My questions are always met with nasty comments and dirty looks. The sales associates watched me struggle to hold all of my things without asking if I could use a basket. I've never felt more unwanted in a store than I did there. If you are looking to start a new crafting hobby and are looking for some like minded people-don't go there. I was extremely discouraged I will be commuting far from my apartment to avoid this establishment

They did their best to help, and I followed them around to look through different shelves of fabric. They remarked that they used to carry the fabric, but no longer have it in stock since it's a discontinued fabric. I really appreciated them doing their best to help, though! Great customer service.

I really missed that and wanted to find something similar to connect in Brooklyn--this is it. I went in one day to check it out and was back the next for hours, talking and working on my project. The owner was so friendly and helpful. The girl that was working in the shop helped me with beeding and picking out colors. The owner offered me classes for 30 dollars one-on-one to help me with my next project, which is a steal of a price for her expertise. I also got ALOT of stuff high quality that amounted to only 23 dollars! I am so happy that I found this place I can't wait to go back. P.S. Summer and winter hours are different, so make sure you call ahead before you go.

Pricing is mostly as expected, you will pay a few dollars extra per yard as opposed to some of the discount fabric stores. Personally, spending the few extra bucks at B&J is always worth the trade-off because of the smooth and well-designed experience in the store. They stock high-quality materials and I have never been disappointed in something I've purchased. This store goes the extra mile and will provide you with up to (I believe) 15 free samples per visit. Their inventory is extremely well-managed and they put a bar code/ID sticker on each fabric sample they give you. This way, the process is extremely fast when going back to the store to make purchases. The employees can simply scan the sticker from any of the samples and cut you a piece to length. The whole process seldom takes more than 5 minutes once you have decided what you want. This beats the discount stores 10/10 times in my book, because I save so much time that it warrants the slightly higher price. I have not written any reviews for fabric stores because, frankly, my experience has been nearly identical at all of them EXCEPT for B&J. Along with my fabric purchases, I was looking for bag/backpack hardware today which they do not really carry. One of the employees (did not get her name) was kind enough to hand me a printed list of other stores and recommend a couple that would have what I was looking for. She was absolutely spot on, and I got everything else I needed from the other store. I really appreciated the tip, I have not had a comparable experience or been given this level of attention/help at any other fabric shop in NYC.

All fabric clearly fresh and new, not from a poorly managed warehouse, but obviously from a neat and orderly business. Thanks y'all! I'm in SC and found you online. I used to live in NJ and Staten Island. Some NYC fabric stores don't have adequate websites, but yours is not only adequate, but excellent! The only thing I would add is: care instructions on each product page. I am mystified as to how to launder the cotton guipure lace I purchased, and I conclude that I will do dry clean only to stay way on the safe side. Thanks again!

I noticed him stepping on my fabric as he was cutting it, so I inspected it for stains afterward. I noticed some other stains on the fabric and showed it to him, he raised his voice and said "that is your responsibility". Interesting to me how the customer is the one responsible to make sure the fabric does not have stains. But if that is the case, then at least tell me before you cut it and I'll gladly check to make sure. There were no signs about that policy and I don't read minds. After he raised his voice, he walked away even though he was supposed to cut another fabric for me. The lack of customer service really ruined the experience for me, I am not going back.
