Came here to purchase an item with the 25% coupon. Immediately the cashier said that the item might not be eligible to use with the coupon. She then told me that it can't be used with the coupon. Then checked again and said it works. She then told me that I needed the Inside Track Club membership to get the discount. She also told the person I was with (without even checking the system) that her item would not be eligible for use with the coupon. I left without getting the item that I wanted to use the coupon with, because I thought that the fine print might have excluded it. Read the coupon again and nowhere did it say that it was excluded. Went back to the store for clarification and the lady made some excuse that the item was part of some Christmas sale and so it couldn't be used with the coupon. I checked online and my email and there were no other coupons for this item. I believe this lady just wanted me to get the ITC membership which is why she told me I couldn't use the coupon on the item. This is shady and I will never shop at this Harbor Freight again. I ended up having to drive all the way to Turlock to purchase my items with the 25% coupon. The associate in Turlock had no issues applying the coupon to my item. Went to this store 7-31-17 about 430pm. Seemed to be only 2 employees and about 5 customers. A Hispanic girl was helping customers find items in the store and directing others , in Spanish. Matt was manning the register. I found the store to be very clean, abundantly full and well organized. I knew what I wanted but I just had to check out other tools too. While I did, the store was over run with another 15 or so customers. I figured I best get out before that huge line. Matt held his own, sending 3 customers on with their goods before getting to me. This store went above and beyond for me - management was overly gracious to me as I needed to return something past the return window. I was willing to receive cost for the item, but the manager (I forget his name) gave me a full refund. Everyone has always been so nice to me at this store - much better than Lowe's nearby. It has a family hardware store vibe. There are also cool gadgets that are always tempting to buy at the checkouts - they have great deals for holidays and make sure to give your address so you can get the coupon flyers which have great deals. read more

I'm a DeWalt and Stanley tool man. HF has slowly transitioned me to the Pittsburgh brand tools. I'm not a mechanic, but I still like to work on my car when I can. I normally love this place.. Great deals n customer service.. But I got to say, today was awful and literally wanted to drop kick the mouthy rude cashier idiot ( Tyler) I was blown away how many customers he argued with not wanting warranties telling them that the power tools sold there are bad poor or cheap quality and your wasting your money if you don't get protection.. One man got upset telling him he didn't want it and that he's had that power tool for years and wants another because he liked it.. Tyler continued to have a smart mouth.. The guy left upset.. The next guy tyler was acting like he owned the store acting hyper n rude.. When people asked questions he'd awnser rudely like they were stupid and wouldn't help and would give them a rude snarky look . Another man left because the jackA**did the same thing about the warranty pitch n such and the man walked out without buying his stuff.. When we check out Tyler started arguing with us because I didn't want to give him my phone # and he treated that if we don't check in to the store weekly and input our # in the system, we will loose all coupons n adds.. Happy to finally have a Harbor Freight here in Merced. I got tired of going to Fresno or Modesto when I needed some quick and cheap tools or hardware items. I'm not enthralled with the store for some reason. One reason is that upon checking out, I tried to redeem my free item coupon. The gal at the register told me that I needed to bring the item up. This has never happened to me at a Harbor Freight. Usually they have big boxes under the counter or by the register that contain the free items. I also found her a little rude and condescending. I do enjoy the store and all it sales! Was in the Merced, CA location today and got some of the worst customer service at the register in my life! The young man named "Manual" was mad and very rude. The crew has always been kind and helpful as can be expected.The management on the other hand needs some serious people skills training! Omg I have just received quite possibly the worst customer service I've ever had, anywhere, period. The manager has just about the worst attitude I've ever come across, he neither listened to what I was saying ( I told him it wasn't a welding table, he took me to the welding tables. I told him the stand I was looking for was made out of metal, he then asked me was it made out of wood -__- ) nor as it appears, does he know his inventory. He tells me - the customer, to find the part number and come up front, so he can put it into the computer to tell him where in the store the item is located. I did as I was 'told' ( remember, I'm the customer ) only to find when I got to the front he wasn't there. So I waited while the only checkout in operation cleared, and explained to the person what his boss had told me to do, I must add at this point that even in a place like harbor freight, it is very unprofessional to be ferociously chewing gum with an open mouth.
