I had a sugar free caramel Bianca latte while Hubby enjoyed his Americano. The shop also has several omelets and breakfast burritos, a nice change from the pastries usually found in coffee shops. My Denver burrito in a whole wheat tortilla was delicious and filling and Hubby enjoyed a Western omelette with wheat toast. And although one orders at the counter, the food is brought to the table on real plates, not paper plates. There was the usual Saturday morning foot traffic getting coffees to go that one sees at a popular coffee shop, but it appeared some college students met there to study as well. We were pleased with our choice.

My mother got a breakfast croissant and I got the lunch special (pork tenderloin, roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes). My mother loved the sandwich except it came with too much bacon - if there is such a thing! The pork tenderloin special was perfect for me! It tasted like a homemade meal. I would order it again. I give this place only four stars because there was not a great selection in drinks (cream soda, root beer, al8, or water) and the coffee was terrible! The sweet lady at the register even made us a fresh pot but neither me nor my mother could drink it. I do recommend this place overall. I will go there again, especially because the desserts displayed at their counter looked AMAZING. I must try some of their cupcakes and their cinnamon bun! Casual dining - some people were dressed up - I wasn't, but I didn't feel out of place. The Tenderloin meal was recommended, and I'm glad it was. Cooked perfectly. The portion was more than I needed, but I didn't leave hungry. The bill was a bit high, but the experience was great. I'm ok for paying a bit more for this quality. I will probably return when I'm in the area. I recommend this restaurant for an occasional great meal for a very special time. I've experienced many "high-end" restaurants- this one is in a league of its own. It is by far the very best in Kentucky.. There are other great restaurants with great food and nice atmospheres that I enjoy, but this one is special.

The vibe here is more than a little bit "the one place where Mom, Dad, and Grandma treat junior for…read moredinner when they come in for graduation" but while that does tend to suggest a very middle-of-the-road menu, it doesn't have to be damning. They do dutifully offer regional dishes like spoonbread, a hot brown, hoppin' john, and fried chicken, alongside other medium-voter preferences like steak, burgers, and the like. And my quiche was good, Michael's fried chicken sliders were good, and the sides were generally passable. (My home fries did taste like they'd been made well before they landed on my plate, but when there's a large menu and a small crowd, something has to give.) The hotel does make the meal feel a little special, and as of this writing, the hotel had decorated the restaurant with artisan works from Berea College Student Craft that make the whole place seem very cheerful. Prices are also about where they should be. If we're passing through again, this will certainly stay on our short list.
