    D7. Sweet and Sour Chicken
    Ward R.

I've ordered this through DoorDash twice and this last time will be my last time. The first time they forgot my sweet-and-sour sauce for the sweet-and-sour chicken; They gave me the wrong fried rice and forgot the wonton strips for my soup. This time half of the chicken was in edible because it was so overcooked and the chicken was burnt inside and chewy 75% of the wonton strips were burnt. The only thing that was really edible was the fried rice.

Chicken with some fantastic marinated cabbage.

This non-descript restaurant doesn't look fancy - it's set up with 8 tables, cheap seats, and old furnishings, but what it lacks in ambiance it totally makes up for in FLAVOR! Our friend from China is attending Virginia Tech, and she was excited to share this place because of its authenticity. We discovered that the printed English menu is different from the Chinese menu hand-written on the white boards. Our friend even ordered a traditional Chinese cabbage and pork dish that wasn't on the menu, but the owner/cook was happy to make it for us. You could tell that this place was a "home away from home" for the many Chinese students that attend VT. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great place!

Lowkey a great Chinese restaurant in terms of Blacksburg area. Workers are kind and it's at an optimal location in downtown right next to campus. One of my international Chinese friends took me to this restaurant and showed me the special Chinese menu on the side and let me tell you, it's great. My goto order is usually salt black pepper pork or chicken (small) usually good enough to serve myself and it's quite a large portion for one person. Definitely filling. I also really enjoy the general tso's over rice (small). I don't normally eat general tso but it's one of the best I've had just due to the huge pieces of chicken.

Mouse droppings and dead moth in the food! I take it back to the carry out and they say it's just black pepper? WTF..mind blowing!

One of the worst takeout establishments ever!!! This place poses a health hazard to all. I ordered the kung pao chicken and beef and broccoli. To my surprise, I find mouse droppings and a dead moth in the food. I called and informed them of my findings. With no apologies, the female employee just yelled "No refund." and hung up. I went back to the establishment to show them the mouse droppings and the dead bug. The crazy lady then snatched the food out of my hand and starts yelling at me in broken English ranting "You poo poo!" Then the psycho employee starts cursing me out in Chinese. I asked for the manager's telephone number and she says she doesn't know it and continues to yell at me in Chinese. If you value your health, DO NOT EAT HERE...EVER!! I will be reporting this landfill to the health department!

We stopped in Blacksburg for an overnight stay and I was desperate for something to eat that wasn't from a bag at that point of the evening. If you know me, you know I'm always in the mood for Chinese food and if it's Sichuan, I'm at absurd levels of contentment. Spicity is a swell little spot in a strip mall and has plenty of seating. With it being right after New Years and at the end of winter break, it was very quiet and blissfully empty (I'd had enough of holiday crowds), as was literally every other restaurant we passed in town. It's spacious, has plenty of seating and has a pleasant atmosphere, if a little bright for my liking. Not that I cared because dry pot is on the menu! I started with a tofu ribbon app that is absolutely delicious (not spicy to me, but I think it had a little chili oil). And the cabbage hot pot, which I ordered extra spicy and they delivered! The bits of tofu skin made it even better. While I wasn't a huge fan of it being overwhelmed by bell peppers, I feel like it's one of those things I'd be able to adjust if I came back (perhaps next year?) They get major bonus points for being open late, too. Looks like delivery is until 9 but the restaurant is open til 11 on Fri/Sat, 10 on Sundays and 10:30 all other nights. Driving through so many small college towns, I'm seeing so many places that are only open until 8:30 or 9.

I'm a second generation Chinese-American and my Chinese isn't quite at the level of native speakers. I still always try to speak Chinese whenever I'm at a Chinese restaurant. However, I felt ridiculed by the lady running the cash register - who went out of her way to mention how poor my Chinese is. I brushed that off and still ordered my food. My friend and I ate-in, and there weren't any other people at the restaurant. The food was average. I found the dumplings to be very ordinary and quite small. I wish that I had better words to say, but I overall didn't have a good time here and won't be back.

Then we started finding foreign objects in the food. We kept a piece of wire once to show them, and another time found, and kept, a piece of plastic. Showed the owner those things both times and owner was just kind of 'oh well' attitude. Offered us a free egg roll but we declined both times as their once great egg rolls had gone down hill over the years: greasy and half the size. Then owners got short tempered and non-smiling where once had been happy people. Food kept getting from bad to worse so we stopped going there. Miss chinese food but finding foreign objects in one's food is unacceptable. They weren't regretful at all and even seemed to think we were not telling the truth! So take your chances in going to Double Dragon if you must. We do not recommend.
