They kept an entire 3900 dollar deposit and have never returned even a cent of it. This doesn't include the 300 dollar application fee that I swallowed. This feels unjust and honestly, a bit cruel. I recognize deposits are important but I even worked hard to ensure that the class my daughter was supposed to be in was filled, which it was. It's not like I hurt their program in ANY way. At this point, it just feels like theft? My daughter has never once stepped foot in JCC.

They rent the space from a 3rd party and an Army base I think. So most activities are far apart and there are no indoor bathrooms so the kids change in tents or portable potty. The water play area is constantly dirty and never cleaned out. My daughter told me it's usually very muddy and a lot of kids didn't even want to go in. Lots of equipments were broken down and never fixed either so by mid-summer, half the activities listed on their schedule was out of commission. Since this is an affordable summer camp they also have a lot of kids enrolled which meant it was very crowded so know what you're getting into. They don't provide lunch or snacks so you will have to pack it everyday. The counselors are mostly college kids working the summer which is fine but also depends on who you get in your group. According to my daughter, some are great and some are not so great like yelling at the kids. Also, watch out for their so-call refundable deposit. The camp manager called me in Dec 2022 and asked if I planned to enroll my daughter this summer. I told her we were still working out scheduling and wasn't sure when/if we would sign up. She told me on the phone that I could cancel and get my deposit back before May so it would be good to just enroll now to hold her spot, which I did. When I called beginning of April they told me that's for the whole amount not for the deposit. I find this very deceiving and left a bad taste. I would not recommend this camp.

They truly understand and support each child as an individual, and it shows in how confident, curious and happy the students are. As a family-run school now in its second generation, Midwood Montessori has a strong sense of community. The mixed-age classrooms encourage kids to learn from each other and grow at their own pace, in an environment rooted in kindness and respect. Our son is starting his third year (kindergarten) and we've seen tremendous growth--socially, emotionally, and academically. He loves his school, and we're excited for our daughter to join next year. Midwood Montessori provides a strong foundation, and it's easy to see why families stay through kindergarten. The children graduate as independent learners and leaders, well prepared to enter a wide range of public and independent schools.
