I oriented myself to doors from YouTube as much as I could--a subject I knew nothing about--and thought through the design style I was looking for. When I went in for my appointment with Dave, sending the blueprints ahead of me, he was able to quickly walk me through the process of selecting my doors. For example, he knew from the blueprint that an exposed front door like mine really had to be fiberglass to hold up to the blazing heat and winter storms. The shaker style interior doors (MDF) were a no-brainer for me, but to choose the front door I had to take catalogues home. There was one stop back to finalize things months later before the order went in, and Dave pointed out that we had changed the front size, which would make the handle disproportionate. Changed it. I wasn't there for the installation process, the contractor coordinated it. It is Thanksgiving day, and I just wanted to thank Dave and his crew. All the doors make me happier than I could have imagined as a new home owner.

I provided this report to the owner who was working at the counter at the time, and he assured me that he could absolutely read the report and had a unit that would fit those specific requirements. He was extremely confident and sold me the mini-split unit. Fast forward to after installing the unit and having the required HERS report done, I was informed by the professionals that this unit did not in fact meet the Title 24 requirements that were provided to Standard Appliances. I spoke with the owner afterwards to let him know this, with the sole purpose of letting him know they may want to pay a bit more attention to the details of the Title 24 report provided to them for the next customer (or victim). The owner proceeded to yell at me and complain that he did nothing wrong, because he is not an engineer. I never asked him to analyze anything as an engineer, I simply asked to buy a unit that was up to the specific requirements for which he had replied confidently he knows exactly how to read these reports. If you prefer to not get yelled at and treated extremely poorly, take your business elsewhere. The owner will yell at you for 5 minutes straight while not listening to any word of reason from you. There are plenty of appliance stores that sell identical products to that of Standard Appliance, and you will be very happy you were not verbally abused.
