A myriad of toppings are available along with truffle fries. Service was great but you can also order on line, at a kiosk or use the QR code located on every table. The Stallion is pretty basic inside. But the outdoor area is fantastic. Once warm weather hits I expect this to be a popular spot in Richmond. The huge fire table creates a welcoming space. We sampled the Peach Cider and the Dunkel, both excellent. The beer selection is huge. The burger is priced at the high end, but worth every penny. This is a great hangout spot and a welcome addition to Richmond.

Came out in torrential weather to do so. We both ordered the 1/4 pound burger with cheddar cheese. He had fries. I had the truffle fries. We ordered different toppings. We both wanted tomatoes, which they were out of. That's ok though. What was not ok was that the meat was flavorful, but almost nonexistent. The brioche bun weighed more than the burger. The cheese was also lacking presence. The truffle fries had no truffle, and left a lingering stench on my hands and a taste on my tongue that would not leave. The best thing I had was the water to try to wash the taste out of my mouth. I would recommend eating at Apollos instead (you have a choice) of having the pickle sandwich that I was unfortunately served. Really cool atmosphere and a good place to host an event, enjoy some brews, but leave the burgers alone.

The only thing that will catch your attention when driving by is the roadside banner mentioning "Open Fridays from 4pm-8pm" -rather poorly designed sign because for years I thought this place was open ONLY Fridays 4-8pm. Today was Friday and I had free time, so I thought I would stop in. When I approached the door, I could see that they are open daytime hours, as well. But without the banner, I never ever would have noticed this place. Anyhow, I ordered Tom's Spicy Burger and a side of onion rings. Delicious burger but neither spicy nor a "Better Burger" -especially for the price. See other reviews for burger description. Kroger's "Private Selection" frozen burger patties taste better and the package of six patties is about the same price as Tom's Spicy. Still, it wasn't bad but it was definitely more pricey than spicy. The onion rings were delicious. I would strongly recommend them as I do prefer battered rather than breaded. They were perfectly fried, great temperature, and they were the highlight of the meal. The fried pickles appetizer was a total waste of $8. Always had deep-fried battered pickle chips at other places. Here? They take a dill pickle spear and slice it long-ways before battering the thin strips and frying. I truly thought they accidentally brought me fried string beans or something. The ONLY detectable flavor was the batter and the ranch dip with the faintest, barely existent hint of dill. I might drop in another time but after a nearly $30 bill for the three items and a drink just for myself, there are other places with a better value. Jackson's comes to mind and they know how to make fried pickles much better!

We started with Fried Pickles and Ranch dressing. The pickle chips were fried well to a golden brown but a little heavy on the batter, leaving the bigger pieces a little soggy in the center. There was a nice cayenne heat kick on the end that was delightful, and they give you a large order. The ranch was out of a bottle but very good. I ordered The Bleu Burger, Mamut Homemade Fries and a side of White Cheddar Cheese Macaroni. Advertised with lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions and bleu cheese crumbles. The fries were cooked okay, they could have used a few minutes longer in the fryer, but they were seasoned well. The macaroni was overcooked and slightly mushy, but the cheddar cheese sauce was very flavorful. The bun was stale, not toasted and there was a lot of bread to bite through to get to the burger, but the veggies were fresh. The burger was ordered at medium and came out well done, but it was seasoned okay. The char marks on the burger from the grill added an unwanted acrid flavor. The onions were not caramelized but sautéed and large cut. Instead of coming with Bleu Cheese crumbles it was covered in dressing, making for a messy and an overpowering bite. If the onions were caramelized it would have helped cut through the salty dressing at least. My fiancé ordered the Marinaded Chicken, loaded Sweet Potato and a House Salad. The salad was fine and a nice size with fresh veggies. The sweet potato, cooked well and a good amount of brown sugar and butter was served with it. The chicken marinade and seasoning was really nice, flavorful, and it was juicy, in parts. The other parts had such a hard sear with grill marks and char it made for a burnt taste that overwhelmed the chicken. The chicken could have used a sauce as well. Mamut has a very large menu that offers burgers, tacos, pasta, steak, sandwiches, fajitas and wraps. They serve beer and they have a full bar. The server was very nice and attentive. The Fat Man says that El Mamut Restaurante Bar & Grill is NOT approved.

This nearly-nationwide Wisconsin-originated fast-food chain has a cult-following for their Wisconsin-originated ButterBurgers© (which are actually steaky-tasting burgers on buttered buns). And for a version of Wisconsin-famous squeaky-when-you-bite-them fried cheese-curds, not quite as sharp tasting (or quite as squeaky) as you would get in Wisconsin, but fun to bite! Well, we were in a mood, and went for their bragged-about shredded-chuck pot-roast sandwiches. I am sad to report that we were underwhelmed. The flavor was rather dull, despite the herb&spice cooking marinade, and the texture was not quite fall-apart-tender the way low-and-slow should come out. The cheese curds were ok. And of course we got the yummy flavor-of-the-day frozen custard: Turtle! (vanilla, caramel, chocolate, and toasted pecan). Aaaah :-p Well, the pot roast sandwiches were not thrilling. And we noticed that the Culver's drive-thru receipt is one of those that only lists the total price, not the price of each item. Why? If we were locals, we could have gone back to talk to them about this stuff. So, overall ok, but we can't 5-star this experience.
