Superb late night grub! We shared the classic burger, the fried chicken sandwich, the jerk fries, and the cookies and cream shake. Our undisputed favorite was the burger. Two super thin smash burger patties in a potato bun with onions, pickles, and sauce. I'd place it somewhere above Shake Shack but below 7th Street. Fried chicken sandwich was fine, but the sauce it came with was awesome. I think it was a mayo and dill sauce. So good. The chicken sandwich on its own was skip-able but worthwhile either way the sauce. Jerk fries were decent too. Medium thickness. Slightly crispy and slightly greasy. A balance fry. I don't think it was worth the 50% surge for the jerk seasoning. Shake was solid too but I probably would have opted for one of the classic ones like chocolate or vanilla. Service was quick. Charsu and I came here for dinner before heading to the spa. They ordered a classic burger, regular fries, and a peanut butter milkshake. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, regular fries, and the salted caramel milkshake. We wanted to try the soursop milkshake but, that was sold out. A lot of their specials they had listed was actually sold out which is confusing to why they still had them up on the specials board. When we ordered, the cashier was apparent she didn't want to be there. She didn't really acknowledge us when we came in and when we were asking what was available she was providing one word responses. It was weird, when we sat down to consume our meals, she greet _some_ people but, not others. I guess we didn't make the cut. Charsu said the classic was okay but, the hot mess burger was way better. I thought the chicken sandwich was okay too. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back for it. The meat was big and juicy. We were surprised that the bread wasn't toasted (just the burnt edges) or had any mayo or spread on it. The fries were fresh and tasty. Charsu enjoyed her milkshake but, my milkshake was super runny and had the consistency of melted ice cream soup. I asked them if they could remake it and I was met with an eye roll and "what do you want me to do about it" as a response. I wasn't going to leave until they fixed the milkshake and the woman was unresponsive that a guy came from the back and made me a new one.....with guess what, the correct consistency! The female staff members served up attitude and display so much disinterest that it really took a toll on our experience here. I've been walking past this store front for months it seems like, patiently waiting for it to open. It wasn't quite what I expected. I ordered a Harlem classic, which is basically their version of a cheeseburger. It was an extra 50 cents to have the onions grilled, which I found strange. The burger was also really tiny and bare.....no lettuce? no tomatoes? just meat, cheese, onions, and sauce. I thought it would come with more works, but the burger was really empty. Perhaps the other items on the menu have more things on them, but I'll have to stop by again to see. Flavor-wise though, the burger was good! I just really wish it came with more toppings. The curly fries though--delicious. I'd been craving curly fries for the longest time, and these hit the spot. They were crispy, curly perfection, and they came with a dipping sauce that was similar to Thousand Island sauce (perhaps it was). The fries were a generous portion, too. We saw a ton of people with milkshakes, which is the next thing I'm going to try. I was also intrigued by their hot chicken sandwich. I used to work uptown close to the original location and was elated to see one in my own borough. The decor is a mini, light filled version of the original (no bathroom ), retro, clesn and airy. Of course, I snagged the dimepiece, with the burger and fries. The staff was friendly and efficient, my food was ready in about 5min. Only issue was the fries were kind of cold. The sweet potato fries were good, but I wish they were crunchier. If you don't eat them fast enough, they can get kind of soggy, and I don't like that. First couple of times were delicious as the veggie burger mix is unique. However, the last few times, the veggie patty was severely undercooked. Wow this is a wonderful spot! We came on a Friday night and we're expecting to have to wait. Luckily, we got a table with no wait. The staff were nice and knowledgeable and were happy to offer suggestions when we couldn't decide what we wanted. The burger was delicious. Juicy and filled with flavor. The truffle fries were sooo good. I was extremely impressed. We also ordered the chicken and 2 milkshakes. The milkshakes were the perfect thicknesses and our food came out fairly quickly. SHAKE SHACK RIP-OFF Harlem Shake is like a fast food to-go joint, and has a seating area. I came in before dinner rush and there weren't many people. However the service was still slow. I order the fried chicken sandwich, regular fries and vanilla milkshake. My friend got the classic Harlem burger, curly fries w/chipotle sauce. The burgers were small, considering the price. The burgers looked more like sliders. The buns was a bit mushy and reminded me of Hawaiian Buns. My friend pointed out the cheap ingredients considered how overpriced the burger was. The fried chicken sandwich was super dry! There was no sauce and the only moisture in the burger came from the cole slaw. The fries was bland and I had to salt it. Some of the fries was soggy. Curly fries are my favorite types of fries, I didn't order it this time because my friend got it instead. I tried some of my friend's and I'm honestly disappointed. It did not had enough seasoning and was not as crispy as I thought. Arby's curly fries are better. The only thing on my tray that I liked was the vanilla milkshake. It was better than in-n-out's shake, not a great comparison though because in-n-out's was remarkably cheaper. Harlem Shake feels like a Shake Shake knock-off with unique decor. I wouldn't have critiqued this place too hard if it wasn't for the price range. Would've expected much higher quality food. Everything here was worse than Shake Shack. Finally tried out this place for lunch on an unassuming Thursday. It was really cute to see the culture behind Harlem Shake in predominantly white yuppie Park Slope. They had ample seating indoors (booth style and table) as well as outdoors (though beware, the music is a bit loud, even if no one else is there). We went with two burger lunch specials -- one with cole slaw and another with french fries. The burgers are really interesting: brioche bun with two really skinny patties whose advantage is getting the nice crisp burnt-ish bits that make your burger crispy. Wedged between those patties was a slice of cheese (American, I think) that helped the whole thing melt in your mouth. Unfortunately, the fries were a bit of a let down and the cole-slaw was vinegar based and didn't really do much in terms of balancing out the density of the burger. All in all, solid burger, sides could use some work. I'm not sure I would go out of my way to seek Harlem Shake out, though. read more

I had the hot mess which is like two thin smash patties with a slice of cheese in btwn and some spicy picked bacon, onions, and special sauce. It was perfect combination of salty, tangy, oniony. I cherished every bite and wished it never ended . It gave me in-and-out vibes but tastier. I also had the fries which were basic and could've gone without and the georgette drink (watermelon mixed with lemonade), which was alright. Great burger. Great service. All-around great neighborhood burger joint. Harlem Shake hits all the right notes with their burger starting with the potato roll. The patties are smashed and griddled (similar to Shake Shack) and are cooked to perfection. They are then spanked with American cheese, onions, and pickles (if you want). This is straight-up throwback food, but also maintains a note of modernity...like a Bruno Mars song, but in food form. The fries come in many varieties, but I went with the jerk fries to change things up a bit. Every peppery bite was as tasty as the last and bonus points for the accompanying cup of jerk mayo to bring a little cooling to a fiery upgrade of America's favorite side dish. Give them a shot. I definitely plan to return and try the Hot Mess Burger, but on a day when I'm not wearing a white t-shirt. Give this newcomer to the neighborhood a try! read more

I've wanted to try this spot for a while now but I never made my way up to Harlem for it, then randomly I saw that they opened a spot in Brooklyn. Harlem shake doesn't disappoint it's a classic burger joint that has a great atmosphere and even better food. It's located at 119 5th Avenue. I got the classic beef burger with special sauce, truffle oil, bacon and cheddar cheese + jerk fries. I had to try the classic Harlem shake with red velvet, I added Oreos. I love this place - it's an excellent smash burger, great to support a local business especially since the Shake Shack at Barclays is particularly terrible. The burger is great, thin patties, fresh ingredients, and a really solid special sauce. The curly fries are great, and the chipotle mayo is incredible. I'm also a big fan of the milkshakes - nobody does a good malt anymore, but the chocolate malt at Harlem Shake is perfect. Great ambiance as well - they have a fun 50s diner vibe, and I like that they put old sitcoms or cartoons up on the TV instead of sports or the news. Had a late lunch at Harlem Shake on Sunday afternoon. A solid smashburger and even better milkshakes. Quality: I prefer a thick burger to a smash burger, but there is no doubt that the food here is delicious. I had a few bites of both the Classic Burger and the Hot Mess Burger, with the Classic being my favorite of the two. Special sauce wins out over the pickled relish and chipotle mayo. Loved the soft buns and the meat was quite tasty. We went with Curly Fries as a side, which were good, though I could have used them a bit crispier. The signature Harlem Shake was the highlight of the meal, love the red velvet flavor. Quantity: The smash burgers are easy to finish, so more than one may be needed, especially if you are sharing fries. Value: $8 for the Classic Burger. $10 for the Hot Mess Burger. $5 for Curly Fries. $6 for a Harlem Shake. Ambiance: Harlem Shake has two locations, we visited the one in Park Slope. The exterior has an old school look, with awnings and lights that remind you of car hops. Inside that look is continued with a classic color scheme and menu. They have a massive wall of notable black celebrities and advocates that draws your eye. There are a few tables and booths inside, then two separate large outdoor eating sections, one in a street shelter and the other under an awning. The person in the front Carlos has a nasty attitude. What I ordered was the incorrect order (which is obviously on me) and I tried to clarify that with him before I left and was reassured. When I got home I realized it was in fact the wrong order. I drove allll the way back, to change the order and was willing to pay the difference and spoke first with a different gentleman who was kind and told me that I had to wait for Carlos. Which I did. Carlos comes in 10-15 mins later and initially started to working on the computer. I realize I had also left one of the burgers at home, in my haste to get back to the store. I was willing to just cut my losses and pay for that one and pay the difference for the one I had in hand. Then he says he has a policy that it has to be within an hour of when I received the product. I told him that it was within an hour and showed him evidence of that. Then it was just that I couldn't return because I only had one burger, even though I said I would pay in full for that one. Honestly, all of that is fine. Your policy is your policy... I guess. The worst part of it all was the attitude that he had towards me. It was unnecessarily rude. The tone he used was unacceptable, for something as small as this. He could've refused my request without the attitude that he had. Which I told him. His response was "I didn't raise my voice". Don't see myself ever returning, just off that alone. I don't know what's been going on here recently but the last two orders I have ordered have arrived totally wrong-and they do not respect substitutions or take allergies seriously. In the first order they even totally forgot to send my Shake. Which is one of the main reasons I ordered from here. And both times if we didn't check the orders we could've gotten really sick. Both times we called the restaurant in park slope to notify the staff about the issues and they insisted there is nothing they did wrong and they would not correct the order or send a replacement meal, leaving us without dinner. Best Fried Chicken Sandwich I've had in Brooklyn. A bold statement I know, but it's true. I was a devout Sweet Chick goer but those days are behind me. The Classic Fried Chicken was not only insanely delicious, it was nearly half the price of my former chicken church. My daughter and I both had the classic and shared the Yam fries and a Vanilla Malt. Both of them are fire! According to my uberEats app, I've ordered here no less than 11x in the past year. I always get the Burger specifically the Harlem Classic. When I'm feeling extra hungry then I'll get the Hot Mess which is amazing. The fries are pretty good here. My favorite is the Parmesan truffle which is a bit expensive $10 for the portion. I always opt for the Jerk Fries which is a calm $5.59 which comes with a nice spicy Mayo to dip it in. I always always get the watermelon juice. It's super refreshing. I've tried the lemonade which is pretty good but I mean..watermelon. It can be hit or miss when you're dealing with delivery but it's been consistently tasty! read more

Ordered last night through Uber Eats about 15 min before closing time. Got their classic burger, a chocolate shake, and a can of soda. The delivery was very fast and the driver was friendly. The burger I thought was really good. Crispy thin patties that weren't over done, fresh grilled bun and nice veggies. I ordered it just how they have it on their website, with onions, pickles, and special sauce. I really enjoyed the combo, and wouldn't have normally ordered it this way. The milkshake was good. Burgers are meh at best, really no flavor and super dry. They were rejected by my 7 year old niece and I only ate mine because I was starving. We both agree the shakes are good, she had strawberry and I have peanut butter. For the price of two burgers, two small shakes, and one small fry, over $40 is a bit bonkers. Try this new, fantastic burger place out! They have a more detailed laminated menu at the counter that describe the different burgers. Service woman was very warm and service oriented! Tried their Hot Mess burger with tomato sauce with jalepenos, slight relish with cheese. It smelled and tasted delicious, very characteristic. Also had curly fries and their BIG large Cesar kale salad which was also delish! Also tried their Georgette, a watermelon and lemonade. I had problems placing my order but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. That's not only because they just opened, but because the burger is so good I know I'm going to be back, and soon. These guys serve a better product than Black Iron Burger and at half the price. The kale caesar salad surprised me too - they blanch the greens first so they're tender and mild, not bitter. Found Harlem Shake and went there instead. Had their lunch special named 'Dimepiece Combo' of a Chicken Sandwich & Fries for $10. With tax the total was $11.89. Didn't take long at all, and came out hot, as all cooked food should. Small little place with decent seating for its size. The Chicken Sandwich was good and so were the fries. They're delivery process is unprofessional so unfortunately that taints my experience; maybe they're better in person. They messed up my order and only sent half of the items I paid for. I requested a refund thru the delivery app so I can re order the items missed but I wasn't allowed due to a delivery minimum and they offered no solution, just a "sorry thats just how it is". So I was left with half the food I ordered and store credit I'm unlikely to use with them since customer service only matters in person.
