky unlike many vacation town restaurants. It smelled like they just sanitized our table too, which was nice. Things seemed updated. They were also very accommodating, as we wanted to sit far from the live band so we could talk. They put us in the far corner which was considerate. Typical American fair but it has a homemade touch. I got the Green Hornet Burger and it was excellent. The side of homemade chips was great. My daughter got Mac and cheese and it was clearly homemade and excellent. (I believe it had Gruyere cheese in it!) wife got fires and coconut shrimp and it was all great. My daughter is a local and couldn't wait to share Eddie's with us. We finally got to go during a girl's weekend. I will start by saying it was a Saturday night and graduation weekend so it was busy. We were a table of 5 and were seated in less then five minutes. Our table was in the middle of the restaurant, but still had a pretty view of the lake. Our server was nice, but a little disorganized. Our cocktails took awhile to get to the table and were mediocre at best, definitely not worth the price. Our appetizers were probably the highlight of the meal. The garlic fries and the Beach Bread are a must try! Dinner was ok. The steamed clams were a hit, so was the lobster Mac and Cheese. Salads are fresh and huge, but the grilled chicken had a frozen chicken vibe to it, not appealing. For dessert the lemon gelato was worth trying. Key lime pie was a disappointment, but the cookie and ice cream a hit. Our last round of drinks took forever to come and showed up just as we were getting ready to leave. A decent place to come for some drinks or a meal. I came on a Saturday early evening in off season so we were able to be seated almost right away. Out waitress was attentive and kind. We all order our food and were served quickly. We all enjoyed our meals and we felt very full in the end. My Dad got sausage and clams penne, my Mom got a white pizza panini, Adam got wings & fries, and I got a BBQ burger. I loved the chips they were served with. The food was good. Nothing that was seriously amazing but you also have to remember you are in Sylvan Beach and you aren't going to get the most amazing foods ever there. The restaurant is right on the beach so you get some beautiful views especially during sunset however, you also get the sun right in your eyes. The bar area was cool and fun. My Mom said she loves to come here for some drinks and a burger which is exactly what I would expect someone to get from here. A bad thing was they had a band that was just way too loud for the small space.
