Happy Daz is usually GREAT! However the Elida Rd location (1st time here) seems to be an older one. While the food was basically on par with other locations, the bathroom was just nasty! Smelled of urine, and no towels to dry hands. DEFINITELY needs updated! Will stick to the other nearby Lima locations in the future. read more

I went to Happy Daz on Bellfountaine today for lunch and the girl working the drive thru was rude, not only that but my tenderloin was made wrong. It was supposed to be made the way it comes but add mustard and extra tomatoes and when it got it, it only had mustard on it. I had to go back to work so I couldn't leave to take it back. Came here a while back because i have driven by tons of times on my way from Van Wert to Lima and back. Absolutely love the decor, has that 50s burger place/diner feel. Takes a bit to get your food, but the food is great. Ive had their burgers and chicken tenders... both absolutely delish. Definitely worth coming here for a bite. read more

We stopped last week one day to get a tenderloin. We were very disappointed to find that they are not the same as they used to be. We went again yesterday to try again and sure enough, it has changed. The meat was smaller, drier and not as good as before on a dried out bun. Although I salute owner John Heaphy's enthusiasm for seasonal menus, they generally fall flat. This fall, he is offering a disappointing bratwurst platter. It includes two bratwurst sausages on a bed of sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, grilled onion and cornbread. The brats taste more like breakfast links. The mashed potatoes is flavorless and looks like it came from an ice-cream scoop. The onion is a nice touch but sorta out of place. The cornbread is the lone star of the show. And sauerkraut's impossible to mess up. For $6, I expected more from a restaurant that does diner classics so well. read more

I miss a few things from the 2 years that I lived in Lima, and Happy Daz T-Loins are definitely one of them. Not something you see very often and they are sooo good. A little difficult to eat since the meat to bun ratio is out of whack, but so worth it. I usually try to swing by Happy Daz if I'm traveling through Lima. read more

Decorations in restaurant were awesome, reflected the old 50's style with black and white tile floors, vintage signs for Coca-Cola, Good Year, Vess Cola, and there's a gas pump inside by the front counter. Food prices are decent, my grandma, mom, and I got food for a little under $20, drinks included. Grandma loved her cheeseburger. My mom ordered a pork tenderloin and cheesy Coney fries. She thought the sandwich was about average compared to all the tenderloin sandwiches she's ever had but she really liked the fries. I just had a fry and coke. The tables and floor were all clean and there were 3 arcade games for kids. I spent $1.50 on the Skittle ball machine and won each time I played. 700 points would get you a small prize or a little ball of candy, 1800 got a medium prize which were stickers (honestly I wasn't thrilled about that one), and 2300+ points got a large prize, or a medium sized ball that had a small stuffed animal in it. Was entertaining to play. The family has decided to stop by again and try more stuff next time we pass through Ohio. read more

At the end of April my roommate and I stopped to eat at the Elida Location. Sadly it has went down hill food wise! I ordered two Burgers, a super sack of fries, and two drinks. The Burgers were barely warm, cheese was still ice cold . The Fries were luke warm at best. Never had food this bad from this location. Back in 2019 we got a super sack of fries that were so hot that they remained that way even after we got home which was 25 Miles west of Elida, Ohio. This location of Happy Daz is one of the newer ones in town. It is always busy and the food is good. If you are heading west on Elida road and turning into the place or trying to turn west onto Elida Road when leaving the establishment, traffic can be difficult to navigate. While I am impartial to the burgers, the tenderloins are world class. Usually they have some type of discount on tenderloins in the evening hours. This is not fast food, be prepared to wait 5-10 minutes for your food, but it is well worth it. Whenever I am in Lima, I try to visit one of the Happy Daz. read more

More than once I've had issues with the Cable Road store. First occasion we returned home to find our sandwiches were not edible. Extremely undercooked, obvious. Second passion we purchased to chilies. Half way home the bag leaked due to stacking the Styrofoam bowls in the bag. Narrowly avoided burns. Like this place. It does take a few extra minutes to get your food, however, it is usually piping hot when you do receive it. I'm not too crazy about his seasonal menus but the grilled cheese is wonderful especially on cold days. The food is over priced and bland...supposedly cooked to order...it is impossible to cook that many orders from scratch in the length of time prior to receiving your order. I am not writing this review to say that all Happy Day are bad. I have just found the one in Elida to be subpar. It is dirty. The staff is far more concerned about who is coming in or what the small town gossip is than service. In a moment of poor decision making a family member went to this store, rather than the preferred store on S. Cable. The order was for chili, the new chicken tacos, and two pineapple milkshakes. This order was purchased through the drive thru, and brought home. The chicken tacos were bitter, tasted scorched, and we're so salty they were inedible. The chili was not made properly. It was a bag of chili spices, ground beef, and it's grease and kidney beans. No tomato, beef stock etc. Erika at Good Food Inc. Now comes the worst and most shocking part. We also got pineapple milk shakes. Happy Day milkshakes are thick and usually yummy. I opened the lid after drinking about half of to stir it . What was remaining in the cup was full of fruit gnats. Yes BUGS!!! I contacted Good Food inc., and ended up having to leave a message. I waited a full day before calling the Health department. I then received a call from Susie, who heard what I had to say , told me she understood why I was upset, and then said well I don't handle this so Erika will call you when she returns. People I drank half a milk shake full of bugs but sure I will wait. Erika called back and was immediately on the defense. New manager, new high school kids, were some of the excuses. It is summer and we try to keep the bugs away. Excuse me? She also said the Health department showed up today and everything was fine. Sure it was honey. You had 3 days notice. I have much respect for Mr. Heaphy. I have been a patron of his for many years. Having a home town restaurant, especially when huge chains rule the world takes guts and hard work. He should just maybe take more time in house, consider how his staff are disrespectfully representing him and not become to big that he stops being what he wanted.
