Great place for kids (and adults). Took my 5 year old here today and he had a blast. We'll definitely be back.

Indoor climbing place suitable for children 5 years and up. There facility is not large however it makes good use of the space. There's a ropes course you can go on if you're able to successfully climb up 3 walls. My son was scared at first but was able to have a pleasant experience. For $35, it includes access to soft play which consists of one play area. My 2 year old had to pay $20 for access to the soft play area and was bored after 10 mins so I wouldn't suggest bringing anyone under 5 here. The plus side is you don't need to rent any climbing shoes. Fortunately, the climbing sessions are 90 mins so it was not too crowded for a Saturday. Street parking available around the school and park across the street.

Best teacher in the world !!

Omg, this is a little hidden gem !!! Even though it's right on a busy area!!! The Staff is soooooo nice, helpful, and very very professional ! Very very clean, and very safe! My children loved loved it !! Especially the lady whom helped explained the rules , the way to use the equipments etc.. she made my kids day and mine!!! I think she was the tallest of the girls working there ! Long dreads, beautiful and always always smiling! Even when my daughter was scared half way through her climbing, and froze , she came in soooooo quick!!! And climbed that wall I. 2 seconds !! To help my child !!! Unbelievable !! Bless you !! You will see who I am talking about , as I will post a pic with my children and their friends listening to her instructions attentively, I will come back every month , and will recommend this place to everyone I know . As she is the one who deserves all credits !! Again thank you !!

Came in here last minute on a Saturday late afternoon. Me my husband and my 8 yr old. To fill out the waiver was so annoying. When we finally figured it out. They charged us for my daughter and we went in. Seems like you can bring food/drinks because they didn't check our bags and it was pretty smooth to go in. There were lockers or just cubby's to put your belongings if you choose to. There is a small earring area- small concession. Someone has to put the harness on you or your child. . The staff member explains how to work that click and how to get down etc. the place is bigger than i thought and very clean . Ppl were nice . Can't wait to go back

Had such a fun experience climbing with my daughter. Hapik is an introduction course to get kids acclimated with boulder/rock climbing. There are safety ropes and harnesses at every rock station. Staff was super helpful and friendly and were really patient with kids. My daughter initially had a difficult time with ascending down from the top of the wall; with the help of staff members whom were readily there to coach my child the steps to safely let go of the rope and calm her fear of heights. I myself had no issue climbing my way up, but struggled with ascending down as well, I closed my eyes gave a quick shout and held on tight to the rope for dear life. The landing area are all foam mats and once each wall is completed, instructors are there to assist with clamping the floor mat back onto the locket of the wall; There are plenty free lockers to store belongings and vending machines to purchase light snacks. Definitely coming back during summer break.

If you and your climbing partner have a significant weight difference or you like feeling terrified…read morejust top roping - DO NOT GO HERE. This is the literal only gym I've ever been to that just drapes the top-ropes over the anchors, rather than looping them over once. (And I used to climb at the Movement in San Francisco which this was NOT the case at.) This creates a HUGE issue for the lighter weight climber when belaying, and is frankly so scary it's made me not like climbing anymore. All they offer are some giant, dirty kettlebells for you to lug around with you, but that only (kind of) stops you from launching in the air. It doesn't prevent the extreme amount of friction you have to fight through the Grigri. I've never even had this much of a problem lead climbing, because we can use an ohm, which you can't use top roping because it pins the rope to the wall which is unsafe for the climber. When I brought up this concern to someone who works there they shrugged it off like it wasn't a big deal, and said "oh well it's better because lowering is faster this way" uh... okay, but it's not better if i'm literally fighting for my life simply to lower my partner and not kill them or be launched into the air?? but yeah, lowering faster is nice, sure. I want so badly to like this gym, but the complete lack of regard for safety is mind-boggling. The biggest shame is that it's the only gym of it's type in the area so it's either climb here unsafely, or don't climb at all. Shame on Movement Corporate for not doing more to regulate the safety at their gyms.

[Updated Review from 5 stars to 3 stars to 4 stars]…read more Been a customer since its opening, i guess that makes me a 2+ year customer of this place. After spending this much time, I guess my review should be a legit and honest review There has been good and bads, most of the bads have been fixed, i.e. wifi password issues, scheduling, etc. What remains are the good. Tho, there are still some tiny room for improvement like: adding a weight scale in the workout area, add clothing racks into restroom doors to facilitate changing, add couple more rope anchors as they become scarce when its crowded at the corner, etc. These are minor, simple, and inexpensive suggestions to enhance customer experience... I come here for a workout and mostly stick to rope climbing. The length for the climbing are the tallest in the area, 60ft. And some overhang. Which is amazing for endurance workout. Most of the times this place hosts rope competition and perhaps building the next generation competitive youth/young athletes. Kudos contributing back to the community and helping parents help their kids grow and to have a shot at the big stage. A side effect of hosting competitions is that the settings left are compy style and spread out. They do their best to fill the routes afterwards, good work takes time, so lots of patience is needed. Compy routes might not be suitable for the recreational climber, as they are challenging and tailored to people who have been training consistently. Bad luck to you if you make a long trip and find closure and/or compy routes only, I guess should check social media for these kind of updates. For the normal routes, most of the times they put a lot of thought in the route and flow. I like that. Because the gym's size might be limited, they only have about thirty-ish leadable routes, sometimes I wish they could put three climbs in one route to maximize the number of climbs, like how they do it in other places in Europe and in Asia. Just a wishful thinking. In terms of the route style it can somehow be predictable. The recipe is usually reachy holds that requires deadpoint, and compy holds (perhaps next to the greatest holds), which might not work for people using the gym to train for outdoors climb and short people. Well, not everything is perfect and cant be picky in everything. I think it is good as is at the moment In terms of bouldering, I do not boulder often in here because of the limited bouldering space, hence limited offering and grade variability the gym provides. I've come to realization that the style is not suitable for me and can be very predictable. From v0 to v3, its quite straightforward, either too easy or just a staircase. From v4 onwards i feel they want you to cut feet. Most of the routes are either jumps, dyno, coordination, or reachy that you have to deadpoint or can barely reach it statically, with holds spread out without any holds in between. Feels like most are compy style that they aim to build the next generation for and for the big stage. Nothing wrong with the MO of the gym and what they are aiming for. Its actually good that they are aiming for specific customers, and they would know it best because I see other people getting rowdy, cheerful, and excited about all the jumps and dynos... But, this is definitely not for me. I've got too much at stake to get injured and become decomissioned for long time... So, I end up going to other gyms for hardcore bouldering: gp81, vital les, and sometimes even method climbing gym. It is just me tho. This place has a tension board 2 for training. I used to train with it until i realized it conditions me to those holds and makes me useless at rope climbing and bouldering. So i stopped using it. But it can be a great tool for core training and to get stronger. Overall, its a great gym for rope and not so much for bouldering. My two cents. If you never been here, i'd say its definitely worth coming to check it out. : )

Pros: 1) It's one of the few gyms in the area, and it offers a few ropes routes which is nice. 2) This location is chill and not crowded after work, which is a plus if you work 9-6. You never have to fight over a route even though the gym isn't huge. 3) The employees are super friendly and wonderful. We felt welcomed as soon as we walked through the door. 4) Despite not being new, it seems clean and well maintained. 5) This may be a pro or a con depending on how you look at it, but the grades are slightly soft. I'll frame this as a pro because it makes it a more approachable gym for people who are new to climbing. 6) The climbers I spoke to were all super nice. I've noticed all gyms seem to have their own "culture." This one is welcoming and approachable. 7) There seems to be a good range of setting styles. Cons: 1) While it is nice that there is a rope/sport climbing section, it is pretty teeny, the routes are short, and the grades are pretty much limited to soft 5.11+ and below. That being said, space is a hot commodity in Manhattan so I'm appreciative of any ropes gym. 2) It would be nice if they sold snacks/refreshments. Most gyms offer this and it's a nice way to get more out of your session if you forget to bring your own. 3) With approachability comes climbers who are still learning gym courtesy. Things like starting a route that overlaps with someone else's or not untying one's figure eight knot were things that I noticed. This isn't so much a reflection of the gym, but more of the gym goers which I'm sure they'll learn with time. That being said, I've really enjoyed climbing here! I love the staff and the setting is interesting. I will definitely be coming back here in the future!
