Greay daily specials on fast-ish diner food. Awesome tenderloin sandwich. Save room for dessert, as the soft-serve treats are massive and diverse.

A fast food diner with decent burgers, fries, fried pickles, shredded chicken sandwich (chicken pot pie on a bun!), soup, Mac n cheese. Friendly service and terrific 50s kitsch pop decor.

The batter was that perfect golden crisp where every bite had that little crunch, but the fish itself was flaky and melt-in-your-mouth soft. You know when something is fried just right and not heavy or greasy at all? That. And the tartar sauce?? Not your average situation. It had this fresh, almost elevated flavor that made everything even better. I was literally dipping every last bite like I didn't trust the plate not to disappear. But honestly, what made it even more special was the people. Every single staff member was so kind and welcoming, and the chef actually came out to talk with us. I got to thank him personally for making me such an amazing gluten-free meal, which meant a lot because that's not always easy to find. It also has a beautiful outdoor seating area, which i would recommend to use during the spring-summer months. They also do have outdoor heaters, but I despise the cold too much to brave it out when it gets cold. There are constantly events done here, special menus are a thing... i would recommend always to take a look at their facebook page to see what they are up to. They serve delicious brunches, especially during holidays. I attended during both Easter and Mother's Day. All you can eat for about $25 is great, especially considering how great the food tastes and the selection. Their speciality though is dinner, and to be more clear, they are masters of steak. This place is easily in my top 5 steak places I have ever eaten in, and considering I love steak... that should tell you something. I've had the Texas Ribeye, the Sirloin and the Surf and Turf... magnificent! I love being able to cook the steak, just how I like it on a hot stone. It's one of the big things, that makes this place truly special! It all comes seasoned and ready for cooking. All you have to do, is cook it how you desire on that hot stone. It's so satisfying! Both cooking it and eating it! The smell when it cooks, the sound of the sizzle, it makes your stomach and palate appreciate the meal more. The anticipation that your senses create in you as you cook the steak, greatly increases the pleasure when you finally take a bite. You can also add things to your steak for a very small up-charge. My favorite is the Kentucky Bourbon Glaze as it makes the steak exquisite! Now, If you are not willing to try cooking your entree in the hot stone yourself, the kitchen is more than happy to make it for you. A number or co-workers did that. Although, they voiced their regret, when they saw me cook my own. They loved their steak, but they saw how much fun I was having. They also serve fish, chicken, burgers and other entrees. I've heard great things about the burgers from colleagues and my brother when I ate with them. It is on my list for future consumption. My mother and I've had the half roasted sous vide chicken. The chicken was absolutely incredible. It was perfectly seasoned and juicy. The service is excellent. The waitstaff is so attentive and personable! Everyone who works there from the front of the house staff, kitchen, managers, and owner are just so nice! I know I am making this place sound almost too good to be true, but this place is truly good. If there was anything I wish this amazing place would do would be the following: 1) Expand. They get a lot of business, and it can be a bit packed during the special holiday brunches. 2) Add shrimp as a main menu item. I really enjoyed the shrimp when I ordered the surf and turf. Sometimes you just want shrimp, because having that with a large steak is just too much. Also some others just prefer seafood over steak. If you already sell the shrimp on the side, why not also make it a main? These are just minor points, because this place is just wonderful! If you live in Van Wert and have not tried this place, you're crazy. If you live nearby whether it's Celina, Saint Marys, Lima, Convoy, New Haven or Fort Wayne, it's worth the drive!

Upon first glance the outside doesn't really give you that vibe, but don't be fooled. The moment you walk through the doors, the crisp, modern atmosphere immediately sets the tone for an exceptional evening. We were seated promptly and welcomed by our server Joleen, who provided attentive and friendly service throughout the meal. Our group ordered wine and some appetizers. We chose the Cesar salad, french onion soup, tuna tower, scallops, and shrimp cocktail. The presentation alone was enough to impress. Everything was absolutely divine. The scallops were some of the best I've ever eaten. Seasoned and cooked to perfection, the smoked bacon jam was an ideal pairing. As impressed as we were with the appetizers, the entrees somehow managed to top them. Our table ordered the filet mignon, steak frites, and the smash burger. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and while I don't typically order steak with a sauce the blackberry demi glaze added just the right amount of flavor without overpowering the meat. My friends thoroughly enjoyed their meals stating that the smash burger was the best burger they had ever had. We finished dinner with a coffee and a crème brûlée. If you are looking for a phenomenal dining experience in Port Clinton, this is it. They really checked all the boxes.

As a Pescetarian in Northeast Ohio I have meaning to try Jolly Roger Seafood House for a while,…read morewell I finally got there and the big question is why I waited so long. Jolly Roger is located in Port Clinton right on Lake Erie; I was expecting something ordinary or just a bit dated and boy was I wrong. The building is very modern and clean from the outside, white and angular with big windows. Inside white walls, rough hewn wooden tables and just the right amount of decor makes for a modern seaside feel, casual but also classy. The setup is fast casual, you order and pay up front at the counter, get a number for your table and then get your own drink at the service station. The menu is understandably very heavy on fish and seafood with a couple of other items. While there are the expected fried fish meals, but also oysters, shrimp and salmon, salads and even some tacos. The reason I came was of course for the fried fish, I decided on the Perch and Chips, which is $18. I grabbed some water, hot sauce and lemon and settled onto a table. The meal was brought out fresh and hot by a food runner in a couple of minutes. The meal was 4 nice sized perch fillets on top of a generous portion of fresh waffle fried potatoes with a side of tarter sauce. The fish were excellent, fresh and perfectly fried with a nice crispy cornmeal crust around the delicately fish; moist with a slight sweetness and perfect texture. The waffle fries were exceptional, fried to a crisp outside and tasty inside; usually fries at a seafood place are an afterthought, here they actually are well worth getting and eating. Even the tarter sauce was very nice, nothing special but creamy with a nice pickle contrast to add a little extra flavor. Usually when I see a place that has been around this long and has great reviews I am a bit let down when I give them a try; Jolly Rogers Seafood House exceeded my expectations in almost every way. Although set up as a fast casual restaurant with a typical fried seafood menu, the actual restaurant feels more upscale and modern with a great inside and a very nice patio looking out onto Lake Erie. The food is not cutting edge, but it is expertly prepared and delicious. Prices are moderate with large portions for your money. Some of the best fried perch and waffle fries I have had. I will be back any time I am in the area, a very high recommendation as long as you are looking for fish or seafood, go and enjoy.

My husband, who is extremely picky about meat quality, declared it the best burger he's ever had. Stuffed burgers are notoriously tricky to cook to a preferred well-done without drying out, but the kitchen nailed it! My only minor critique--and this is just personal preference as a bit of a seasoning buff--is the perch. The fish itself was amazingly fresh, which is the most important detail, but the fried batter was a little plain for my taste. I would've loved a kick of Old Bay or extra seasoning in the batter, similar to how amazingly seasoned the fries were! All in all, this spot is a great hidden gem in Sandusky. Highly recommend stopping in!

We waited 45 minutes to get a salad, it was a Caesar salad salad and they were already out of Romain dressing at 7 PM on a Friday night. We had a Caesar salad salad with spring mix instead... No big deal. The portions were huge, but our dinner came in an hour and 15 minutes after we sat down. It was painfully slow, I will say our waitress was apologetic and helpful. And I know that it was busy, but it's really no excuse for it to look so dirty. It only takes a minute to sweep under a table after a party leaves. The bathroom was deplorable, there was water on the floor and muddy footprints everywhere. The napkins on the ground around the tables along with discarded french fries and shrimp tails were a bit gross. The food is five star, the rest... ehhhhh

And another lady that was floating around checking on tables was very sweet and fun! We really struggled with our ordering and "locking it in"...therefore we ended up ordering what felt like half the menu. For appetizers, we got calamari and the baked crab dip. The calamari was pretty light and delicious. The crab dip was heavy and but had a great flavor. I wasn't a huge fan of the chips but it was great with the bread that came to our table. The bread basket came out steaming and the butter was amazing we had to ask for extra. The butter is whipped and has green onions in it. Hubby and daughter each got clam chowder--it was different from what they are used to (and they are both clam chowder connoisseurs) but they still thought it was very good--just thinner and a lot more meaty ingredients. Daughter loved the halibut with risotto. Hubby really enjoyed the boathouse burger--bacon jam was new for him but he loved it. Though the burger was messy--he definitely cleaned the plate. My seafood platter was pretty good, I ate the scallops and coconut shrimp first. Then came our next dilemma...dessert!! So we each got one!
