Great service, delicious food, beautiful surroundings . What a peaceful dinning experience provided by the college students over seen by professional chefs. Most dishes are locally sourced . I've eaten here several times and always leave glad that I returned to see what was new on the menu.

Lots of history here and was excited to give this tavern a try. The building is just beautiful and I'm sure the hotel is really nice too. We were seated right away as they weren't super busy. However, service was very slow after that. We waited a very long time for our food and drinks. We had the pecan old fashioned which was really good, with a really nutty flavor. They also started us with spoon bread and butter. The bread was warm and moist. Very unique and delicious. Our dishes were chicken flakes in a birds nest and the filet with potatoes and asparagus. The chicken flakes had creamy potatoes and gravy and the green beans were crisp and everything was seasoned well. The filet was cooked properly with a nice gravy with crispy, delicious taters and fresh veggies. The meals were enough for leftovers and both dishes were great. The menu isn't huge, but there were enough options that we may come back again.

Drove down to Berea for the day. Walked into Boone Tavern and decided to have a light bite. The spoon bread was complimentary and came with orange butter. Deliciously light and airy. We were intrigued by the fried avocado. So melt in your mouth yummy with a spicy remoulade for dipping. We shared the ham and Gruyere sandwich which came with homemade chips. Amazing ham. I think it comes from the Berea College Farm. A lovely experience in this beautiful hotel. Don't miss a meal there. 51

The beautiful, newly renovated restaurant at the Historic Boone Tavern is now known as "Crafted". The color is eye catching and I love that the decor displayed is created by the college students. The hostess and servers are all very friendly. We enjoyed breakfast two mornings at Crafted. I highly recommend their Biscuits and Gravy (my all time favorite breakfast) and the Buckwheat Banana Pancakes with Carmel sauce. There were both so good! The only reason I didn't give a full five stars is because my boyfriend ordered a latte and we were told by our server that they weren't for sure if it was up and running but they would check. They never followed up on that. We also asked for some regular sugar and it was never brought to us. We ended up borrowing some from another table. The first morning we thought coffee might be complimentary since they bring it to the table and it wasn't on the bill. The next morning we were charged. Nothing that's a big deal. We think our server may have been new. They were very sweet though. We always enjoy our stay at the Historic Boone Tavern and eating at the restaurant.

Restaurant has updated their menu. Have a new chef and he appears to have great ideas. Never had a bad experience here. Definitely recommend if you're in the area. Great menu options! Always a nice ambiance and great service!

    Cheeseburger with fries. Really good.

Lovely dining room. Linen tablecloths. Sweet servers. Spoon bread was delicious. Servings were big. I left with half hamburger.

Bland food , expensive and disappointing. You are better off at waffle houses . Don't recommend.

Not sure how to start this review. Firstly, I am baffled by the name of the business, which leaves…read moreone to assume there is bread to be had. Not the case. You have to pre-order, and she only makes a round or a loaf. And that is what I did. I ordered a round, expecting something like a "boule", a round loaf of crunchy bread. I pick up an anticipated yummy round of bread to make sandwiches that same day. Instead, I get a flat, round kind of bread. I accept without anything being said. (But knowing in my head this is completely wrong, but maybe she misunderstood what I wanted) I go to my car and decide at the last second, to go back in, told her what I thought I was getting, telling her and having to explain to a "baker" what a "boule" is. So, I took the bread home, showed my husband and he was in awe as to what we paid for (7.25!). I opened it up, she had wrapped the bread in a PLASTIC WRAP!!!!? What kind of baker wraps a fresh loaf of bread in PLASTIC? You're supposed to put in PAPER! ANYHOW, the bread was as IF it had been baked a day or two before. Did not smell like a good bread, but like a loaf of bread you would get at Walmart. I call her and tell her what the problem is she says to bring it back and she will return my money. Thank you, that was kind. But when I DO return it, her excuse was... "I guess it didn't rise enough as bread has its own mind"!!!! First of all, if you thought the bread did not rise correctly, WHY did you sell it to me? Secondly, don't make dumb remarks like that. If you knew the bread was not what it should have been, call me and tell me that you have to remake the loaf, I would have liked that better than to get an awful loaf of bread. As for the croissants, they should be crispy on the outside and soft and airy and pillowy on the inside and taste of butter. These are like rolls!! With a bit of butter baked in. Subpar. I have been to several bakeries overseas, and have a friend who owned a bakery. This is NOTHING compared to a true bakery. Sorry, not sorry....

We all chose turkey. It was a very flaky buttery croissant-A+. Saw pictures of Humboldt county and assumed she was from there. No actually, San Francisco. Husband tried to make small talk and asked about whether she's ever made sourdough bread. She became very agitated at his question and snappy- her angry San Fran roots came out. Did not fit the friendly, cheerful vibe of Berea.

They sell products of the students' work, and I'm always struck by how underutilized Kentucky farm land seems to be relative to the food people actually eat here. The winter selection was modest, as one might expect, with greens, root vegetables, and mushrooms for sale, and a couple of hot lunch options and baked goods. Their chickpea dish was fine; nothing special but a decent lunch. Adding a cake pop was tasty; despite the semi-sweet chocolate flavor it was still definitely sweet. There was a lunch rush, and I imagine the locals fill the place up often.

All the meat sold in the store comes from the locally-grown cows and pigs. As a matter of fact, just about everything that is sold in the store comes from local farms that are worked by students from Berea College. Of course, there were various types of fruits and vegetables, grains sold in bulk, some dairy (cheese and ice cream) and soaps and cleaners. Different types of sandwiches are sold daily (Tuesday -Saturday) and the store was having a plant sale on the day that I visited. I really like the concept of students working and learning a skill as they attend school to get a degree. I cant say enough good things about this store. Its was very clean, the workers were friendly. Some prices were reasonable and some (soaps and cleaners) were maybe a bit high. But higher prices are expexlcted when supply is low. Certainly, I would support this store in the future.
