Our teen and I stopped by this afternoon and were warmly welcomed by the owner, who took the trouble to describe the options and even made us a sample of their signature drink - green tea with salted cheese (!) - to try. "Take a sip, not a gulp, that includes some salted cheese (which floats on top) with the green tea," he said. I did, and was hooked!! I immediately ordered a large one, and our daughter went for the matcha tea with salted cheese (both $6.50). We also got an original waffle (they make six types, including red bean, which is not listed on the menu) with a dipping sauce which was... you guessed it... salted cheese! The waffle and drinks were delish. We polished off the waffle (I enjoyed the salted cheese more than our daughter did) and our drinks, then stepped out into the April drizzle, happy and content as we could be! My wife and I love this place and come at least once a week. The Mango Matcha Smoothie is always our go-to although they have so many good choices to choose from. The Mango Matcha is thirst quenching and not too sweet which is exactly how I like it. If we're feeling hungry, we always add the Original Bubble Waffle with the Puff Cream. We never get the waffle by itself. The Puff Cream just makes it a thousand times better. Regardless of what we get, the staff is always super friendly and our drinks are almost always made on time when we call it in or order through the app. Overall, I give this place 4 stars for always having good drinks and friendly service. Some things that would definitely give this 5 stars: -The bubble waffle is often made inconsistently and it's usually because of the person making it. I got their regular Boba milk tea, and the milk tea was spot on. The milk tea drink itself was creamy and delicious. The Boba was also cooked pretty spot on. This happy lemon is always good, the tea is nice and strong. They added a Vietnamese coffee drink that's tasty, good roasted flavor to it. I think what they really need are self ordering pads. That way staff can mainly focus on making drinks unless someone really wants to order at the counter or has questions. They have a screen that shows what orders are up--they should take a look at the screen local kitchens in Lafayette uses, it shows what orders are ready in a really nice way. The drinks come out pretty quickly. This Happy Lemon recently took over the old Starbucks location in this small strip of stores, this location is more convenient than the Blackhawk location as its right off the freeway close to "downtown" San Ramon. This location offers a fresh new interior, ample seating, and friendly service. Menu wise, is pretty much the same with only minor changes I believe. Prices seem to have gone up since visiting Happy Lemon a few months ago. Drinks were good and tasted consistent with other locations which is great as a brand. Service was ok. I understand new employees need training, but this should have been addressed before opening such as familiarizing yourself with the menu/and knowing what drinks have what in them. Horrible Horrible customer service and the product is not as advertised! Today was my first day trying Happy Lemon. I got the Strawberry Matcha Latte and it basically was a $8 cup of ICE! The ice was filled to the rim and they give you a colored cup with a sealed lid so you can't see that they basically gave you a spoon full of beverage. I went back to tell them I was unhappy and showed them the large amount of ice they added to the cup. They basically refused to provide any form of customer service and told me I would have to tell them on the future light ice. I told them that was EXTRA ice it's more than half a cup and asked them nicely to provide some level of customer service as this was my first time and my drink was gone in less than 4 sips. I'm pregnant so my husband also asked on my behalf and one of the owners yelled at him and got super disrespectful. It would have been super easy to remake a drink or ANYTHING but instead they yelled that they own both Happy Lemons and people don't mind the ice so they didn't care. Why would anyone come back in the future when the product and service is so distasteful the very first time. read more
