Stopped by on Sunday, 4/19/26. I believe this is my first time trying this place out - it's been such a long time since I've been inside this food court plaza (maybe in over a decade). Located inside the GW Supermarket, there are other foodie places adjacent as well and they are all extremely affordable! THIS PLACE ACCEPTS CASH ONLY. ALSO, THE BLACK MENU POSTED ON THE WALL IS OUTDATED - PLEASE REFER TO THE PAPER MENU VERSION. I ordered the following to go: - 1 seafood with chow mein (crispy noodle) = $12 (however in the paper menu it says $11.50, I believe they charged me an extra $0.50 since I opted in for the crispy noodle instead of the soft noodle) - 1 yang chow fried rice = $10 - 1 beef chow mein = $11 SUBTOTAL = $33 TAX = $3.20 OVERALL TOTAL = $36.20 The wait time took around 10 minutes. It gets really hot in the dining area so you might be a bit uncomfortable dining indoors and/or waiting for your order. THE MOST AFFORDABLE PLACE YOU CAN FIND - AUTHENTIC CHINESE FOOD.

was craving wonton noodles and decided to stop by for a quick bite! growing up, this place has been an og spot for my family whenever we craved wontons and/or chow mein. we ordered the wonton noodles and soy sauce chow mein and let me tel you, what a great deal! the wontons were huge and simply delicious :) my bf is allergic to shrimp and when i asked them if they have shrimp in the wontons, they said it's generally with shrimp, but they happened to be wrapping fresh ones and offered to wrap non-shrimp one's for us, which we really appreciated! their soy sauce chow mein was simple but also very delicious. it's got that stir fry wok hei we were looking for. the portion was also a lot for just $6.50 they also only take cash so come prepared!

Located in a food court in a supermarket with other popular food stalls. You honestly have to try each stall but this tends to be the busiest one. Affordable Chinese food that will keep you full without making you go in debt. Recommend their wonton noodle soup and their crispy noodle with beef. It's #10 on their photo menu.

Located at the Food Court inside the Garvey Square Shopping Center. This little mom and pop restaurant, serving a variety of Chinese food, cook to order. You order the food at the counter. They will call your number when your order is ready. You can eat there at the food court or order to go. I ordered the Wonton Noodles Soup. The portion was pretty good for the price. It was delicious. Noodles was tasty and their Wonton is bigger than most places that serve Wonton Noodles Soup. The broth was light. They gave you the chilli oil to spice up the flavor. The ambiance is ok. Since this is in the food court area, seating can be tough to find during lunch time. Overall, the food is good. I suggest you get the food to go instead.

I've wanted to come here for a long time, but my wife wasn't interested. Conveniently located in the GW Supermarket food hall, they specialize in Cantonese-style dishes. You won't find a better deal in the area! It's a great value. I ordered the stewed brisket wonton lo mein, as a friend, Cindy S., had it before. I should have read her review more carefully; she said it was decent, and that's exactly how I felt. The dumplings were okay, but I found a hard piece of cartilage in one, which I had to spit out. I'm glad my son wasn't eating it, as it could be a choking hazard. The egg noodles were also okay, nothing special. The best part was the brisket smothered in gravy. Overall, it was a decent dish, but I wouldn't go there for it. If I do go back, I'll try their #1 bestseller, the wonton noodle soup.

Harlam kitchen is pretty decent for what it is. Located in a food court, we decided to give it a try. The menu is pretty simple with many variations of similar dishes. In terms of the food we got these. Chinese Donut Roll with Rice Sheet - I actually enjoyed this. It's simple but good. Pretty inexpensive too. (4.5/5) Wonton and Beef Stew Noodle Soup - It's not the best noodle soup I've had but its pretty decent. Comes in plastic bowl, not sure if it was going to melt or not since the soup was piping hot. Wontons were aight and beef stew was tasty. (3.5/5) Beef with Fried Noodles - I enjoyed this. Simple but the noodles were crispy and the gravy was tasty. (4/5) Overall solid food for a pretty good price. They are cash only so if you plan to come, make sure to bring cash.

This used to be my go-to for wonton noodle soup but it is under new management as of last year and it's not the same anymore unfortunately! This spot is located inside the food court of GW Supermarket so parking can be chaotic! It has a big parking lot but it's shared with many other businesses. Service was okay, not too friendly or welcoming Menu is very extensive and has a good variety of chow mein, lo mein, rice noodles, fried rice, and wonton noodle soup. Pricing is reasonable ($10-12+). Got the wonton noodle soup ($7.75) and was very disappointed. The wontons used to be huge and stuffed with pork, big pieces of shrimp, and super delicious. Not only have the wontons shrunk in size but there is hardly any shrimp and pork inside! It also doesn't taste as delicious as it used to. It tastes dry and flavorless now unfortunately. The noodles are very hard to chew and just not the same. Won't recommend or return

Located in the food court of the square market shopping plaza, this is definitely a bond fide low key and underrated Cantonese hole in the wall. I've been coming here since I was a kid and the quality of the food and the taste has never changed. Known for their delicious broth and traditional Cantonese dishes, you will not be disappointed. The go to dishes are the wonton noodle soup (with varieties of different types of meat), chicken curry, rice sheet noodle with Chinese donut, and their dry beef chow mien/ chow fun. Service is speedy and efficient. Ask for their chili sauces to compliment their delicious dishes. Plenty of parking but the plaza can get busy on the weekends. Lastly, cash only.

I haven't been to Harlam's Kitchen in many years, not since it used to have its own brick-and-mortar store. I thought Harlam's Kitchen was long gone but found out they relocated inside the GW Supermarket food court. Of course, I had to try them out again and reminisce about how good their 'jaleung' is. I ordered a Wonton Noodle Soup, Rice Noodle Rolls, Congee with Fish Fillet, and Chinese Donut with Rice Sheet Roll. My ultimate comfort food bundle! Everything tasted great, and I was surprised it all came out of that tiny food court kitchen. The only thing missing was more sauce on the rice noodle rolls, like sriracha, peanut sauce, and hoisin sauce. The food court is dingy and vacant, but don't let that fool you. The food here is solid and still retains the same recipes as years ago. I am excited to try their stir-fry dishes next time I visit again.

the wonton soup is good, but for me nothing special to it. the beef tripe is just ok for me.

Soy sauce chow mein, or "fried noodles chow mein"
Jasmine N.

It's been so many years since I've eaten here (back when there was an arcade next door). Back in the day their soy sauce chow mein was actually good, with a lot of wok hei, and supposedly they had changed owners a while back so it's not the same anymore but let's give it a try again. Definitely lighter in flavor, not as dark, not as enough wok hei as before but there were some noodle bits that charred a little more. They give a little container of chili oil but I honestly prefer it with sriracha. It's not the same as what I remember but it's still not bad, especially for the price of $6.50.

Did they close down due to covid? Every time we try to go, we stop by or give them a call, it just rings and goes to a full answering machine. A letter on their gate in front says they'll be closed until March or April but that was months ago.?

Stopped by 9/6/20 and they were closed. Asked a shop nearby and was told they've been closed since March.

There used to be another branch called Ho Kee Cart Noodle, but it has since closed. [Service]: Very efficient service and our waitress even (1) boxed up leftover food for us and (2) refilled the Hong Kong milk tea for free in a plastic cup. [Menu]: This spot is still best known for its roast duck, but other highlighted dishes include Wonton Noodles and Beef Chow Fun. *** G15 Beef Chow Fun w/ Soy Sauce ($14.99): The beef quality could be better, but the flavor definitely hit the spot. E2 Hong Kong Style Wonton Noodle ($12.99): Mediocre wontons, but amazing broth and good noodles. H2. Milk Tea (iced - $4.50): Legit and good Hong Kong milk tea. The cafe stop serving hot milk tea 30 minutes before closing. The milk tea had a strong signature black tea aroma and a creamy texture. It was one of the better Hong Kong milk teas I have had. *** While some of the ingredients were mediocre, all the dishes had flavor profiles that were absolutely on point. This is a really nice comfort food spot for anyone who's looking for a solid all-around Hong Kong style meal.

There are a few Canto cafés around here, but this one is definitely one of our favorites. Dim sum is pretty easy to find, but authentic Cantonese cafés are much more of a rare find. The lower reviews are probably due to the service, but in my opinion, a truly authentic Cantonese restaurant should have questionable service because that's exactly what you get at the good places in Hong Kong. The philosophy in Hong Kong is basically "food over service." If they're being too nice, they're probably overcompensating for something haha. Getting either the hot or iced milk tea or lemon tea is a MUST. It's the traditional way to do it, and they even offer unlimited refills! Just be warned that you might not sleep that night because Hong Kong-style tea is no joke when it comes to caffeine. Pro tip: If you get the lemon tea, you have to crush the lemons into the tea to get the right flavor! My friends and I are regulars here. They're open late, and the ambiance is so fun, with tables decorated with mahjong tiles and neon lights that basically scream Asia. The food is top tier and, in my opinion, some of the best Cantonese food you'll find in the U.S. Our go-to orders are the tomato baked rice dishes, stir-fried vegetables, 3-cup dishes, and brisket curries. For something sweet, we always share the classic Cantonese French toast with peanut butter inside or one of the pineapple buns. Definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for an authentic Canto café experience! :)

But as for the food itself, the standouts would be the fried shrimp and the lobster. The shrimp is perfectly fried and I enjoy how soft the shell is. I like the lobster alot too. I personally prefer the way it's prepared at Henry's, but Newport's is still pretty decent. For the most part, the food is overloaded with MSG. Each time I've gone or taken food to go, I feel massively dehydrated after that I get a headache if I don't drink enough water. Luckily the staff was pretty on top of refilling our waters, and they often switched out our plates for clean ones. We've been going for years, and they used to allow substitutions for the set menu. Let's start with the lobster. They have about 45 different ways you can have it prepared. We went with the traditional style without the noodles. We just couldn't justify paying another $20 for noodles, and honestly, I don't think we missed much. The lobster had plenty of flavor, but compared with other Vietnamese lobster restaurants I've tried, it wasn't nearly as flavorful as I expected. Considering we paid around $180-$200 for the lobster alone, that was a bit disappointing. We also ordered the Vietnamese-style fish with black pepper. The fish was good, but again, not as good as other Vietnamese restaurants we've been to. We wanted to try the pea shoots, but they told us they were seasonal, so we ordered the garlic string beans instead. They were good and nicely garlicky, but nothing that made me say, "Wow!" The standout for me was the French-style filet mignon. It was cooked almost medium-rare, with lots of onions, and the flavor was really good. That dish came closest to earning five stars for me, although the portion was smaller than I expected. Our total bill was around $380, so for that price, I was expecting something much more exceptional. Service was fine. They changed our plates and took care of the little details, and luckily it wasn't very busy when we went. I've seen pictures of lines out the door, so I honestly don't know if we caught it on an off night or what the hype is about. Was it bad? No. Was it good? Yes. Was it wonderful or better than the other Vietnamese lobster restaurants I've tried? Unfortunately, no. I'm glad we finally tried it because I had been curious for a long time, but would I come back? Most likely not. For all the hype and the price, I was expecting a lot more. I'm giving it 3 stars--good food, but not the amazing experience I was expecting from one of the top-rated lobster spots in the San Gabriel Valley. Parking is good.
