The customer service at this location is horrible!!! If not they would have 5 Stars. They are rude and unorganized. They speak with an attitude and could never seem to get the order right. ONLY reason I come to this location is because the cooks really know how to make the food perfect. All props to the cooks! read more

Right after a Bulls game. Up the street from the stadium on Madison. I'd give this location four stars. They opened early this year. Food came out fast. Was very tasty. We had the fried jumbo shrimp and an order of perch. Food was crispy and fresh. They had multiple sides of cocktail sauce, mild sauce and ketchup. IDE defines recommend this location. read more

Chicago Native here so Harold's is always a favorite BUT this particular location is rude and consistently sends the wrong order. I've ordered twice through UberEats and BOTH times my order was incorrect. When I asked what we can do to rectify it, the woman who answered the phone immediately cut me off and instructed we contact UberEats. Please note that UberEats is just responsible for the delivery not the actual order, which obviously is the restaurant's responsibility. I have a feeling the company won't make any changes due to the negative reviews, but I wanted to warn other potential customers to ensure they are aware of the clear unprofessionalism at this location. read more

A recommended Chicago Chicken wing destination, wings and fries were cooked well but needed more seasoning, should've opted for lemon pepper. Large menu selection, friendly staff but wasn't to knowledgeable about all the menu selections. The food from the food truck at the Taste of Chicago tasted better in my opinion. read more

First and foremost, I want to say that I LOVE fried chicken! I've been to Gus' and Frenchy's in Houston, but the chicken at Harold's was amazingly delicious. I wasn't even hungry, but I wanted to try this place out. It was freshly fried and piping hot. The batter was perfectly seasoned and it was the best fried chicken I've ever had. It was crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. I could have eaten a few more pieces because it was so good. I usually like my chicken spicy, but I didn't really need the sauce. I had my sauce on the side, which was tasty, but I was so addicted to the flavor of the deep fried chicken skin. The service was excellent and the restaurant was clean! Definitely 5 stars and would highly recommend. We ate the chicken so fast, I didn't even get to take pics. Enjoy though! You'll love it! read more

Overall OK experience. issue I would say is that they don't include your extra sauces when you purchase for pick up so PLEASE REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR FOOD. I paid 50 cents for an extra sauce and didn't get it. Not to mention the food had no damn sauce on it lol. Dry ass chicken. They always want to increase prices but then be stingy as hell with the condiments! this shit should NOT be dry if I ask for mild sauce and pay for an extra sauce. Famous chicken in Chicago? I'm not sure it was for me. I order chicken and fries. I was asked what sauce I wanted for my chicken and picked the famous medium. What I wasn't asked is if I wanted my fries drenched in it. It made my fries soggy and I didn't even eat them. My sister got friend gizzards (I couldn't tell you how they taste) but they were always drenched in sauce without asking her. Overall it was good but it didn't live up to the hype for me. read more

Food took 45 minutes to get a $20 order so this sign lied. Whatever girl workin the front had annoying attitude and shitty service this joint was trash. When food came out fries were stale somehow even though they are covered in sauce. Chicken came out decent but wasn't worth the wait. Worst part of it all is that I was charged $1.00 on a packet of trash ranch which may be worse than anything. read more

First time ordering from this location. Ordered thru Door Dash. And since I can't leave reviews there, I'm here. First, the chicken is good but over-brined and too much pepper and salt in the breading. Ease up on the brining!! No more than 12 hours or reduce salt in brine. My order was saltier than my auntie after stepping on her bunions. Second, no one, I repeat, NO ONE eats Harold's fries. They're there for one reason---to catch the grease from the chicken. So that being said, no need to put good sauce on them. Sauce should be on the chicken. Period. And to charge $.50 for it to be on the side is just greedy. (side eye) Finally, change the fried okra brand. Most Harold's use a okra with a cornmeal breading. I have no idea what this breading was. Doesn't stay on the okra and absorbed too much oil. Terrible customer service. Yelled at us that they're closed since it's 5 but it's 4:10 PM. Previously hung up on me 7 times before they took my order. New location. Customer service was great! Wait times at all Harolds Chicken Shack are long so I'm used to it. The food however was.... well I'm not a fan of jumbo, steroid like, genetically modified like chicken. So this is the fourth time I have come here and ordered the same thing, and tried the same coupon advertised on Yelp, $5 off any order over $15. And the first 2 times I got the ,sorry we don't know how to apply that coupon so you are going to have to pay full price speech. Today, she gave me attitude and also added " look, Yelp did that coupon not us. But AS A COURTESY, I'll just knock off $5, but you can't come up in here next week with this same coupon crap!" She really made a scene and made me feel uncomfortable. NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN!!!!!!!! Really messed up that Yelp requires you to give at least 1 star for reviews. read more

I go to this location often but am growing disappointed in the size of the wings and the burnt fries. I'd rather pay a little extra at the Wicker Park location than get tiny over cooked wings and inedible fries. Customer service needs work. But I'll deal with poor service if the food is worth it. Get your chicken fix here for a great deal. Stopped by walking home from a Monday Bulls game. It was early dinner time and there were a couple of other customers around. I went with the 3 piece meal with mild sauce, fries, and coleslaw to go. After a short walk home, the food was still good. I can see how the staff might not be the most friendly or attentive but I had a fine experience. Keep your order simple and straightforward. I found out my Chicago friends don't know much about chicken. Its not that the chicken is bad, its just that it doesn't taste very good. The chicken was mid, regular, average, whatever you want to call it. There was absolutely nothing spectacular about what I tasted. I've been all over the country, I have 13 more states left to go to before I can say I've been to all 50. In every single one of these states I've been to I have had better chicken. Everywhere I went in Chicago, Chicagoians told to me to get some chicken from Harolds. I feel sorry for my brothers and sisters in Chicago. I want you to taste better chicken. I called and was out on hold which was fine but when he came back to the phone he asked me how to help when I started to say my order he started to speak with someone in front of him. When I asked are you talking to me he said yes and continue to take someone in person order. Very unorganized and unprofessional. The worst customer service every time I come here for a pickup. Employees are always giving a rude attitude. Today the employee taking care of customers can't even greet you or even look you in the eyes. Worst Harold's I've been to in the city! We chose this location due to its very convenient, late-night hours. Called ahead to order our food and was told about 20-25 minutes. When we arrived to pick up our food, we immediately noticed the heat was out and our order was not ready- we arrived well after the quoted time due to Chicago's ever changing roads and routes- leaving us to wait in the freezing cold. There are also various differences in the pricing and standards at this location. For example, the sauce that comes WITH OUR MEAL was charged extra to our bill because we requested it on the side. The hot sauce that comes free at other locations was extra. No water cups are given/ allowed. I'm surprised we weren't charged for the napkins and ketchup (we were reluctantly given a few extra of both). The food was slightly overcooked, salty, and left much to be desired. These subtle charges and practices really make a difference in the overall experience. This franchise could take note from its partners in the city. read more

The only critique I could levy was that by virtue of being twice fried, both were very crispy, crispier than I would have liked. My second experience was less tasty and more chaotic. Walking in, one of the booths looked like a microburst had gone through. The cashier let me know that they were slammed with pickup orders, and that getting my food would take ~15-20 minutes. Since the cooks were managing a massive influx of orders, I didn't want to pull them away from their duties, and asked the manager to be called out from the back. I brought it to their attention, and it was promptly cleaned. However, it may have been wise to keep a better eye on things, for seeing such chaos almost led to me walking out and not returning. When it comes to the food, this time around it was disappointing. Despite food constantly coming fresh out the fryer, my fries and sandwich felt and tasted as if they'd been sitting out for 10-15 minutes. While I appreciate the need to fulfill pickup orders, allowing the food of a customer waiting in person to go ignored feels inappropriate. Further, despite being ordered as "hot", the sandwich was a medium at best (I have a high heat tolerance, so YMMV). The service overall has been fine for a fast-casual spot. Not award-winning or meme'd for their hospitality (*ahem* Chick-fil-A) but acceptable for what it is. The vibe is on the smaller side, with three booths. There is a very slightly retro, classic-rock-like feel to the vibe. Final verdict: My two experiences have fallen short for me. The first led to food that was overly crisp, and the second felt like food I might as well have had delivered. While not bad, there is no shortage of chicken shops in Chicagoland that have a superior, more consistent product.

ordered from here today and this was the worst customer service i've ever experienced. when i called to speak with a manager the rude ass broad at the register stated she was the manager and the way she spoke (unprofessionally) whoever promoted her needs to seriously rethink that...when my order had to be fixed she had an attitude she spent the time at the counter being annoyed by whatever...i will never spend money at this establishment again unless she is not there she is very argumentative and does not listen to customers at all bad business ethics...i do not want to rate because this is not even worth stars so since i have to i'll give it a half star read more
