A few months ago there was a lot of water leaking from my old van. I took it to Blake to get a quote on fixing it. Blake was really great in helping me determine if I should repair my older van or just sell it. He advised me that instead of trying to fix the van and sell it at a higher, that I should just try to sell the van and let the new owner know about the problem. Harding Service - Gas Stations Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

I just moved from the Big Island to O'ahu and I was looking for a service station to do my safety check. I called ahead of time to see if Hardings had any openings today and they said to come on by after 10am. Once I got to Hardings, they had everybody lined up so that the other pumps were still usable by other customers. Everybody working there was extremely kind and gave a run down of what would happen. They were fast, professional, and all around very friendly. I saw that a few people who wrote up Yelp reviews were grumbling about the appointment times being between 10AM and 4PM. One of the workers explained that the original safety inspector was no longer working there and that they had temporary inspector for the time being since it is the first week of the month. I know that the times might be an inconvenience for some but really, they're doing the best they can. read more

on my way to work during the morning rush , i has a low tire pressure so I came here to put air. The guy demanded $1 just to use the air pump! This place is rip off. avoid this place. There is chevron down the street where they don't charge a fee to use their air pump. read more

Unbelievably rude. I'm third in line to get my safety check. It's 940am and checks start at 10. I'm ok to wait. The first person, elderly man gets done by 945 The second person, elderly woman, gets done by 955. When the 2nd person pulled up in line I got into my car and pulled it up so there wasn't a big gap. It's a small station in a congested area ... I thought I was being nice! The old guy freaked out telling me I was messing up his system and jamming them up. (I think he just wanted space between the vehicles... But I had still left a solid 8 feet for him to work) He proceeds to tell me to stop doing anything until he instructs me to do so. Speaking to me condescendingly as though I'm a teenager. The person in front of me finishes and leaves. I stay put. He comes to tell me they are not yet open for safety inspections and walks inside... It's 10:15... His daughter tells me he is in the bathroom and moves my car up. She takes my paperwork and tells me they don't need the prior safety inspection sheet. He comes back then asks me for the old safety sheet. Grrr He has me get in and out of the car several times for no apparent reason. Then, He gets in, turns on my car... A hybrid... Then gets out and tells me to get in and turn on my car. I tell him it's already on and he tells me "don't keep turning it off..." Really? I finally explain that it's an electric motor, which he looks baffled at. We go through the regular drill. Lights, blinkers, etc. The gas motor turns on partway through the inspection and he says... "Just leave your motor on, stop turning it off". Ugh. He finally tells me to move up. Then he asks me to turn my wheels as I'm moving up. It was weird because there was nothing in front of me and I couldn't see why he needed me to turn my wheels. I did it... When I get out to pay he tells me he needed to explain to me how to drive because I was going to hit the car parked to the side of me. It was 3 feet away. He handed me my receipt and walked away. No thank you, no nothing. I don't know what I did to aggravate this guy but in a SERVICE INDUSTRY... Hello... SERVICE STATION... I got the sense that anyone who looked under the age of 40 was treated like a child. By the way... The elderly man who came after me... Moved his car to within 2 feet of me and got no "spanking". I was incredibly insulted by this man. I will NEVER EVER EVER go here again. read more

DONT GO HERE!! Horrible experience trying to get our safety inspection done! This place is unprofessional, rude, and if your not from Hawaii they heckle you for every little thing even though the law clearly states otherwise. They make there own rules for passing safety inspections! They argue with there customers and are very nasty! The guy argued with me over a small sticker of the islands on my back window. After showing him proof strait from the dmv website this was ok he continued to argue then argued with me about my military sticker are you kidding me? TERRIBLE SERVICE at Harding Service Station. I will absolutely not do business there again. I stopped by to ask about a safety check for a boat trailer. They told me to call back the next morning to make an appointment. I called the next morning and the person told me that it was okay to bring my trailer in, so I rushed home to hook up my trailer and took it to the station. When I get there, they make to feel like I was imposing on them. I was told by George that I may have to wait an hour or maybe even two because he was busy and a safety check for my trailer was low priority. Why the heck did he tell me to bring it in if it was such low priority and he was so busy? TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I ended up taking the trailer back home with no safety check. I called another service station down the street (Mel's Chevron) and it was like night and day. Awesome Customer service. Mike, (I think he's the owner) told me to bring in my trailer. He said they normally do safety checks early in the morning, but that he knew what a hassle it was to get a safety check for a boat trailer, so to bring it down. Wow! Now that's what I call customer service. I will definitely be doing business there from now on. Perhaps I caught George at Harding Service Station on a bad day. Oh well, found a much better service station, so George can have all the bad days he wants. It certainly won't be at my expense. read more

The skid plate under my car was scrapping my tires (I think) every time I turned. My mom recommended me this place because she said they were really nice, but I was skeptical. I took my car in for an estimate, and they said around $20 and one hour. Really?! So I took I made an appointment to take it in the following week. My appointment was 10 am, but when I took it in, they said they had a bunch of cars before me that it would take more than an hour. Sad. I really didn't want to bring it back so I just left it there thinking it might take 2+ hours to fix. NOPE. Actually they called 30 minutes later telling me it was done! WoW! That was a fast turn around time. In addition, they fixed the skid plate and used some screws but they didn't charge me for the screws! They said, Ah... we had some lying around so we just used that. Thanks! Next time I have a problem with my car, I'm more than happy to come back to this place. Great service with a great attitude. Thank you! read more

I came in without an appointment just hoping to see if anyone could help me. I'm having problems with my radiator fan. They came out with all kinds of diagnostic equipment and told me it was an electrical problem and that they couldn't help me. I thanked them for the diagnosis and asked them how much. They told me no charge since they couldn't help me with my problem. I have come here before for safety inspections and light bulb replacements here and there and never had a problem. They are sticklers for detail. If you know that going in you should have no problem. I still don't know why that old man always puts my paperwork in a zip lock bag. read more

The guys here were efficient and professional as opposed to other stations in the area (kaimuki auto repair) where all their guys were walking around with untied shoelaces and dirty clothes doing nothing while everyone waits. Need a safety check done when you realize it's the 3rd and your inspection sticker expired on the 31st? I drive by this place on the way home almost every day and never thought about getting my car safety checked. I called ahead and they were direct about what time their inspector was heading home and said come by with no appointment and I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Pretty quick, in my opinion, yet thorough. They take debit or credit card and the waiting area is just outside of where you can watch them inspect your car. I found I had a slow leak in my tire and stopped by at Harding Service. Went into the office without an appointment and explained my situation. They directed me where to park since their service area was full. They found the nail, removed it and patched it. We bought a drink and chips from the office and before we could finish it, they were done with our tire repair. They showed me the nail in the tire and also after they removed it. The general repair charges are listed in bold in the office so no hidden charges for common repairs listed. In and out service. Friendly staff. They even had some mango bread and offered a slice to my son and I as we left. Nice neighborhood feel. I was expecting to wait at neighboring eateries but it was really fast and friendly service! read more

So on Saturday the 18th my Ford Flex decided to die. Right in the intersection of Harding Ave. and Kapahulu Ave. Sorry to all that had to go around me, anyway. My friend referred me to this place. Long story short, he checked my car and figured out that my mass air flow sensor was dirty, clean it out and car runs again. TERRIBLE! DO NOT GO HERE FOR A SAFETY CHECK!!!! I just bought a car in CA and shipped it over, I have a print out of my insurance and was told to go home and get the CA registration, and that the insurnace would be ok, after waiting for the VERY RUDE old man that does safety checks extremely slowly for an hour between both visits I was then told that my insurance needed to be "different". VERY VERY unhappy that I spent so much of my life at this time warp.. GO anywhere else. read more

These guys have saved me many times. (1) I had been driving on Waialae when they were doing the roadwork and turned makai on Koko Head. All of a sudden I hear this terrible sound coming from the right wheel and it is not responding well to braking. I limp it over to Harding's, they say it's probably a little rock in the brake drum. I leave it overnight, the next day it's fixed. I believe it was about $100. (2) Tire was low, drove there and they checked all the tires and filled them. $2, took 5 minutes. When I came out from work 8 hours later, it was low again. Went back, they found the tire valve was leaking and needed to be replaced. Charged $3, took 10 minutes. (3) Another tire was low. They said it was a tire valve and replaced for $3, took 5 minutes. (4) Pacific Honda told me I needed 4 new tires to pass safety check (in a few months' time). I took it to Hardings and just asked if they could eyeball it and tell me if I needed new tires. They said I did not need new tires. Later took it to them for the safety check and passed. I have taken in for safety checks twice and never had a problem or long wait. read more

I waited until the end of the month to get a safety check. Bad idea. There was a line when I arrived but it moved very quickly and three attendants worked together to get it done. Great service even with the crowd. I will return earlier in the month next time. read more

I have been trying to get a safety inspection for my boat trailer, and it turns out that not many places will do it. I called many service stations, and when I called this one, they told me that yes, they did boat trailer inspections, and to go ahead and bring the boat in. I took time off of work to hook up my boat and bring it into the station. When I pulled in and went to the service garage and let them know that I had called ahead, the man I spoke to said, no, we don't do boat trailer inspections. I said that I had just spoken to someone on the phone (and even double checked the number that I called) and they had told me that they did. He said, well, we don't, and you'd better move your boat before the police give you a ticket for parking on the sidewalk. I asked to speak to someone else and he just told me to move my boat again (which wasn't in anyone's way). Maybe he was having a bad day, but damn he was rude. I will never go here again, for gas or service. read more

Blake and Mith are awesome at this station. They are the nicest folks and tell you straight on what you need done. They even look at your problems without any charge. They find ways to save you money as best they can. They have helped me on many occasions and was able to save me lots of money. I love this place and have come here the last 5 times for safety check. I had been going to the Shell Station in Kahala and EVERY TIME I went there (went there 3 times prior to going to this Harding station), they told me the exact same thing ... mind you, it's a whole year between visits ... that I need new tires. Two of the three times, I had just had my Prius check-up right before this and they never mentioned I needed new tires. I proceeded to call Toyota to ask them because I was in shock. Toyota said that I was fine and my tread was way over the cut-off. Then they said "Don't you think if you were even close to needing new tires, we wouldn't have tried to sell you new tires?" Wow. So true! Shell was a fricken rip off. I immediately went to Harding station and was taken care of in less than 15 minutes. Super fast. Love the old guy too!! Now, I don't go anywhere else ... just here! read more
