It's Phở Time! Vietnamese Cuisine's Menu
    Mark D.

I feel as though I do not take nearly enough advantage of It's Phở Time! being so close to my home. This Vietnamese restaurant is the best in Roanoke, VA in my opinion. While dining, you can see the staff hard at work with their open kitchen. Seating can be limited, yet comfortable, and you can order their food to go if it is too busy to wait for a table. I love how you order your food in a similar fashion to a lot of hotpot restaurants where the menu is a slip of paper that you check off what you would like. My favorite thing to order here is the Sliced Eye Round Steak Phở served with a side of basil, bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapeños, and lime. Add some Tương Ớt Siêu Cay Super Hot Chili Sauce and you are talking about a bowl of pure magic for consumption. All of the vegetables added are like throwing in a delicious garden of fresh flavors. The thinly-sliced eye round steak is tender and soaks up the Phở flavors nicely. It's Phở Time! is a real treasure of a Vietnamese culinary experience in the Roanoke area. I can't wait to dine here again.

This family-owned restaurant makes every dish with old-country-style love. They have an interesting and simple method of ordering your food from a small, but well-developed menu that allows you to easily customize your dish. I've had the Pho, the Bun Mei, and the Bun Thit Nuong. (I always get an order of Spring rolls when I go too). The Pho and the Vietnamese Sandwiches stand up to any other I've had in my travels, and as a Pho lover, I've had a lot. The restaurant is small and quaint, and makes for a perfect lunch stop. If you are already a Pho fan, or if you are thinking of trying it, Its Pho Time is a great place to go.

I have been searching for some good international food since I moved here and I found it. This whole little corner has a couple different areas of the world that I can't wait to try out. Spring rolls were fresh, dipping sauces made in house and fantastic, pho broth was well developed and there was a lot of it. Price is great for what you get. Service is fine for a sit down place. You get a sheet where you check off what you want to order and put your name on it to ensure any mistakes are your own. Make sure you ask if you have questions, although they seem perfectly willing to fix mistakes that happen. Ambiance is quaint, family oriented with a small space with a select few tables. Mostly up to 4 but can be pushed together for larger parties. Make sure you call ahead if you have 5+ people eating or get there early. For as hidden as this place is they had a constant stream of customers both eat in and take out. Loved the fact that it was family owned. Three generations working in the restaurant.

It's in a multi business strip mall. This place is on the right side on the right corner near the hair salon. It's the plaza immediately after Cuban island. Parking is pretty full so I recommend coming on an off time. Friendly staff but they weren't very helpful with explaining things. Apparently you take a form and fill it out and take it to the register to order. For that reason, I don't think it's exactly table side service. And then you go back after eating to pay... would make more sense to pay when you order and pay again if there's anything additional. Doesn't make it convenient for disabled persons. The handicapped seating is in the back and the seats are pushed very close to the table on the opposite end so anyone sitting with a disabled patron will need to keep that in mind. The chairs don't adjust and it's a very tight fit for any normal sized adult to squeeze into and out of. Decent portion size. I didn't particularly care for the meat but it was much better than Viet Sub location in Roanoke on the opposite end of Williamson. The noodles were Al dente and the broth was on the oily side. The broth was also warm and not hot. There are only 2 choices of condiments. No water, only bottled water for purchase. Everything comes in a recycle container. I got the beef broth with several cuts of beef. Small portion of the veggies and herbs. I would come back but I do think there's room for improvement. I think it would be helpful to put a sign to let people know what they're supposed to do when they walk in instead of them standing at the doorway waiting to be seated or walking to the counter and grabbing the menu( why bother if you have to use the form?) before sitting down. I give the place a 3.9 and rounded it up to a 4. Food is a 3.75/5, service is a 3.5/5.

I am so excited to have another Pho restaurant in the area! It's Pho Time has only been open for a week at this point, so this review will be my first impressions of the brand new restaurant. I'm sure there will be changes made in the future, as they continue to adapt to their customer base and needs. I really love that it's a "seat yourself" situation. We initially chose a booth, but ended up having to move as one of the seats was wet. We ended up sitting at a small table for 2 which I felt was a little small considering the large Pho bowls and sides. I'd like to see that table paired with another so it's not so awkward. We were brought some menus and order sheets for the pho. I really liked being able to check off everything that I wanted in my pho. The waitress wrote the rest of our order on the tops of our order sheets. I feel like it may be more efficient to include the rest of the menu items on the sheet. Additionally, it may be useful to add some instructions or something to communicate when you *don't* want a specific topping on your pho. For example, I selected spring onions and sliced onions for my toppings. I do not like cilantro.... I ended up having to pick cilantro out of my bowl. I think it'd be best if you could emphasize that you do not want a particular topping or garnishment to help the kitchen out a bit. We ordered shrimp spring rolls & 2 bowls of vegetarian pho. We did end up having to wait a while for our food, but it wasn't too bad and I'm sure the kitchen is still finding their rhythm. The spring rolls were excellent and wrapped well. The peanut sauce was also great! Sometimes peanut sauce tastes like straight peanut butter, which is not optimal. This peanut sauce was definitely nutty, but not overpowering and was one of the better sauces I've had at a restaurant. The pho was pretty good too. The broth was basic, but solidly flavorful (we did get the veggie broth, so nothing fancy). I did think that the veggies were a little sparse. Their facebook page stated that the vegetarian pho would include corn, carrots, broccolis, and chinese bok choy - so I was pretty excited. The bowls we received had mini corn on the cob (which I wasn't expecting, but was still good) and broccoli. I feel pretty confident that they'd just run out of the carrots and bok choy, but I would've liked to have been made aware of that when we ordered. Just a simple "hey, just letting you know we're out of carrots & bok choy" would've gone a long way. It's also possibly that they just forgot it, but it's not that big of a deal either way. In the future, I'd really like to see more veggies in the veggie pho. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. It's clear that they take pride in their work and recipes. Overall my experience at It's Pho Time was great and I look forward to coming back!

This place does their menu a little differently than others. They have an a-la-cart style where you can pick the broth, the amount of noodles, which meats and toppings you want. They do large and small bows, we had the small bowls and they were a good size. They also have a loyalty program. We also had the shrimp spring rolls and they were very good as well.

I had beef pho, my wife had chicken pho, and we had an order of spring rolls. Everything was excellent. Ordering was a little weird, but the waitress was super helpful and it didn't detract from our experience.

Love the food, deep rich broth, great little place. Thai tea is a little expensive so I might not get it here, plenty of other places around town you can get that cheaper. But the pho is a good price and great quality and so are the spring rolls.

I have truly enjoyed dining in each and every one of them. But Bread Craft, located in the Star City of Roanoke, is in a class of its own. After being ranked 4th among Yelp's Top 50 Most Prolific Elites of 2025, a distinction recognizing my consistent community engagement and high-quality contributions, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants, businesses, and establishments, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to go back and write follow-up reviews on those places that impressed me the most during 2025, and Bread Craft Bakery, located in Downtown Roanoke, is the perfect example of one of them. Bread Craft is a premier, artisan European-style bakery established in 2006 by owner Alex Eliades, who besides having a passion for baking, has over 25 years of baking experience, and leads the bakery focusing on traditional slow-fermentation techniques. The bakery is known for its high-quality, scratch-made sourdough, pastries, and Croissants. It evolved from a wholesale operation into a popular 6,000 square foot café on Church Avenue, also supplying local restaurants. The bakery specializes in Franch and German-style baking, utilizing sourdough as a natural leavener. It servers breakfast and lunch items, including sandwiches, salads, and some creative breakfast egg entrées. They are open Wednesdays through Sundays from 8:00AM - 2:00PM and are well known for running out of items before the end of the day. For this review I visited the Bakery / Café for breakfast on two consecutive Wednesdays. The first Wednesday I arrived too late to be able to have their Chorizo & Eggs Cocotte from their Breakfast menu. Breakfast is only served until noon, and I found out about this on that day. So instead I had a Cheese Danish and a house-made Mocha Coffee. Both items were delicious. On the second Wednesday I arrived much earlier for breakfast. Luckily, right before a whole rush of customers arriving to place Take-out orders. As soon as I walked inside I immediately felt comfortable with its clean and contemporary architectural design and decor, and an exposed red brick wall that gave it a warm ambiance. One can see that the owner spent a substantial amount in renovating the place when they moved here, and that they took good care of it, because it looked as if it had just opened for the very first time yesterday. While I was looking over all the baked items they had, I received a friendly greeting and warm welcome from a lady behind the counter who seemed to be the manager and took my order. To start I ordered a Chorizo Quiche which happened to be the Quiche of the day, and a house-made Mocha Coffee. Then since I was planning to turn this into a Brunch, for my main entrée I ordered their Chorizo Cocotte from the Breakfast menu. And for dessert I had a Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant that was simply irresistible. Everything tasted amazingly delicious, especially since I love Chorizo. The Quiche had an amazing crust with the eggs inside cooked with the perfect amount of chorizo. The Chorizo Cocotte was served in an elongated bowl with two poached eggs over Spanish sausage, accompanied by three slices of freshly made Baguette. And if all this wasn't enough, the Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant was the perfect ending dessert to this fabulous put together Brunch. Oh and the coffee was the best of the best. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the quality of their food. What an outstanding dining experience I just had at Bread Craft. Wonderful ambiance, amazing food, and extraordinary customer service. I highly recommend this Bakery/Café whenever you're in the area. And Bernard's Gastropub & Eatery in Downtown Roanoke, is a perfect example. Bernard's was born out of the love of two culinary aficionados turned professionals that in someway have managed to create a restaurant with an environment that transmits this intimate love to the hearts of their customers through the attention to detail in its extraordinary customer service and amazing culinary masterpieces. Today, I felt like dining at this restaurant, which I admire for its consistency in always far exceeding my high expectations of what a fine-dining restaurant should be all about. Not knowing if they would have a table for me at this late time on a Saturday early evening, I drove in my pearl white Lexus to the nearest private parking lot and gave them a call to inquire as if they could give me a reservation for the next ten minutes. A gentleman, who later I found out was named Matthew, and would be my server, answered the phone with a very polite and welcoming voice; answering my question of what was the special dish of the day and to come on down, that my reservation was assured. As soon as I arrived to the small, very elegant foyer in front of the Host's station, he came out to greet me and instantly recognized who I was. My only request was that he give me a low table because at my age seating at a high table was a bit uncomfortable. He went back to see what he could find and ended setting me up with what I consider one of the best tables of the house, and I was so appreciative of his last minute accommodation. The menu was already setup on my table. He poured water from a special bottle into my water glass and asked if I wanted something else to drink. I asked for a Mocktail and since he also was a bartender, he prepared me one of the best mocktails I've ever had. To dine, I started out with their Mussels Carbonara appetizer, which came in a bacon parmesan cream sauce that was simply amazing, and served with toast points. As my main entrée I had the Dinner Special of the Night, the Seafood Trio. It had a delicious, giant size crab cake in the middle, scallops, and shrimps, with parmesan risotto sautéed heirloom tomato, spinach, and nice size asparagus, with a burre blanc sauce. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the high-quality of their food and magnificent ambiance of the place. Everything was so delicious that only one word could ever describe them: priceless! For dessert I had their very famous Butterscotch Banana Pudding, which the chef makes at the moment ordered. It looked spectacular and tasted amazingly delicious: a culinary work of art. What a great way for the Gran Finale of an extraordinary dining experience!

You can appreciate this more by viewing my photographs that accompany this review. After I entered the restaurant through two simple glass doors, the inside of the restaurant was clean, with its walls painted white, its floor tiles nice and shiny, and its decor in the minimalist style with only nice looking furniture and nice original paintings and artworks evenly spread around the walls of the restaurant. It had large windows in the front that brought in bright light. Next to the windows and walls were dark red color booths and in the middle of the dining room were tables and chairs. As soon as I entered I was warmly greeted by a young man behind the host's station, who welcomed me with a big smile, handed me a copy of the menu, and asked me to take a seat at the table of my choice. After walking around I went and sat at a table that I not only could feel comfortable, but was situated in a central location with good light so I could observe the restaurant well and be able to take well lit photographs of the food items as soon as I was served and while enjoying my dining experience. The same host doubled as my server, and came by my table with a happy smile to see if I was ready to order. To drink I ordered the CAFE SU ADA, a Vietnamese Iced Coffee with Condensed Milk. As appetizer I ordered Ha Cao, Deep Fried Pork Dumplings served with mixed fish sauce. I also ordered their Goi Cuon Tom 2 Cuon, a shrimp, lettuce, and noddle rolled up with a rice paper, and served with peanut butter sauce. As the main course I ordered their Com Suon, Steamed Jasmine Rice with a Grilled Pork Chop. While ordering I talked with the server and he told me that this was a family owned and run business, together with the AA Asian Market that was inside the same building with an entrance from the restaurant. His mother seemed to be the cook, and his father in charge of running the Market. Through my experience I have found that this is very tipical in many ethnic groups restaurant businesses. The food all came out at once, even though I told my server that I would like my appetizers first. So I would recommend you order the appetizer first and after you're done eating it then order your main course, so the second doesn't get cold and you have more time to enjoy both while conversing with your guests. Everything was delicious: the dumplings, the pork, and the shrimp roll, although I found the rice paper a bit too thick and sticky, making it a bit difficult to handle. The sauces accompanying the food were also extremely good tasting. When I asked what they had for dessert, my server walked to the Market and brought me one of their popular desserts. Not knowing what it was, I ate it anyway. The sweet sauce was good but I didn't care much for the pieces of some type of pieces of a vegetable it had inside. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a wonderful Vietnamese Cuisine dining experience. Both the food and the service were great. So much so that I feel in the process I got to learn more about their culture as well.

One of their employees greeted me with a smile behind the counter and even though I had a small menu of the place, she showed me a large version of the menu located on one of the walls, when I told her this was my first time here. The decor was very simple with chips filling all the all the wooden shelves around, a framed large portrait of the deceased founder of the restaurant, and many award certificates that the restaurant had won through the years. When I approached the cashier counter to pick up my order and to pay for it, a very welcoming and friendly lady who seemed to be the manager of the restaurant talked to me a little bit about the history about the restaurant and about its founder and his wife. From there I also got to see the dining area, that even though it was not used at the moment, gave you a sense of how the restaurant looked when it had eat in service. The food items were all reasonably priced. They sandwiches bread was soft and fresh and well toasted. And the deli meats, cheese, and other ingredients were served in generous portions, and amazingly delicious. And the slice of Dill Pickle was a nice touch to the eating experience. The desserts were also amazing, from the Cheesecake made in-house to the Chocolate Bomb who I would definitely return just for this alone. Even though I missed the inside the restaurant dining experience, I definitely highly recommend the amazing food and extraordinary customer service received. Great place to Order Out food for a family gathering or a special occasion party or event.
