We live in Town and used to go to Double Dragon on a regular basis for takeout. Years ago, they were friendly and nice with good food. Then we started finding foreign objects in the food. We kept a piece of wire once to show them, and another time found, and kept, a piece of plastic. Showed the owner those things both times and owner was just kind of 'oh well' attitude. Offered us a free egg roll but we declined both times as their once great egg rolls had gone down hill over the years: greasy and half the size. Then owners got short tempered and non-smiling where once had been happy people. Food kept getting from bad to worse so we stopped going there. Miss chinese food but finding foreign objects in one's food is unacceptable. They weren't regretful at all and even seemed to think we were not telling the truth! So take your chances in going to Double Dragon if you must. We do not recommend. read more

Double Dragon isn't your average sit-down restaurant. They don't have servers, so you just order at the counter and they'll bring the food to you. I'm a second generation Chinese-American and my Chinese isn't quite at the level of native speakers. I still always try to speak Chinese whenever I'm at a Chinese restaurant. However, I felt ridiculed by the lady running the cash register - who went out of her way to mention how poor my Chinese is. I brushed that off and still ordered my food. My friend and I ate-in, and there weren't any other people at the restaurant. The food was average. I found the dumplings to be very ordinary and quite small. I wish that I had better words to say, but I overall didn't have a good time here and won't be back. read more

Double Dragon is perfect for Chinese takeout in the New River Valley. We had the Double Sautéed Pork, Curry Beef, Shrimp and Veggies, and Veggie Fried Rice. All the dishes were freshly prepared and delicious. We would order out from them again! read more

The place needs a thorough cleaning, and the food was not good at all. My fried rice was orange and had bits of dried up, flavorless pork in it. The chicken was rubbery and tasted funny, and my dish was drowned in a sickeningly sweet sauce. As I went to use the restroom in the back I noticed a pile of books and board games piled up in the corner, and someone's used and dirty flip flops tossed next to the pile. I saw bits of food and dirty napkins on the floor in several places, and everything just felt "unclean". I can't recommend this place at all. read more

So... Being from the San Gabriel Valley in CA (where you'll find some of the best Chinese restaurants outside of China) I tend to agree with the previous reviewer, but everything is relative. For one, food in Blacksburg just generally sucks. There really isn't a "good" restaurant in town (and by good, I'm coming from a pretentious California food-snob perspective) and that includes Blacksburg's sad attempts at any kind of ethnic cuisine. Chinese food here just isn't great. It's pretty much all Americanized (unless you're able to read the Chinese menu at Charlie's Chinese in Christiansburg) and even for Americanized Chinese, it's not very good. So what's good about Double Dragon that I'm willing to give it three stars? Well, it's fast, edible, and fresh-tasting. For the most part, the food isn't terribly bland like most of the food (Asian or otherwise) in the area, and has flavors somewhat approximating Chinese food. What I like: -Dumplings in hot chili oil- pretty decent, actually good for the area -Beef in scallion sauce- it's got flavor and stuff, so I like it. -Orange chicken- tastes like your typical orange chicken, which is a good thing for Blacksburg. What's okay: -fried dumplings- get them from Chinese Kitchen, they're much better there. -Broccoli in garlic sauce- the garlic sauce is bland, but at least the broccoli tends to be crisp -Lo Mein- this is something you don't find so much on the West Coast, but it's kinda like a mushier chow mein. You can probably get it better at other restaurants in the area. So... Yeah, do I recommend it? Sure. If you want Chinese-American food, and you're stuck in Blacksburg, this place is totally fine. It's good, even. But if you can hop on the next jet outta Blacksburg and go to a real city with real food, you should do that instead. read more

I went here once. Let me just say plainly that there is no good Chinese food in Blacksburg. This is styled after any of those Americanized Chinese places with the pictures of all the entrees on the walls and the long list of a menu they had. I went after the general tso's chicken, something that is usually done consistently and is a staple of that kind of food. The chicken was formed into spheres, yes- perfect spheres that had been frozen and deep fried. It wasn't even all white meat, and it just did not have the right textures. The sauce wasn't spicy enough to qualify as General Tso's either, that's the whole point, otherwise it's just sesame chicken without the sesame seeds. Regardless, the fact that my chicken didn't look like real food really got to me. Maybe they have other better things on the menu, you're probably better off just asking them to make something that they normally make for themselves. I just couldn't bring myself to go again, maybe I will just settle for a cheap lunch buffet when I have a craving instead. I just wish with the large Asian population in Blacksburg that there would be at least one decent place, but it's nothing compared to D.C. read more

We ordered takeout from this place for a holiday dinner, paid almost $70, and it was basically inedible. The sweet-and-sour pork was nothing more than bits of pork surrounded by a heavy and tasteless breading, ditto the chicken fingers. The dumplings came encased in a thick dough. The General Tso's Chicken tasted as if it'd been refried and then doused with sauce, so tough it was hard to chew. I could go on and on about the Beef with Scallions and the fried tofu, but I won't. I suggest that you order pizza and forget Chinese food. read more

Cheap food that's good for Chinese takeout in the area. Wouldn't recommend for a sit-down meal because the service can be slow when they get to go orders. There's a minimum credit card charge of $6. It's easy to get to and not too much trouble finding parking. read more

This place is an underrated gem. The dumplings are fantastic, general tso's always tasty with a nice side helping of crisp broccoli, and I love the bean curd with veggies. Best Chinese in town. It isn't a great place to have to sit, but the quality of the food is quite good and an excellent value. Sometimes the seasoning is a little mild, and there isn't a lot of variety. Still, Double Dragon consistently delivers the best "go to" lunch and a very reasonable take-out dinner. I give this restaurant 0 Stars! On the day I ate there, my wife and I were very displeased with the food and with management. The food did not taste fresh. The dishes were prepared with no concern of quality, just collect the money and get the food out of the kitchen. We left after about 5 minutes and ate at another restaurant. We returned after our delicious meal just to tell the manager how we felt about the horrible food they served us. We were professional, courteous and asked for a refund or at least a refund on the profit they made. They offered 1 soda. Enough said! Perhaps their handwritten "no refunds" policy taped on the cash register says it all. By the way, you have to pay in advance before you are served. I recommend you avoid if possible. P.S. When I first moved back two years ago I tried the General Tso and the chicken wasn't very good. I decided to try them again today but ordered the Golden Sesame Chicken. It was terrible. The chicken while initially appearing to be whole chicken pieces turned out to be small chicken pieces with a lot of breading that I had to pick apart. I ordered the white rice which was mushy and not very flavorful. I won't try it again. I will say that my mom says that they have the best egg drop soup - I can't confirm. read more

My experience at double dragon was fantastic. My girlfriend, roommate, and I all ordered a meal and a side and only paid $27. A bonus is that they give you a discount for paying in cash. They have excellent tofu for those of you that don't eat meat. read more

The food is made from scratch, egg rolls, dumplings, etc. They use fresh vegetables and everything is made to order. I've had "authentic" Chinese food in San Francisco and China and yes this is Americanized but what do you expect in Southwest Virginia. You cater to the market. I've literally tried every Chinese restaurant in the area after living here for 20 years and always come back to Double Dragon takeout! To the review posted that said they don't use all white meat in their General Tso chicken, that shows me you lack of culinary knowledge. This is the worst Chinese experience I ever had. I ordered the lunch special. They don't take debit cards unless it's over $6. Lunch special is just under that. Makes you have to buy a drink if you don't have cash on you. Once you buy that food you can't have more than 2 packs of any sauce. I asked for Mustard sauce, and I had to trade in my soy sauce to get it. Are you kidding me? Never again will I go there. read more
