Been wanting to come here forever, literally something in my gut kept on telling me to go, so we finally went to try it out today. Let me tell you this Pho was the best Pho I have had in years! So good, so so worth it! We also tried the Eggroll appetizers and they were so crunchy and delicious! The fish sauce pairs well with them. I have to go back to try out the rest of the menu! The exterior of the building where this Vietnamese Cuisine restaurant is located leaves much to be desired. It has no fancy restaurant front, no fancy landscaping, no nice trimmed green grass, and the two handrails of the three cement steps going up to the entrance door are rusted and almost falling down. Yet the small parking lot in front of the place is often full of cars during lunch and dinner time. But since it is often these hole in the wall restaurants that have the best ethnic foods, I decided today to go try it out. Just above the restaurant's building one can see the beautiful Mill Mountain in all its splendor with the green color of the Spring and above it, the Roanoke Star, highlighted by a beautiful blue sky high above it. You can appreciate this more by viewing my photographs that accompany this review. After I entered the restaurant through two simple glass doors, the inside of the restaurant was clean, with its walls painted white, its floor tiles nice and shiny, and its decor in the minimalist style with only nice looking furniture and nice original paintings and artworks evenly spread around the walls of the restaurant. It had large windows in the front that brought in bright light. Next to the windows and walls were dark red color booths and in the middle of the dining room were tables and chairs. As soon as I entered I was warmly greeted by a young man behind the host's station, who welcomed me with a big smile, handed me a copy of the menu, and asked me to take a seat at the table of my choice. After walking around I went and sat at a table that I not only could feel comfortable, but was situated in a central location with good light so I could observe the restaurant well and be able to take well lit photographs of the food items as soon as I was served and while enjoying my dining experience. The same host doubled as my server, and came by my table with a happy smile to see if I was ready to order. To drink I ordered the CAFE SU ADA, a Vietnamese Iced Coffee with Condensed Milk. As appetizer I ordered Ha Cao, Deep Fried Pork Dumplings served with mixed fish sauce. I also ordered their Goi Cuon Tom 2 Cuon, a shrimp, lettuce, and noddle rolled up with a rice paper, and served with peanut butter sauce. As the main course I ordered their Com Suon, Steamed Jasmine Rice with a Grilled Pork Chop. While ordering I talked with the server and he told me that this was a family owned and run business, together with the AA Asian Market that was inside the same building with an entrance from the restaurant. His mother seemed to be the cook, and his father in charge of running the Market. Through my experience I have found that this is very tipical in many ethnic groups restaurant businesses. The food all came out at once, even though I told my server that I would like my appetizers first. So I would recommend you order the appetizer first and after you're done eating it then order your main course, so the second doesn't get cold and you have more time to enjoy both while conversing with your guests. Everything was delicious: the dumplings, the pork, and the shrimp roll, although I found the rice paper a bit too thick and sticky, making it a bit difficult to handle. The sauces accompanying the food were also extremely good tasting. When I asked what they had for dessert, my server walked to the Market and brought me one of their popular desserts. Not knowing what it was, I ate it anyway. The sweet sauce was good but I didn't care much for the pieces of some type of pieces of a vegetable it had inside. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a wonderful Vietnamese Cuisine dining experience. Both the food and the service were great. So much so that I feel in the process I got to learn more about their culture as well. read more

This place is absolutely amazing. Their pho broth is so rich and delicious. The food came out quickly and the service was great! They provided ample toppings for the pho (bean sorrows, basil, lime, jalapeños) and were very accommodating if we asked for more. We wanted to order pho and banh mi, so we were disappointed to find out that Pho Vietnam only sells noodles. However, we ordered the number 10, an order of egg rolls, and an ice Vietnamese coffee and said we would pick it up (because of COVID) and that we would be there in 10 minutes. The person who answered the phone proceeded to tell us that they wouldn't be able to make the coffee in 10 minutes, so we told that it's fine, we still want the coffee and we'll wait. The outside of Pho Vietnam is a little shady, but good food tends to be in shady spots, right? We knocked on the window as advised and they gave us our food. We paid and left. They are very generous with their portions. There were a lot of noodles, meat, bean sprouts, mint, and jalapenos. They also gave sriracha, hoisin, and lime wedges. It was delicious and reminded me of pho in Brooklyn! I highly recommend the pho, but the broth was a little salty. The eggrolls were alright, nothing fancy. The Vietnamese coffee is strong and delicious. They gave a large cup of it too and a separate, equally large cup of ice. Highly recommend getting the Vietnamese coffee if you like coffee, but be warned about drinking it late in the day because it will keep you up! read more

My wife and I had dinner here last night. We got there as they were locking the doors to close for the night. The owner was very kind and invited us in and welcomed us. We had two orders of fried spring rolls (4 each) and one order of fried pork dumplings (8 each) My wife had large bowl, 1 qt of pho vegetaran and one qt to go for my daughter. The soup has many vegetarian sides that you add to complement the broth. I had a large pork fried rice. The pork in the rice were large thin marinated pieces. Very flavorful! Hong, our server was amazing. He was very attentive to our needs. Attached to the restaraunt is a small Asian Market with fresh produce, frozen items and all things jarred, spices, large bags of rice, bean threads.large variety of Asian food items for food preparation. Additionally, part of that same store has probably nearly a thousand options for colored nail polishes. All things nails seem to be available. Food and customer service were amazing! Average pho. Poor service, not getting an enough attention of what we need, such as asking for "chili oil", sauce, water to fill in. Their broth is okay, not enough flavor to taste. Been looking forward to getting some good pho ever since COVID shut everything down and especially since my recent move to the area. I've probably been to over 20 pho restaurants and Pho Vietnam is certainly in the top 10. The broth is simple, yet flavorful, and definitely not watery like some broths can be. This authentic Vietnamese restaurant sits on a busy street of Orange Ave next to Days Inn. The place wasn't busy at all on a Monday evening, I was the third customer. Please sit anywhere the nice friendly young waitress said. I ordered my usual spring rolls and special pho #10. The spring roll wasn't fresh, I think it was prepared this morning and then they microwave them. This is a BIG no-no as the microwave cooks food unevenly and it brown the lettuce duh!. As for the pho, it was below average, the broth was very plain and blend, I had to add extra soy sauce, Hoisin sauce, and spicy Sriracha sauce to have that extra bold flavor. The lime slices they gave me for my pho was old, probably left over from a few days ago. Disappointing to me because I like my juice. I would mostly try my pho somewhere next time. :-( read more

Good Vietnamese restaurant in Roanoke with a decent sized menu. Started with summer rolls which were pretty good but the rice paper was over done causing them to have a funky texture. The peanut sauce, though watery, had surprisingly good flavor. Roast pork bun vermicelli was delicious as was the pho bo which had a good broth and ample noodles. The spring rolls were also terrific. I love this place. Really tasty Pho with great grilled meats and appetizers. I'm always sad that there aren't more people here. Pho is great and everyone should come try it. Just imagine a huge bowl of noodles in a flavorful broth with onions and spices with a side of tasty grilled meats. The staff are very kind and attentive and the food is always good. The restaurant space is huge, and not all of the interior space is being used for seating so it's a little intimidating inside but I promise you will love the food. :) read more

If you want tasty Vietnamese, this is the place. We have always been very pleased with their Food and love checking out their fresh market on Wednesday nights. Best Pho we have found in town as well. So I'm going to post my same review from urbanspoon here because this place is delicious and people need to know: Seriously, I do not understand the negative reviews. What's with the complaints about the decor? If you know anything about Vietnamese restaurants it's this: the stranger the decor, the better the food. This place is no exception to the rule; the food was delicious and the aesthetics left you confused. It's part of the charm! I personally would be suspicious of any Pho place with matching wallpaper. If you've ever been to the Vietnamese Mecca at 7-corners you know to expect florescent paint colors and crystal orbs on the ceiling. This place does not have that... but JUST GIVE THEM TIME. I also did not see a dirty bathroom, only an old one that needed remodeling. The food should be all that matters and this place does not disappoint. My wife had the Pho tai and I had the tofu eggplant stir fry and honestly it is comparable to a meal at the Eden center, only cheaper. The waiter we had was very nice and the food came out promptly, the service was excellent. I was compelled to write a review because I skipped this place at first just looking at the number of stars it received. Mistake. I tried the other place down the road (pho Saigon?) first and it was mediocre at best; as a Vietnamese American I would hesitate to take my gringo friends under the fear of misrepresenting the culture & cuisine. I'd gladly take them to Pho Vietnam because the food was delicious and there is nothing more authentic than half of the restaurant being a dedicated karaoke stage. read more
