The first time I came to this place I sat down and wasn't served immediately but they gave me a table and asked me to wait, and I took some telework to that table. They never got to me and eventually I decided I wasn't hungry and left. Not great. But they were doing vigorous takeout business during that time, so when I had a need I ordered takeout from them well in advance and it was ready. They offer a few vegetarian dishes, and I took a spicy tofu stir fry and a thicker curry as well as some spring rolls. I got a decent amount of actual tofu. I was a little bit peeved at the broccoli showing up in my curry that wasn't listed on the menu. The rice wasn't quite enough for the saucy dishes, and I do like the aromatic jasmine rice. Overall, though, the flavors were solid, the spicy dish was spicy. Given that I came due to a craving for Thai that my last restaurant experience let me down on, I could at least say the food here was A-OK, in Yelp terms. Sometimes, that's good enough. read more

I'm a Thai food lover..It is by far one of my favorites. I ordered Shrimp green curry and that was fairly good. My partner got his usual, pad Thai with chicken. He asked for it spicy. We also ordered chicken satay. My partner loves that. We never received it. Instead they gave two orders of pad Thai.. not spicy. We did a phone call in order. I went over everything three times. It was a Saturday afternoon, after 3 pm but before 6pm. I ran in to pick it up, but did not check the bag. When we got home there was no chicken satay, but two very bright orange meals?? And my shrimp green curry. I figured it out that it was a dyed orange pad Thai. I say dyed as the chicken that was bright orange too. My partner lost his appetite. He would not eat it. Felt bad for him. I ate only a few bites of the orange noodle,.. it tasted like pad Thai~~ but was not spicy. We were both put off by the orange dye . I had an event after.. we just threw it away.. both orders. I did not call back as I was very clear on the phone, so if the man did not understand me then, why would he after? Why did they dye the food like that? Why was the chicken orange too? We like Thai as it is usually very fresh and clean in taste. My dear friend is from Thailand too. This small restaurant in the heart of Downtown Roanoke is one that I've always wanted to visit and this evening I dedecided to ignore the cold and windy weather outside and go try it out. When I arrived at the restaurant it was already dark outside due to the change of time, but the restaurant looked even more attractive than in the daytime due to the brilliant lights coming out from their window. They had a copy of their extensive menu posted on one of their walls next to the entrance of the restaurant. As I entered the restaurant the decor itself has a taste of Thailand. It was like entering into another world. The host / server greeted me warmly and asked me to sit in any table I liked. I picked one near the center of the dining room area. It had a copy on the menu on it. To start off with I ordered a Virgin Pina Colada to drink. As an appetizer I ordered the Thai Sausage. And as the main entrée I ordered the Prik-Pao Noodles with Pork. All the food was so looked and tasted amazingly tasty and delicious. As I ate several people came to pick up takeout orders as well as others to eat in. You could tell this place had some steady customers, and others new like me.For dessert I ordered the Sticky Rice with Mango. It didn't disappoint me at all. Delicious. Thai cuisine has a very special taste and this restaurant knows it and delivers. I encourage all those who want to share this taste to try it out. Incredibly fresh and faster than sitting in a drive thru. The Panang curry and coconut sticky rice was amazing.

It was pretty good. We went hiking and found this restaurant. We were lucky that found a free parking spot on the street. Just a little bit walk but really enjoyed the street. This was my 2nd time here and I wanted to give it a 2nd chance, but both times, I did not enjoy it. The first time I had the pad see ew, a dish I've had many times at other places. This version was very dry, the sauce was not yummy, and the tofu tasted a bit sour. This time I had the koa soy, a dish I'd never had before. The texture was fun, but it was a little bit too salty. But this is just a matter of personal taste. My mom had the Honey Duck, which is advertised as a roast duck, in a honey-ginger sauce on a bed of steamed vegetables. The duck was 85% thick/fatty skin, not a crispy skin. The sauce, which I expected to be like a thick glaze, was a pool of liquid. When I expressed our disappointment in the description of the duck vs. what we got, the response was (paraphrase) "the chef wanted to let you know that there was a pound of duck in there," which did not address our concern. It was $18, so it was not worth the money. We went at peak dinner time (6:20-7:45 pm) so it was packed and there was only one waitress working, so many tables had to wait a long time. This, I'm not as frustrated at, but I wanted to put it in the review for others to keep in mind. Overall, this restaurant is just not for me. Others may enjoy it. The first time, my friends seemed to enjoy the curry; the Vegan Pad Thai is also good, just make sure to squeeze lime in. read more

Decided to try this place for the first time and ordered pickup. Portions were decent. At first it looked a bit small for the pricing but it either way, it was enough for a meal. What really brought this down to a 2 star instead of a 3 star is the service I received (or lack there of) when I called and asked about the chicken wings I was wanting to try. Only one of my wings had a bone in it (I was told all of them should be bone in wings) and that the cook most likely accidentally cooked general Taos chicken instead. Being told "that is very disconcerning" and no offer to help resolve the issue is the biggest concern I have with the restaurant. The other food was meh. Not great, not bad - just meh. Probably ordered the wrong thing, but did not like the food ordered. Ordered khao soi and there was a whole missing portion of cooked noodles. Khao soi is supposed to have crispy noodles and cooked noodles, but this version was only crispy noodles. I barely touched my food. Also ordered the duck krapow, and the duck was fine, but the breading was doughy, instead of crispy. One A M A Z I N G thing was their Thai tea, wow! Was in a huge mason jar & had enough caffeine to help substantially offset the food putting me to sleep. There were really nice elephant decorations and a super nice elephant tapestry. Also, there were fun wooden cats in the window sill. While I appreciate that the place was an alternative to the pizza/steak/burger party in the downtown Roanoke area, one suggestion to the owner: cut 3/4 of the menu, to specialize in 10-15 items and be AMAZING at creating those recipes so ingredients don't get old/go bad/taste rancid. I ate here on New Years and it was probably the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I can't think of a worse time in my entire life than this place. Maybe it was a one off, but not returning. The food was rancid. And I mean like they served me rotten food. I first had soup. It tasted sour, like it had been sitting out for days. This was the first time in years that I ever sent a dish back. Then we both had our main dishes. I could only eat a few bites then I just stopped eating. I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. This is quite literally one of the best restaurants in Roanoke and certainly the best for Thai food. I have never had a bad experience or meal here. I've tried multiple things on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. My top favorites include the Pha Ram Long Song (best meal) and Threes Company! My boyfriend and I just ordered a to go order from here an hour ago, he order the lo mein noddles with beef and I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken. The lo mein noodles weren't even lo mein noodles at all, it was ramen noodles, it was soupy, soggy, greasy, and barely any meat in it at all. I use to actually work here (unfortunately) when I worked there they never cleaned the wok, after he cooked a dish he would use a scrubber, rinse out the wok, dump out the water and then just put oil in it and cook another dish. The used old/dirty dish rags to "clean and sanitize" the tables with, never cleaned out the sanitizer bucket, rarely ever changed out the sanitizer water as well, used old/dirty mop head to mop the floors with. I never even really saw them clean the kitchen and when it was time to refill the sauce bottles they never cleaned the bottles on the inside, just wipe off the sauce in the outside and refilled it. They keep a big pot full of wonton sauce in the walk-in for months on end without replacing it with fresh sauce. They also had roaches when I worked there. I 100,000% do not recommend this place at all, the staff is horrible, the food is worse, and the restaurant is just altogether disgusting! read more
