We stopped in on our way east to cut down our Christmas tree in the forest. We needed to buy a tree saw lol The staff were all super friendly and helpful. They pointed us straight to what we needed, and had smiles on their faces during checkout. They have separate men's and women's bathrooms. The ladies room was a single stall, clean, and had high end fixtures. The overall feel of the store was higher end than you would expect. THE MANAGER, STEVE, MUST GO! Where should I start... The employees! God bless them! Amazing people doing their best under the management of an imbecile. Unfortunately, this is the only hardware store for several miles so I'm forced to shop there. In the past Steve has been a rude prick to me and most of the people that I know but this one takes the cake... Last week (2/2020) a good friend who has an excellent reputation, is a local property owner several times over and is in the real estate profession was shopping at PML Hardware for wooden studs. He was told that they stopped carrying them by the front desk employee. Then, from the back, Steve showed my friend a pile of studs and told him they were free. Originally my only friend needed a few but took an additional 6 because they were of lesser quality than needed and THEY WERE FREE! On his return the next day he was accused of having stolen the extra pieces wood while the ones he was "allowed"to take were free. WTF? STEVE IS A MORON. I've seen evidence of it in the past but this takes the cake. Someone, ANYONE WHO KNOWS THE OWNERS! I haven't been into the store since last summer the service is not the same. You had two old guys that knew everything now you have a manager that can't answer any question about most everything. I walked around for about a half hour looking for help on plumbing and electrical projects I am doing I asked the manager about things he should know about. He just called for someone else to help me. Jeff is the associate that helped me he seems to know more than your manager. This store has went down hill fast the only reason I came to this store is because I have projects I'm doing in the area and the service was very knowledgeable now it sucks the fat guy needs to learn how to manager people. read more

Prices are expensive. Went in to purchase an ax and the price was $29.99. Took it to the counter and it rang up $32.99. When I told the guy he said "o.k." and changed it to $29.99, I had to question why that was so easy without checking me. Assuming this happens often and the customers don't catch it....beware at the register. November 2019, for the past few months the internet say's "sales help wanted" here on multiple sites. Outside sign say's "help wanted" so I went in to inquire. The main guy say's "we don't need any help, we need a truck driver". I pointed out the internet information and the sign outside sign. When he gave me an application for a "sales associate" I had to ask "why did you give me this when you need a truck driver"? He replied, "so you can be first in line". I'm pretty sure this place used to be called Down to Earth Builders Hardware. Anyways, they have everything. Pretty sure you could build a house out of this place. They're doing a lot of construction right now, which has the majority of the employees confused on where everything gets moved to, but they're always willing to help look. So, they're the only place that sells nails for 20 miles around. Does that mean they place an outrageous markup on them? Nope. They're only the typical mom'n'pop margin above the big box stores. Concierge service with usually a smile. Walk in they are ready to help you, or guide you if you don't like help. Bought a ladder which I had to try out...no problem. Bought two toilets out of the four in stock. They were perhaps a little higher, but I didn't have to drive across the county. They have helped me with garbage cans, wall socket covers, reflectors on a stick, wood, plastic light covers, rake, garage door opener, door closer, wax rings, spackling, and more. Always ready to load this stuff in my car. And ladies, you are not ignored nor treated as a moron. Friendly, helpful, and convenient...how can you lose? read more

I just came up to my family's lake house and needed a couple things, propane mainly. The staff was great and the store is packed with goodies, I felt like a kid at a candy shop. Out side the have building materials, ready mix concrete and aggregates. I do believe it's one of the best stocked little hardware stores I have seen in a long time. Unlike home Depot there is no overkill and the products are of good quality. Someone knows exactly how to keep the community happy and well supplied. It sounds like Joel has anger issues I have been in the store many times and I am a local contractor The pricing isn't bad 7% discount for being a contractor isn't bad either. Some places give 2% . The material are fine I've never gotten anything with mold maybe black forklift marks. I will be a customer as long as they are open. read more

The man who owns/or manages or just works there at PML Hardware store in groveland is my complaint. 12/22/21 i went in for a bag of salt deicer, the tall cowboy was running the cash register was so was RUDE. Told me that salt was out in their warehouse outside. I asked him is it heavy he told me if you get a 20lb bag it will weigh 20lbs. Im 60 years old and have a heart condition. I go out, should have just left, but i need the salt so i go out to get it, the smaller bag which i assumed was 10lbs was on the top shelf, i had climb up the ladder to get it and Stretch to take it off the top shelf. I have dizzy spells and fall alot, and i dont do ladders anymore. The rungs where slippery. That man should thank the stars i didnt fall. I brought it in, the kid who was working there said he was sorry he would have got it for me. The moral of the story is i will never go to that store again. Out of spite I will drive to sonora before ever going back there. I was told he was the manager, I understand why that man in the cowboy hat cant keep employees. i know people that worked there and quit because of the manager. They said the same thing, that man is a dick to work for and they quit because of him. Ill never go back there again. Oh and you dont have to treat employees bad to get someone to do the job. Hes a bad business man. If i had fallen i would have sued Ace Hardware, and him. I was going to unload on him but he was not at the cash register. Im Never going there again, ever, and im posting this on social media and yelp about him. My husband was pissed! If he is not the manager he should be fired! Since the new owners remodeled this store they've had everything I've needed in a pinch. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Without this store we'd have to go to Sonora for our hardware needs which is a pain. Glad the owners have committed to our little piece of heaven. read more
