PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING HERE: In an age where you want to support black-businesses, it's unfortunate to report that I highly discourage anyone from supporting this business. We had a scheduled pick-up today, however we found ourselves waiting hours (2 hours to be exact) before receiving the items scheduled for purchase. After the hours of waiting, we were met with no apology for the inconvenience, no customer service to mend the broken trust, and lackluster products (so I believe). It is typical in some African cultures for men to not treat women with respect, it is clear that the owner, Abadu, subscribes by the notion that men are superior. I say this to say, in my attempt to express disdain after enduring hours of his unwelcoming business practices, he instructed me that he doesn't speak to women. Review for the clothing/fabric part of the store only. So lovely. I needed fabric for a head scarf for costume purposes, and got lost in all the lovely fabric choices here. Thank god I had a rough guideline of the type and colors I needed otherwise I would have been completely lost given all the beautiful options in the store. And the prices are SO fair. I really want to make a qi pao with some of the fabrics in there. It would be so awesome. I love their already-made outfits too. The gentleman who helped me was the sweetest. Very welcoming atmosphere when I went in and let me browse as I pleased. He knew the stock inside and out and offered to help me with having the fabric cut and sewn. If you don't know, they do at least tailor in the store. I'm sure they even make clothing there as he was helping customers with custom outfits. I highly recommend the store if you're looking for African clothing, or just looking for some beautiful, unique fabrics. read more

I came here looking for African clothing. I opened the door and the woman glared at me. I noticed that it was dark so I asked if the store was closed to which she responded, "I'm just getting in." I wasn't sure what that meant, so I backed out. The woman asked what I was looking for and when I told her, she said. That the owner was not in. Again, I had no idea why that information was relevant, so I asked if that meant she couldn't sell clothes. She said no because she doesn't know the prices. What the heck?? Why do you have a store where only one person is authorized to make a sale? Why are you even open? What's the point? This setup makes no sense and the greeter is unwelcoming and almost hostile. Don't waste your time here. I'd say don't waste your money, but since you can't make purchases, there is no risk of that. read more

There is probably 3 different companies (oils are being sold at the front, African clothing in the middle and a hair salon in the back) in this one large room/store. I had to get an African piece to attach to my dress for a banquet that I'm attending to. This guy name Amadou seems to be the ONLY person working with the African fabric. He's very nice and welcoming but VERY SLOW. He takes his time. Sometimes he leaves the location to run errands and will be gone for hours at a time. No one else in the store is knowledgeable with this side of the business. I've seen people wait for hours on this man which I think is very unprofessional. He literally seems to be on his own schedule. My advice to him is please get more workers in your store! It is ridiculous that he is the only one that can help. The pricing seems decent. So that's a plus! And he delivers on his work if he is making something for you. But it's not enough for me to give him more than 1 star After this event, I will never come here again and I would never refer anyone to come here! read more

This is to let everyone know how rude , ultimately rude and very wrong Ahmedu was to me today regarding fixing my traditional dress. - I'm a customer and he mistreated me by - being absent from the store (running other errands), not respecting my time on my appointment date (he told me to come same time when I called a day before to try or pick my dress ) - by not being truthful , he came late and go straight down stairs and STARTED working on my dress (1)without at least telling me the truth "sorry I don't have it ready come back or wait" but try to fix my expensive beautiful traditional dress from Africa while I'm siting and wondering at the shop. He shouldn't try to just fix my dress heartlessly in a rush. (2) After 20 min of waiting (wrong of me to wait that long) I understood that he is trying to fix it as I wait. (Very wrong ) so I told his wife and a kid to go downstairs and tell him that I don't want my dress fixed but get it back as is. He then came back and told me that he doesn't want to work on my dress, REALLY?... I DO NOT want him to fix (even touch) my dress anymore. (3) He told me that he had opend up my dress on the sides and he closed it back, had ripped the zipper (didn't put it back) , left half of the dress inside out and put it in plastic bag and give me. My dress doesn't deserve this treatment either it looks all wrinkled and looses its grace. I'm very upset. I was telling his wife before he arrived that I'm upset because he didn't respect my time asking why we Africans don't respect time and we don't treat each other better. I don't know what she told him that I said , he told me that I can't scream in his store for $20 work, really???? She screamed too telling me he is not inside but to wait so she will try to help.... (You don't scream at customers) I have all the reasons to be angry ...whenever a wife is involved to a man's business, he would listen to her NO MATTER what she said even if she is wrong anyways. Plus $20 work? (It was $25 anyways ) but that $20 is paying shit and I KNOW he needs it more than I do. I really don't want this to happen to others. Don't go to his store unless you want a heartburn and a headache . Does NOT worth it. He is not truthful and loyal for customers. What a business! I don't know why we Africans Treat each other like this. The lady who came after me said she gave her dress a month ago and she still didn't get it back, but she was told several times to come back. Again today, I heard the wife told her to come back next week. The lady said she had to buy another dress for her party because Amedu still didn't get her dress ready. Very Unfair !!!!
