Gourmet grilled cheeses and fancy coffee drinks. I got a buffalo chicken grilled cheese and it was tasty and filling. The meal came with chips as well. The space is cute, very speakeasy vibes. But I kinda don't get the why behind that beyond the pun name. There was live mid-day music while we were there. Which could have been nice, but it was SO LOUD that we couldn't really enjoy ourselves and left before we otherwise would have. I could be convinced to return, but might lean towards take out if there was another singer/guitarist set up and amplified.

I met a friend at Casa Amigos for lunch. Before going, I checked with a few friends who live in…read moreBerea and they said that it was their favorite Mexican restaurant in Berea. I arrived at 11:30 (they open at 11:00) and the restaurant was already busy. As with most Mexican restaurants, the lunch started off with complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were a little disappointing and stale. I was expecting fresh chips (since it was 30 minutes after opening), and I believe that they were left over from the previous evening. The salsa was very good and flavorful. I had the Pollo Casa Amigos ($12.99) from the lunch menu (grilled chicken and California vegetables on a bed of rice with cheese sauce). There was a very generous amount of chicken. The meal was very good. Full of flavor. Vegetables were cooked perfectly. I also ordered a side of fresh jalapeño peppers (fried). The fried fresh jalapeños were very good. As with all jalapeños, some are hot, some are not (which the restaurant has no control over). These were not as hot as I hoped, but again, this is not the fault of the restaurant, just an observation. Whenever I am in the Berea area and wanting Mexican food, I would definitely eat here again, but it's your typical Mexican restaurant. The only reason for the 4 star rating is due to the chips being stale. Other than that, definitely worth a stop!

Casual dining - some people were dressed up - I wasn't, but I didn't feel out of place. The Tenderloin meal was recommended, and I'm glad it was. Cooked perfectly. The portion was more than I needed, but I didn't leave hungry. The bill was a bit high, but the experience was great. I'm ok for paying a bit more for this quality. I will probably return when I'm in the area. I recommend this restaurant for an occasional great meal for a very special time. I've experienced many "high-end" restaurants- this one is in a league of its own. It is by far the very best in Kentucky.. There are other great restaurants with great food and nice atmospheres that I enjoy, but this one is special.

The vibe here is more than a little bit "the one place where Mom, Dad, and Grandma treat junior for…read moredinner when they come in for graduation" but while that does tend to suggest a very middle-of-the-road menu, it doesn't have to be damning. They do dutifully offer regional dishes like spoonbread, a hot brown, hoppin' john, and fried chicken, alongside other medium-voter preferences like steak, burgers, and the like. And my quiche was good, Michael's fried chicken sliders were good, and the sides were generally passable. (My home fries did taste like they'd been made well before they landed on my plate, but when there's a large menu and a small crowd, something has to give.) The hotel does make the meal feel a little special, and as of this writing, the hotel had decorated the restaurant with artisan works from Berea College Student Craft that make the whole place seem very cheerful. Prices are also about where they should be. If we're passing through again, this will certainly stay on our short list.
