I had went on a class trip today. The bathroom was very unsanitary to say the least. Furthermore the pizza that the children ate was not cooked well enough. I took my students on a class trip to Green Apron Kitchen for the pizza making class. Wonderful place!! Fabiana, who was working with my class that day, was so kind and supportive. The bus for our trip was late in picking up my class, and due to traffic (coming from all the way up in the Bronx), we were an hour late. Anyone else would have sent us back, but Fabiana was so compassionate and understanding and worked with us and made the experience magical, even after the stress of getting there. I cannot recommend this place enough--the students had fun, and you can tell that Green Apron Kitchen really cares about the students having a fun and educational experience. Sent my son here for a one day cooking session from 9-3 during spring break. A great concept and wished we had something closer to where I live. I did pick up only but from what I saw, the instructor/owner was cold. Did not acknowledge me when unlocking the door for pickup, just to a dad that I guess sends his kid more often. But whatever I'm just a stranger sitting in the waiting area while she disappears. Anyway my son said he made crepes, pasta (with dough already made) and sauce and cupcakes which I had a taste and it tastes (cupcakes and frosting) straight out of the box. They're there six hours, so I would expect they would make more of an effort to teach them some cooking skills. It seems like the three easiest thing and cheapest things they could've made. Then I come back because we forgot something. My son goes in. I'm outside with this teacher. Again no acknowledgement from this lady but she's saying have a great day and safe drive to a dad thats already driving away in the car while I'm standing right next to her. He can't even hear you! She's making such an effort talking to this dad it's kind of funny. Then I ask my son who he was working with in class and he said all the Asian kids. Shocker. Maybe it's because I'm not a dad, or the fact that I'm Chinese but I will definitely not be back. read more

Unfortunately my students had a horrible experience. Establishment stated that 15 participants had to come in order for us to have this trip. As an educator, I cannot guarantee how many students would go until the day of. i explained this to them as well as if some students are absent the day of , our paraprofessionals would be more than happy to join in on the experience ( no response back from that email.) They day of the trip comes, the instructor (did not even provide her name to us) did not engage the kids one bit, to the point where we had to play music from our phones to entertain the students. They burnt the students pizza which was ridiculous. They also ended up charging us for the students who didnt show up, which is fine, but when asked if the adults can take their spots (and they were willing to pay as well) they refused and said it doesn't work like that and that they ended up wasting food. Great neighborhood place for kids! My daughter has attended the cooking academy, summer camps, drop in classes, virtual classes, and parties. It's ALWAYS a great time. The kids make food from scratch and the menu is always versatile and fun. During full day classes and camps, they play just dance and other games while waiting for the food to cook. We Attended the Mommy and Me Halloween cupcake class today and it left a lot to be imagined.... Only giving one star because My son and my friends daughter had an okay time. 1. When we got there, there was no one at the front to greet us, just a hoard of pre teens (who were there for the class)... 2. This was advertised as a Mommy and Me class, except there were 5 teenagers celebrating a birthday at the same time... weird and also caused there to not be enough room for everyone, I didn't sit the entire time, because not enough chairs and we were told we would each make chocolate and vanilla batter but there wasn't enough so we had to share... 3. Although the girls hosting (could not of been more than like 17 or 18) were sweet, they were disorganized and not totally in control of what was going on. 4. There was a small intermission, while they cleaned, where they put music on for the kids to dance, but because the 5 teens celebrating the birthday were so loud and took over pretty much the whole room, the little kids didn't want to dance or even move they just stood on the outskirts as those kids danced and like screamed along with the music...again this was advertised as a mommy and me class. 5. The photos they used to advertise the cupcakes were polar opposite of what we made...I thought we were gunna make something new and fun but we didn't even get to roll out the fondant for little decorations..again only the teenagers were given that roll to do. The only decoration the kids were able to make were to color cardboard tombstone cut outs. 6. When we left they gave everybody a plastic halloween cup full of candy and an orange decorated like a pumpkin but there wasn't enough so my son gave his to my friends daughter and then was upset the whole ride home because he also wanted one. 7. To top it all off...the cupcakes tasted terrible the buttercream just tasted like straight butter and when we left they gave us a computer print out of a recipe for vanilla cupcakes and while reading it, it dawned on me that they forgot to add the eggs in the batter. The cupcakes were hard as rocks. For the price it was not worth it at all and if this was a reflection of how other classes are I would never go back... to be completely honest I want my money back, it was pretty amateur and not at all how it was advertised, I feel like I got ripped off big time. Save yourself the trip and make boxed cupcakes at home, they will taste better. read more

The Green Apron Kitchen helped organize and produce a fantastic (and most delicious) party for our 9 year old recently! And, we'll be back with the kids for their pasta making classes. The kitchen is clean, run orderly, and has space for kids to sit apart (if needed). The chef and her team were clear with cooking instructions and explained how ingredients work together. Our kids made pizza and cupcakes; and danced in between on a dance floor (separate and adjacent to the kitchen). Also, the parents were provided their own space in a separate lounge with tea/coffee and pizza. The chef/owner is wonderful and patient with the kids (and adults). If you want to support a local business and/or want a place for your next party, look no further! The party can be for kids or adults! read more

Update: they answer my one star comment on Google, but not my email, so guys, you see, what "great" customer service they have, they put up the original copy of my email there, not sure if should I sue them for leaking my privacy? lol, well, I let them this time, don't want to waste my time on this sh*ty thing. Moreover, they try to make me like to I force them to lie to the IRS, they dont want to commit to fraud as they are not a child card center! as a professional accountant, I can tell you, in order for taxpayers to claim the child care expense, it's required (1) is the service provided to have your dependent to be safe and well-being and that allows you to go to work, (2) provider must provide their SSN or EIN, (3) your dependent must have US legal identification. And even though the provider refused to provide you their tax ID, you can still claim that by showing the IRS your due diligence to obtain proper documentation, this is why I post this negative comment now, because even though I'm not happy with their service, but they did provide some basic service to take care my child for me to go to work on Election Day, so I'm trying to a nice folk. however, my patience didn't result in positive feedback, lol, it's still no feedback from them, through email, lol. And now you are very welcome to have my FREE tax advice, and to any parents as their potential clients, go Google, search IRS publication 503, and see pages 9 - 10, nothing there mentioned the provider has to be registered as a childcare center, because it's called "Dependent Care Expense", which sometimes ppl claim their parents, disabled sibling as their dependent, so what, you send your elder parent to the "childcare center", lol. Moreover, their answer is hidden in one important piece, they told me they used to provide documentation for parents to claim from flexible spending account, which is the same rule, whether you claim the expense through the tax credit or employer-provided flexible spending accounts, it's based on same tax law / IRS guideline, so committed to fraud? they did already if you think their answer is right, lol. so to all parents who haven't picked this "cooking school", again, you and your family deserve better than this place . Lastly to Green Apron Kitchen, you are very welcome for my one star, and you learned your lesson that you try to fool the wrong person. First, I have to say it only deserves zero or half star, well, the Google system doesn't offer that option =( this place gives false advertisements, and they offer no opportunity for my kid to do any cooking, so unless you want to pay over $100 for your kid just play the silly game Just Dance there, well, then I have no comment for that. So my kid learns nothing about cooking from there, and they have no customer service at all. Before I booked our first camp, I called them and confirmed with them several times, asking if they will provide me documentation for me to claim this childcare expense, they said they will provide whatever Information I need while I completed the camp registration, however, when I asked for the receipt document after the camp ends, they said I will need to get those through email, and then they have no response to any of my emails afterward!!!!! So I sincerely suggest you don't send your kid here, there are plenty of great places that provide kids cooking programs, but definitely not this one! My daughter had an Iron Chef 10th birthday party at Green Apron Kitchen and it was amazing. I couldn't get over the things they made including, chicken wings. chicken fingers, (from raw chicken) also jambalaya, mashed potatoes and french fries from scratch. They also made amazing desserts including pies, crumbles, and crepes. It was a large party with 20 kids and they all LOVED it. The staff, especially the chef did an amazing job keeping the children busy and happy. The kitchen is beautiful, the lounge area is also beautiful and very comfortable. The entire place is very clean. My guests kept asking how I found such a great place. No one had ever been to a cooking party before and they were all very impressed with the high quality of every aspect of Green Apron. My daughter celebrated her 10th Birthday at Green Apron Kitchen about 2 weeks ago. The only reason I am giving them a one is because I think the kids enjoyed the cooking. Now, I have 3 kids and have had many different types of birthday parties, this was the most disappointing. The venue was hot and uncomfortable. There were a bunch of teenagers, basically running the show. Which they did not do a good job at. When the host was giving a list of what the children would be making, she failed to mention the lemonade which was included in the Ultimate Package chosen by my daughter. I was asked the young lady on whether they would be making lemonade and she stated yes. The kids did not make any lemonade. A couple of the kids complained to me regarding the fact that they were given tap water to drink....water that was physically taken from the tap. Although there was a water cooler in the lounge. The amount of kids that were expected to attend were 16. However 2 were unable to. Of course, I was still charged for 16 kids, which is fine. However, I do think I should have been given 16 gift bags and not fourteen. When I spoke to the owner about this the next day, prior to making a payment, she was very rude and obnoxious. First she said that her staff stated that they counted the bags twice and all 16 were there. Then after discussing, she stated that she counted the bags herself the day before. Which I knew was not true because we observed some of the bags being made right before the party. The food was tasteless!! Cupcakes were wet and the icing tasted like butter with food coloring. Thank goodness I brought a cake. I ordered food for the parents, from a vendor that they use, which was fine. The owner Maya, stated coffee and tea will be provided. The coffee was horrible. I think it might have been there from previous parties! I would strongly advise against having a party at Green Apron Kitchen. Not worth the $1,731!!!! read more

Professionalism, professionalism, and professionalism. The customer should always be handled professionally and with grace. The person who sets up the event and takes care of the transactions is not who you meet on the day of the party. The girls on the day of the event, who are with the children are very sweet and engaging, I must say the children had a great time. The condition of the place is not at all what I expected, I would not recommend booking without a walk through first. There wasn't another party going on before our party that day, at the start of the party it appeared as if everything was left over from the day's prior events. The bathroom was not clean, the trash can was overflowing, the tables were not clean. There were very few supplies in the adult lounge, milk sitting out for coffee, etc. As far as customer service goes, very poor, not receptive to feedback. For what you're paying, the condition of the place, cleanliness, and customer service should be top tier. Would not recommend for any further event. read more

It's very rare to find a place to exceed your expectations. This facility is extremely clean and creative. It's clear that the owner has kids because its programs are great and have working parents in mind. I had somewhat of reservations doing a 7th birthday party here because my kids are all of different ages, but everyone loved it. I think this is a great concept and it's great to offer cooking classes for kids. My only problem was that both times I sent my kid, once alone and once with his cousins, they came back with their creations, and everything was partially raw. The first time I booked the doughnuts class and all the dough was still raw in the middle and partially cooked on the outside. The second time the pizza dough was raw, throughout the slice and especially the crust. For the amount of money charged per class and if you want to teach some technique to the kids, give it a bit more time to ensure that the items are properly cooked through so that there are no bellyaches afterwards. read more

I rarely write every write any reviews no less a negative one however, I feel COMPELLED to write one here to deter EVEN ONE PERSON from incurring the headache that Green Apron kitchen is! Recently a gift certificate was given to a friend; who is currently pregnant. This friend tried to use the gift certificate; however is unable to do so. Being excited for this gift, as an existing customer, this friend right away called Green Apron and tried to use this certificate toward the "camp". Green Apron Kitchen refused! They stating this certificate only applies to "classes". This friend explained the situation.......that we currently do not use classes for conflicting schedules, we are currently happy customers and WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE SO, the certificate is already paid for, it was given as a gift, and she is currently pregnant so cannot change around schedules........and asked the company to meet her HALF way. Meaning use half the certificate toward current services and the other half toward classes at a later time; and they REFUSED! They should be ASHAMED of themselves to say no!!! I hope people do think twice about working with such an unwilling-to-work-with company. read more

First experience here proved disappointing. They were ill-prepared to handle children or disputes and not patient at all. The class was described as having a maximum of 10 students. They overbooked and had 16! Clearly they were overwhelmed and incapable of handling a situation should it arise and it did. These things happen with children (especially to a new environment) but they were dismissive instead of helpful and demanded my two children to be removed from the class long before the class was over. They don't have policies or protocols. They don't even post information about food allergies. There are better places than this with far better instruction, menus and staff. read more

We just returned with my 10 year old son from a southern cooking class (3 hours) and I feel compelled to write a review and warn others regarding expectations. Our son has a real interest in cooking and was so upset. Apparently, this place is nothing more than yet another drop off diversion...childcare, really...masquerading as a cooking school. He said they (and "they" were mostly uninterested 7 and 8 year olds) cooked nothing, just mixed a few ingredients, grated cheese, and then watched as the staff prepared them a meal. He told us it was "chaotic" and nothing about the cooking was explained to them at all. There were even video games ("Just Dance," specifically) that kids played while the "class" was going on. He came home with only a rather sad looking excuse for chocolate pie...no recipes at all...which as anyone who has taken any cooking class ANYWHERE knows is kinda the point of taking the class. He mentioned a lot of kids there knew each other and were comfortable with this whole arrangement. Apparently, this is business as usual and hard to tell if this is the case because of the clientele or the staff. If you are looking for people to safely watch and feed your kids for three hours for $75, then this is your place. If you are looking for an actual cooking class for children, look elsewhere. read more

My children absolutely love this place. They've been to several cooking classes over the past year and have been very happy with all of them, so they really wanted to attend the baking summer camp. The camp exceeded all expectations, they are still raving about it as the best camp they've ever attended. Each day they baked several different items from scratch. Took my 7 year old niece to a class here for the first time. She baked two types of cupcakes and even made frosting, all from scratch! I couldn't believe how engrossed she was in the class, made new friends and how the time flew. The staff was very experienced and kept the kids' attention and made sure they were engrossed in the activity the whole time. I sent my kids here for the mini camp during winter break and I cannot praise the place enough. Not only did the kids make several things from scratch but they played games, painted and made friends with the other kids. The staff is extremely nice. We just loved this place. I've been to this place with my daughter some time ago for a birthday party, even though kids had fun, i felt like it need some improvement ( adults were changing their plates, no forks , no help with serving the food and packing leftovers after all is done), staff looked like they came in home clothes, some of them with hair down, in the cooking area etc. Couple of days ago my kids were invited to a birthday party to a Green Apron Kitchen and i was really surprised by all the changes, staff girls looked nice and polished in white teeshirts and black pants with green aprons, nice hair buns ( no hair down anymore). For two hour that we spend there kids were busy with cooking individual pizza from scratch and some cookies, dancing, playing games. I forgot to mention that this time, some staff girl helped with serving a food, changing plates and so on. Also, i found that this place is under new ownership and under the pressure after the party that we attend i decided to have a birthday party for my daughter. I spoke to the owners and scheduled the day and what a pleasure to see how well people know what they doing! They provide me with the contract where they wrote every detail about my scheduled party.
