I have been eye balling this joint since we arrived at Slyvan Beach. It's a very bright venue right in front of our Vrbo. Who doesn't want to go to a joint that says food, slots and drinks in the very front of it? It just screams fun. My daughter and I headed inside. We were stopped by a security guard. He carded us since it's an 18 and up only. The security was really nice! We got carded and made our way in. All the slots were bright and calling my name. They all looked so fun but we were here for food so we headed to the restaurant. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. As beautiful as the weather is, of course we had to sit outside. The setting couldn't be more perfect. The sun was starting to set so the sky was shades of pink and blue. The clouds sprinkled the sky and the water was still. It couldn't have been more perfect view for us. Anna came and greeted us. She has the prettiest smile. She asked us what we'd like to drink. We got our sodas ordered and since I had already looked at the menu, we asked if we can go ahead and order food as well. My daughter and I both got a bowl of clam chowder and some calamari to share. Our clam chowder came out first. It was beautifully topped with bacon and green onion. The chowder was hot! I added the oyster crackers in it so they can sog up. Soggy oyster crackers are so good! The clam chowder was fantastic! It had chunky pieces of celery, potatoes and clams. It was hearty and thick. I ordered a bowl and the bowl was on the smaller side but it was actually the perfect amount. The calamari was some of the best I have ever had! The calamari was so tender. It wasn't chewy or rubbery. They were perfectly breaded and fried. The breading wasn't thick, it was light and crunchy. There was also fried pieces of banana peppers. They were so good! You dip it all in the aioli, chef's kiss. You get a generous amount of calamari. We couldn't finish it so we boxed the rest of those babies for later. The whole experience at the Lake House was phenomenal. From the setting to the service, it was all fantastic. This joint is the perfect setting for a date night. I enjoyed every minute sharing a meal with my daughter here. I'm happy my curiosity brought me to this joint. It's definitely one of my top 3 core memories from this trip. It was my first time here. I met up with two friends while I was in town to grab a quick bite and drink. We sat at the bar. I didn't catch the bartender/server's name but she was fantastic. Extremely attentive and funny, and answered any and all questions we had. She checked in just the right amount. The soup/wrap (or sandwich) special was a great deal! Really enjoyed the 1/2 casino, 1/2 beach vibe. Even while the outside world looked dead (hey - it's end of winter in Sylvan Beach after all) it was all good vibes inside! Beautiful view but since the previous manager left the service is not as attentive despite having plenty of staff. When the bus boy asks if you need a box and brings it should likely tell the server you are ready to leave. We waited quite a while not very busy for our check. Had to ask for the refill on empty soda cup after appetizer. Prices the same and food options still delicious. We will return just not as often as we have. read more

The outside really replicas the inside. Such a cute spot. If you can sit outside only if it's nice weather as I did get that and was able to enjoy. We had a wonderful waitress Jess who was on point with all our questions about the area and very welcoming when you came in. It says here on YELP that dogs are allowed, but we weren't allowed in with our dog. I was bummed, really wanted to try them and wish they would update this site and let people know that dogs aren't allowed. Fortunately the Crazy Clam next door welcomed us and our well behaved doodle with open arms. I would recommend the Crazy Clam if you are traveling with your dog. I would suggest that more places with outdoor seating allow your dogs in because they are family too and you probably lose about 50% of customers by not being dog friendly. read more

The Lake House is a scenic and fun place to eat, if you enjoy gambling......only slots. Sits right on Sylvan Beach so if you dine outside the views are spectacular. They offer live music on Friday and Saturday evenings which sets a great ambience on the deck while eating or having some drinks at the outdoor bar. The food is good, well portioned, but not over the top. I had the Elote burger and was cooked perfectly again good flavor, truffle fries were well seasoned and the garlic aioli added a nice touch. My wife ordered the blueberry Swiss grilled cheese....before you go into shock, the flavors were amazing , she loved it, and actually finished hers before I finished mine which typically doesn't happen! The best part was the service and the wedge salad we shared as an appetizer. Service is over the top here, very attentive and great conversation. Our sharing plates were dirty and the calamari was dry. The service was pretty bad for the prices they charge for everything as well we had to hunt our waitress down for more water constantly. The Lake House opened in the summer of 2020 and posits itself as a semi-upscale waterfront restaurant and slots casino on Lake Oneida. It is located where the historic music hall and venue DiCastro's once was. I don't gamble so my review is solely for restaurant (note: you have to be 18+ to eat at the restaurant). Being right on the lake is a huge draw and dining on the outdoor patio during the summer is a very nice experience. I recommend making a reservation; the wait can be 45 minutes to an hour on a weekend night. While plenty of diners come wearing dressy "date night" attire, I've always worn casual clothing and never had a problem. The food is good but truthfully nothing special. The drinks are what really shine, though. Great prices ($9-$12) and many options. They've also had live music on the outdoor patio each time I have went. The ambience is overall very nice and the Lake House does a great job keeping the restaurant and the casino portions separate. read more

We had a good experience here. The food was good and being on the lake was cool. Problem is we went in the dark so no great views. The staff was very friendly. They took a reservation. We had 7 in our party. All our food came out at the same time. I liked that the hostess helped the waitress bring our food to the table. It made me feel like the staff was "all one team." We visited this restaurant on what turned out to be a surprisingly busy Wednesday evening. We were pleasantly surprised by an excellent menu, prompt, friendly service and the clean, comfortable patio overlooking Oneida Lake in Sylvan Beach. Six servers were kept hopping, bringing out a variety of food and beverages, all of which looked delicious. Our Mediterranean veggie wrap and fish and chips were Properly prepared and drinks were excellent. I would highly recommend this establishment; we will definitely be back! read more

I've been here before and really enjoyed it, however this time was a huge disappointment. We came in specifically to grab drink and sit overlooking the lake. We were told that the outdoor bar was closed. That was a bummer, but the hostess told us we could get drink at the indoor bar and sit outside, so that was the plan. We sat at the bar and waited...and waited...and waited...and...well you get the picture. So we sat and the bartender (Luke) walked by us no less than 6 times and while he looked right at us - he NEVER acknowledged us. Not a nod, wave, smile - nothing. The bar was busy, so I get that we weren't top on the list, but noting a customer and letting them know you see them and will be with them goes a long way to make up for the wait. We enjoyed their NYE 4-course meal. Each course was a decent portion and flavorful. My favorites were the bruschetta and rack of lamb. Lamb can be easy to overcook and here it was cooked perfectly. For dessert we ordered the chocolate torte and turtle cheesecake. The cheesecake was not flavored like a chocolate turtle. It was a regular slice with caramel and chocolate drizzled on top - a bit of a let down in comparison to the rest of the meal. Location, quality of food and service does not warrant their prices. You will get better food, prices and service in local establishments. Point place and Yellow Brick are not any better. Service in general is sub par at all of them. The only above average restaurants they have are at Turning Stone. Our average tip ranges between 20% and 30% depending on service. Tonight's dinner we decided to make a short drive to Sylvan Beach. The town was packed! We were going to catch a bite at Harpoon Eddie's, but the place was jammed. So we decided to head over to The Lake House. For starters, we had the spicy bang bang bada bing shrimp. Bang bang shrimp with pineapple salsa. Very tasty but seemingly a small potion. We also had the calamari. It was tossed with banana peppers. The sauce that accompanied it was a roasted red pepper aoli. Excellent pairing. Again, a smaller portion than the norm. For dinners we had three entrees. I had the Galaxi Burger. It had cheddar cheese, bacon, fried jalapeno, crispy onions, and a worcestershire mayo. All atop a toasted toasted brioche bun. It came out medium as ordered, but did not resemble a freshly pattied burger. It was good though. Marge and Amy ordered the Baja Fish tacos. It was beer-battered haddock, citrus slaw, pico de gallo, jalapeño, and baja sauce. All filled inside grilled tortillas. It was excellent. My friend ordered the Lake House Buffalo Bleu Wrap. It consisted of chicken tenders, buffalo sauce, blue cheese dressing, celery, romaine lettuce, and cheddar cheese. All encompassed in a herb wrap. Again, an excellent choice. All four of us had 2 drinks each as well. The four meals along with a generous tip came to $105 per couple. Our waitress Danielle was very on point and explanatory. Friendly as well. So we went here on a Saturday for lunch. I wasn't expecting much as Sylvan Beach is past its day but I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the calamari and lobster pot pies. Both were very good and full of flavor. The calamari was fresh and all rings. The lobster pot pies each had two lobster claws and extra meat with potatoes and corn. I thought it was very good but a touch on the salty side (and I like salt). The beer selection was very good, it's just disappointing they had nothing on tap (maybe because it's a small restaurant) . The mixed drink & wine choices were varied as well. The view was very nice even though it's winter. You can tell thought went into the amount a windows, outdoor deck and decor. Lake House is a 5 for the patio and view, a 3 for the food so I will give them a 4. The menu is pretty limited and doesn't have anything very unique that you can't get elsewhere in the Beach which was a little disappointing. We started with fried calamari that was probably straight off the Sysco truck. It was ok but nothing special. I got the shrimp po' boy that was pretty tasty but expensive for what I got. They are doing a great job with COVID precautions with well distanced tables, masks and they even covered the drinks while bringing them to the table which was a nice touch. The view of the lake from the patio is beautiful and a great place to go to catch the sunset. The casino is pretty small, especially with distancing measures in place and seems to have only slots, no video poker which was disappointing but I can only assume has something to do with the way the Indian gaming rules work in NY. read more
