I have posted my PSA Health Hazzard Warning. Since then, I'm getting numerous other reports from others saying the same thing. They're not sterilizing their equipment in between clients and others have gotten sick. Please, if you still go there to get any service, make sure you're getting sterilized tools. Also, they do waxing as well and they are,"Double Dipping", so to speak. When waxing, each time they dip the disposable wooden stick (like a doctors tongue depressor), they are supposed to throw them away after one dip. Then grab another one to do the next part. Well they don't do that either. There's so many health hazzards here! I'm surprised the Health Department hasn't made a visit. read more

Happy Nails Bar is the only place I trust with my nails. Steven is the best and he has transformed my nails over the last year. Let me tell you they go above and beyond for their clients from drinks, fruit cups, and just over all making sure that you have a great experience. I have a standing appointment every two weeks and every time I come the place is spotless they are always cleaning their stations and making sure it is ready for you with nothing left behind. Although it took me awhile to find a nail salon that I want to continue to come back to Happy Nails Bar was worth the wait! I was welcomed in to the immaculately clean establishment immediately and promptly led to a pedicure chair upon arriving I selected the deluxe pedicure for $38 which includes your standard nail care, scrub, hot stone massage, and hot towels. They do a thorough job of nail and foot care here -it was hard for me to a find a place that used the proper tools to remove all the calluses for instance-and a very neat polish. My nail tech CATHY even made sure to go back and perfect every toe prior to polish. I'm visiting town. They were able to fit me in pretty quickly considering I called ahead for a manicure with gel polish. Steven took care of me and had me out in 30 minutes. He talked me in to something called SNS for $35 since I'm trying to grow out my natural nails. It does feel strong and looks good far away although I'm not sure I like the speckled look the powder made up close. My only negative was I wanted a manicure. He seemed a little rushed. Generally that means hand soaking for softer skin, cuticle and lotion massage and I got none of that though he did offer a shoulder massage ^_~! All in all pretty great visit. read more

While in Saint Augustine for a beauty pageant, I had one of my acrylic nails break. I began searching for the highest reviewed salon in the area that could get me in short notice, and found Happy Nails Bar. My thoughts upon walking In, were that overall it looked like a clean well-maintained place. I explained that I needed a fill and a new nail. The older gentleman who seemed like a manager explained that there was a deal to get a fill and pedicure for $35. Of course I jumped on that. When getting to the pedi chairs I noticed they were all very dirty in the inside. They just covered them with the bags not bothering to clean out the last persons foot junk stuck in the bottom. However I was pleased to see they did use sterile bagged clippers and files. The lady did an amazing job on my toes and she was so sweet. I should have stopped at my pedicure honestly. I was sent to the manager-like man so he could do my nails. He started by shoving a cuticle pusher under my broken nail to pop it off. He then over-filed it. When I told him it was burning my finger he said he was almost done. He then filed all my other nails to different wonky shapes. When adding the plastic nail to the finger her filed it MORE so it was flush with my real nail and then did such a thin coat of acrylic that it might as well have not even been there. He started painting my nails and it was all lumpy and uneven and he got polish on my skin. I asked if he could add a matte top coat and he said yes of course. He was rushing, forgot the matte, smeared nail polish, turned my coffin shape into a mix of square and oval, and finished with "that will be $85". I was in shock! $85 dollars for a hot mess express. When I questioned it I was given a rundown of the price. Everything was what I explained I needed that he had said was going to $35 initially. At this point I didn't have time to argue. I paid, did not leave a tip, and left only for the same nail he fixed to break 2 days later when I was out Florida. 10/10 would NOT recommend. Next time I'll choose more wisely. read more

Wonderful, yes, I'd even say a Happy experience! I walked in not knowing what to expect. It's brand new and there were no reviews when I checked. It's immaculate, they use bags in the baths and the tools are clearly autoclaved. I was greeted by several people, all very pleasant. I sat down an was then offered a beverage...that's new for me; that doesn't happen in New England, where I'm from. The service was wonderful. It wasn't until he learned that I was paying the tip that he opted to attempt to speak and (insultingly) joke around with me. They do have a bar, though. So that's a plus. I tried this place after calling another nail salon and being told they were all booked up for the entire week so I ignored the mostly negative Yelp reviews and crossed my fingers hoping that I wouldn't have a bad experience like some of the other Yelp reviewers. Upon arrival I told the employees that I needed a gel fill in and that I would like to have a design done. I was asked if I wanted to get a pedicure done also; (I respect the hustle )! I refused and was asked to sit and wait for a few minutes until someone could help me. I was given a ring full of false nails color samples to choose my color. It wasn't too very long before I was seated with Kim. I showed Kim a couple of my Pinterest ideas I had picked out the night before as far as nail designs went and gave her the option to tell me if she would be able to recreate any of the designs I chose. She swiftly picked a sunflower . Although I was there for a gel fill in I'm positive that she did the acrylic instead. Which is fine they turned out great I was just waiting to be told I would have to pay for a gel fill. To my surprise she told me that it would only be $40 total after my one nail design on each ring fingers. I've been to Happy Nails several times and really wanted to like the place due to it being close to home. I've waited to write a review because I thought each time I had suboptimal service might have been a fluke. The rest of their reviews are pretty good. After my third visit today, I've determined the level of service and lack of attention to detail must be the norm for Happy Nails. There are a few things I have noticed that they could improve upon. 1) Take more time trimming cuticles and filing nails. Each pedicure I've had here has chipped within 5-7 days, requiring me to touch up the polish with a similar color at home. 2) Don't rush the leg massage. Every nail tech I've used here has given minimal effort with the leg and foot massage. 3) Pay better attention to detail with the polish placement. Every time I've left with polish on my skin or missing polish on the edge of several nails. Partially my fault for not seeing it before I left but I shouldn't have to inspect each nail for a service I'm paying more for here than other nail salons. Today, I pointed out several areas that needed attention and was made to feel i like I'd inconvenienced the tech as she begrudgingly attempted to fix the problem. I heard the lady next to me with the same problem and she was also addressed in a dismissive manner and told her nails were fine. During my gel manicure, the light kept turning off and the nail tech usually turns it back on but not this time. I even pointed it out to her and she dismissed me. 4) Please speak English. This may seem like it doesn't matter to most but as a paying customer, I think it does matter. A similar nail salon in Fleming Island seems to require all of their nail techs to speak English because it was something I noticed and thought it was a nice touch. As a paying customer, it's nice to feel like you can be a part of the conversation. I doubt I'll go back to Happy Nails at this point. I'd prefer to drive further, pay less and get better service. Update: As I suspected, the polish didn't last. 6 days from the gel manicure, 2 of my fingernails have chipped polish. 9 days after the pedicure, my large toe nail has a large corner of polish that flaked off. $55 for a gel manicure and standard pedicure was wasted for a service that i didn't even get 10 days from. I've had gel manicures and standard pedicures many times and always been able to go a solid 3 weeks, sometimes 4 weeks, before chipping occurs. I will absolutely not be back. read more
