Not sure why there aren't a thousand 5 star reviews for this location. Everybody knows that locally…read morethere aren't many options, but this Ace is especially wonderful. I've been going here for about 4 years since moving back to the area and have had more great experiences than I can count. Staff ALWAYS greets me as I enter the store and they never ignore me when shopping. Employees know the store like the back of their hand and don't hesitate to help with propane outside or with loading up bags of soil. Very knowledgable people overall. Selection is mind blowing and I've come here for everything ranging from nuts/bolts to mower blades and Christmas decorations. The ONLY negative is that I've noticed an influx of younger guys working there who aren't as knowledgable or professional. They normally walk around giggling with other employees and have no clue what the store has available. Take the good with the bad..

I've been dealing with this store for about twenty years and my experiences with them have never…read morebeen less than excellent. Their staff are not only friendly and efficient but also extremely well-informed about their merchandise and willing to give advice; this is important to me because I have the mechanical aptitude of a mildly retarded gerbil. I've gotten the same attention whether I was buying two screws or a new Weber grill, and no one has ever tried to upsell me. My most recent experience was buying, yes, a new Weber grill from Jim Carmalt. He was exceptionally knowledgeable about every aspect of their stock and how best to use it. It was almost like talking to an old friend who had my best interest as a high priority. I thin of Village Hardware as sort of the anti-Home Depot/Loew's, I get personal service of a high order and always leave confident that I have a high-quality product and even higher quality advice. This is retail as it should be.

Over the Labor Day Weekend the store advertised a 10% discount for those that have served,…read more(Veterans) I went into the store looking for a gas powered blower and found one that I was interested in, even though they did sell Sthil products. The 10% discount was the selling factor. I bought the blower but didn't pay attention to the discount at check out. I returned later to point out the error, but was told that it was not included on sale items. The blower was not on sale as verified by the manager. The register had a false sale attached to the item. when the "sale" was removed from the register and the retail price was wrung up, it would allow the 10% discount. However, I was then told that Echo products were not included or qualified for the 10% discount. I couldn't return the item because of the stores policy of no returns or refunds for gas powered equipment. I specifically requested the 10% discount at check out and showed my military ID. Nothing was ever said that Echo products didn't qualify for the discount. I guess I learned my lesson and won't shop at this store in the future.
