Great coaches there, an amazing space to train just like the show American Ninja Warrior. Beginner friendly, all the way to advanced moves

We met at Baked Melissa on 42nd street. The guide gave us instructions. I was late so I did not hear the instructions. The goal of the race is to find items on a list (movie poster, triplets, slide, dog with clothes, flag, big clock, guy with mets cap, bus driver), 3 out of 6 pictures (daily news globe, muppets at fab schwartz , apple at hudson river park etc) and a find of (12 different flowers or 6 different vendors that sell meet). In addition, for extra point, you had to check in with the guide at times square and if you choose to perform a specific task. The event was tiring. We had to run towards the end of the race to get everything. My team won of course. However, given that we paid $35 for the race. I expected more like water to be provided, nutrional snacks a the end of the race, some sort of metrocard for public transportation and better prize (i got a plastic medal and t-shirt).

All in all a fun day, took us all over the city to places we'd never been. Also exposed me to the bus system which I've rarely taken.. pretty reliable & runs regularly (should I be yelping the metro system..?). Pretty well organized. We got plenty of e-mails beforehand letting us know how we should prepare (though they were a little ambiguous on the metro day pass- were they providing it or did we have to buy it? Good thing we bought ours just in case). On they day of they ran pretty smoothly, although registration was a bit of a bottleneck with one person doing each task (sign in, name tags, handing out paperwork). There were lots of staff though and they were all really friendly and seemed to really enjoy running the event, which made us enjoy it more. At then end they came around and scored our pictures by going through them with us (liked that - so we could make sure we got credit for all the items we found), and had us load our pictures on a computer being projected so we saw a slideshow with everyone's photos as they were scoring. Funny to see how creative some people were. Would've been nice to have a little bit of food at the start or at the end - annoying that we were basically expected to stick around and order Dave & Busters food since that was the start/end location. It's ok, we just ordered a small appetizer (as we were STARVING) and went off to a restaurant actually worth our time for dinner.

I don't really like how they nickel and dime you with $5 day-of registration (especially if this center is very far off and inconvenient to pick up the day before). Definitely add extra time traveling here, if you don't travel by car, because it's in a pretty remote area. Overall, the race was exactly as I expected. It wasn't particularly challenging or crazy amounts of fun. There were 12 obstacles dispersed throughout the 5k, and many people walked (so don't worry to those who don't like running). Some of the obstacles were very lame, some of them were interesting. I definitely wouldn't do this again, but I don't entirely regret it. Don't buy this regularly; buy it on Groupon/LivingSocial!

Not a good race…read more That being said, it's not the fault of the Wipeout Run organization, but the rules of NYC. I've done a number of races at Brooklyn Aviator. They were all pretty terrible. One example is Rugged Maniac. Due to NYC regulations, RM doesn't set up the barbed wire, fire obstacles or have any legit mud pits. If you run a RM anywhere else, you will have a PHENOMENAL race. At Brooklyn Aviator? Skip it. I ran the ROC race (former name of Wipeout run) last year. Last year, we had all the obstacles. This year, under Wipeout, 3 obstacles were missing from the course: Monkey Business, Bubble Bash Swing, and Dope on a Rope. The terrain at Brooklyn Aviator is awful. They place all obstacles on an old airplane tarmac. It's 100% flat asphalt. And due to them missing three obstacles, there were only 9 scattered throughout 3.1 miles of asphalt. The majority of the time you're just running/jogging/walking through dead zones on cement. For anyone curious, it's not a challenging obstacle race. It's more for fun and wearing ridiculous outfits. No "obstacle" at the Aviator race is made to challenge your body in any way. Majority are just water slides, and glorified bouncy houses. I would be curious to see what a legit Wipeout Run looks like, but this really isn't a race I'd travel out of state to complete.

And working hard requires no talent. *Follow the TM circuit guide listed on their site *Start practicing running (HILLS) that is-every location they pick, is an area with Mountain terrain and dirt hills (10 miles of up & down) *If you don't know how to swim, do not do the swimming obstacles. LOL *Buy GU-It will give you an extra boost, and Carb up two days before. *Do not buy new running/trail shoes-your going to end up donating them to TM, most people did. *TM is a mental Challenge, come with your game face on & be a beast while your at it!!! *Majority of the obstacles were all core, and upper body *All about Comradery! everyone was so helpful-Make sure you have tall people and men on your team! without them, we wouldn't have survived LOL At the end, Bragging rights!! totally priceless!!

(On Father's Day, no less. When I was hoping I could keep up with my kids and at least finish the "advanced elevation" course.) That being said... we had an absolute blast. (Myself and the Mrs. were beaten and bruised and battered and sore afterwards, but we loved it.) The weather wasn't ideal (cold and rainy) but I think that was a blessing in disguise. The workers and guides were all incredible. (They were all supportive, friendly, and passionate about the adventure we were about to jump into.) Each course got a wee bit higher and more challenging and within the actual course I appreciated their 'method to the madness' - they'd break up the taxing (physical) stuff with a zipline as a 'breather' before you had to start to hustle again on some crazy shifting logs or cargo netting. As someone with a bit of experience over the years (ziplining at Hunter Mountain, Ausable Chasm in the Adirondacks, TreeEscape at Mt. Creek) FLG X was by far the most exacting. (But take that with a grain of salt... if you're not in the AARP age range - like myself - you might have a blast and be able to reach the Black Course, including those daunting monkey bars!) Worth every penny, for sure. (Pro tip: make sure you bring or buy a pair of rugged gloves... they're essential.) "GUIDE! GUIDE! GUIDE!"

Im also horrified of heights but i was determined I went through a brief video about the corse and some safety. The young lady from the desk gave a excellent training on safety and proper use of the equipment Then my wife and i was introduced to Matthew our guide Matthew explained everything step by step as we went along My wife had plenty of experience and with Matthew we felt safe for myself and my wife I took my time climbing the latter and Matthew assured me i secured and safe He really gained my trust . I had to take my time and rest for two to five min at a time and Matthew really gave me the confidence i needed to continue Im 60 years old i not old but iam a little broken lol I was a little dehydrated i needed water i thought i was in trouble but no Matthew asked one of the other highly trained staff to get me a bottle of water After that i zipped a few times with no issues i was doing really good. But my arms were going dull because of some prior injuries Matthew helped go down the ladder and i was ok Matthew is a very calm individual professional who knows what he is doing you can tell he had the best training. He really made my experience great I have to add it wasn't very busy so thank god The staff is excellent and these young men and women run a tight ship safety is their priority and second is for their guest to enjoy themselves. The zip line course is great for any level my wife said this was the best one yet and she has been to many. If i can do it i think most people can to Use common sense, listen to the guides they are there for you I cant ever do this ever again because of my injuries of a bad accident i had in 2011 but this was on my bucket list I always wanted to scuba dive but that dream is only a dream But i got to zip line and at no point at all i wasn't in any kind of danger Thank you Matthew for doing your job above and beyond of any on my expectations The harness and the clips and all the safety equipment are the best . You have to listen to the guides have common courtesy and have patience and use the equipment properly and pay attention to what you are doing Its not all to difficult trust me im not to bright and i had a great time Matthew you are a true champ and you will succeed anything you do. I will be for ever grateful i will be recommending this FLG X to everyone. One more important thing thank you so much for making sure my wife and the rest of the quests are safe and everyone was enjoying themselves Great corse also. The corse and zip line are the best its a must try All the staff are professionals and they all will keep you safe Thank you guys so much forever grateful for the experience CHEF RAMOS
