I initially posted a bad review of this company based on one encounter with Harold, that had irked me because I was offended by the fact that he treated me like "the little woman" and wanted to deal with my husband. However after we eventually chose an alternate contractor, everyone I spoke to in my neighborhood, would tell me to use Harold Westwood. If I asked anyone who did their drive or patio, the answer was always them. When I asked on several community forums and Facebook pages, I also got the same answer. So I swallowed my pride, and actually had the nerve to call them and ask for Dave to come out again and quote me for our new stamped concrete patio. I am amazed he even came out after my review, which I was praying he hadn't seen, (he had)! Dave (Harold's son) was great, very personable friendly guy who seriously knows his stuff when it comes to stamping. I expected their quote to be more expensive because of their excellent reputation, but in fact it was very competitive, of the 3 quotes we had, they were right in the middle and cheaper than the contractor we planned to use, and the cheaper quote didn't include all the extras that were automatically included in Westwood's. We decided to go with Harold Westwood and even decided to get our driveway done at the same time. Well the work is now complete and we couldn't be happier. They worked fast, but remained meticulous about every detail. The crew were like a well oiled machine the way they worked together. It was obvious they were all very experienced and well trained, and Dave's attention to detail was outstanding, he really cares about the final result and wants the best for his clients. Harold stopped by several times during the process to check in with both the crew and us, and all I can say is, I think I must have had a bad case of PMS the first time he came round because you couldn't meet a nicer, more sincere man. He is just of a different generation, (when men were gentlemen), and I should have taken that into account at our first meeting. He has been in the industry all his life and between himself and his son Dave, there's nothing they don't know about concrete. I really couldn't recommend Harold Westwood Concrete highly enough. I would totally use them again if I ever had the need. (And no I haven't been paid to write this updated and glowing review, they really did earn it). read more

I only have great things to say about Harold Westwood concrete. They tore up and replaced my driveway about 5 years ago. It continues to look great, only needs sealing every couple of years, but that is normal. I would recommend them to anyone needing concrete work down at a fair value. You won't need it done twice, which will happen if you choose your contractor based solely on price. read more

Initially, when we were soliciting bids for our driveway, Dave was very responsive, and even, due to our vacation schedule, adhered to our timeline. His crew arrived on the scheduled date, and scheduled time. The project went ahead as scheduled, but, I was a little disappointed that his crew had no respect for the plantings on the side of my driveway, and completely destroyed one entire side of plantings. Come January, we noticed that two sections of the driveway had cracks in them, and yes, I know that concrete cracks. However, I had a clause inserted into our contract to repair certain defects. Dave responded to my initial email stating that he would address this issue in April. Come April, emails weren't addressed, and total radio silence. I filed a complaint with the BBB, and amazingly, Dave emailed the next day stating that he would be out to repair the driveway. Hoping that his "repairs", which took maybe 15 minutes will address the issue. Long story, short...there are issues with Dave communicating with clients post job status. read more

I'd say 3.5 stars would be the ideal rating, but my desire to support local independent businesses rounds me up to a 4. Excellent work-they removed my asphalt driveway, poured and finished a concrete one, and installed a stamped concrete extension on my patio. The work looks good and they left the job clean afterwards. The price was very competitive and they worked with the city regarding permit inspections (you need to get your own permit to start). Keep in mind that they are a small independent business, so insist on a timeframe for when your project will occur. They don't have dozens of work crews going-focus on quality and not quantity of jobs is how I'd characterize it. read more

Dave Westwood did a great job replacing our old asphalt driveway with a very nice concrete one. I love the final results but the path getting here was a but bumpy. We had problems with communicating with Dave and it took multiple attempts before we got a response to emails or phone calls. Site cleanup was also a weak point. I'm still picking up fist sized chunks of asphalt from my lawn. The chopped out 2 inches of lawn to put the wood forms for the concrete and made a large pile of sod. After the driveway was completed and they removed the wood form, we had trenches on the sides of the driveway. We were disappointed to find out that Westwood was not going to fix the trench and we had to replace the sod ourselves. These are not huge issues which is why I've only deducted one star. I'm very pleased with the end product so far. read more

We called upon Harold Westwood to expand our current patio footprint and to add a slab for a potential hot tub addition to the yard. The communication was great from start to finish. Harold personally came over to quote the job and was in communication with Dave and his team throughout the process. Dave Westwood of Harold Westwood Concrete poured our backyard patio in the summer of 2019. During the following winter, we noticed that water was pooling on it near the foundation (at the time he poured it, he assured us this wouldn't happen because it would be graded so the water would run away from the house). I e-mailed Dave twice about the problem, but he did not respond. Despite multiple attempts, I was unable to raise him on the phone, either. Frustrated at his lack of response, I finally reached out to his father, Harold. He admitted that his son Dave "wasn't good about returning calls", but promised he would prevail upon him to reach out to address the problem. In his defense, he mentioned that Harold Westwood Concrete had recently lost two employees and was simply overwhelmed with work, and that contributed to his son's lack of response. In any event, it's inexcusable. I'm not sure I've ever experienced such an utter lack of follow-through by any local business. If you're looking for someone to pour your deck or driveway and then wash their hands of you, this is probably the company for you. read more

This is a first rate family owned business that really knows concrete. Harold is the owner and takes very good care of his customers. His son Dave runs the crew and they do a fabulous job. Very efficient, but with attention to detail. We had our asphalt driveway replaced, a new sidewalk installed, and a couple of squares replaced on our front walk. It looks terrific. They did two of our neighbors in previous years and several others in the neighborhood. All of those drives look great as well. I do not hesitate to recommend them. read more

We had a terrible experience with another contractor who cut corners and our driveway fell apart after 6 months. Harold came in and re-did it for us and explained thoroughly what andy how he would do things differently. He stopped by several times to inspect the job before, during and after. I have never written a review before but I don't want anyone else wasting their money. My husband and I hired Westwood Harold Concrete Inc. to pour a stamped concrete patio and sincerely regret the decision. We chose them because they were $1/square foot cheaper than all of the other estimates we received. First, it took Westwood Harold six weeks to finally get registered in our village so we could get approved for a permit, not because the village was taking so long but because the owners son would constantly delay dropping off the necessary paperwork. After repeated phone calls to both the son and owner throughout the six weeks, they finally did their part and dropped off the registration paperwork so the permit process could continue. This should of been a warning sign. Once work began, it was completed in a reasonable amount of time, however the finished product was far from spectacular for the amount of money this cost us. The slope of a concrete patio should be 1/4 inch for every 1 foot in length, however, it is obvious by just looking at our patio that the slope is much more extreme. So extreme in fact, that we need to place a brick under two legs of our grill so it stands evenly and doesn't lean, as well as prop up our patio table so plates and glasses do not slide off. You can visibly SEE the drastic down slope of our patio just by looking at it and you can feel it while walking around as well. In addition to the drastic slope, the concrete poured was supposed to be colored so it doesn't look like regular concrete on the sidewalk. Well, guess what? It wasn't. We had a concrete step put in as well which was actually colored to the color we had chosen and it looks fabulous. Then the rest of our concrete patio is the color of regular grey concrete and does not match the step at all. Finally, once we looked at the patio close up there were tiny cracks in it already! After several phone calls to the son and the owner regarding the visible appearance of our patio we got nowhere. They insist that the patio is supposed to be sloped that much and that is it in fact the color that we wanted and cracks like that are perfectly normal. We are making the best of our situation but I truly feel that I could have received a better result from another contractor and will never be calling these gentlemen for another job ever again. Please save yourself the headache and spend your hard earned money somewhere else. read more
