Meg is a place where you can find clothing that's unique and well made. The staff is very helpful. I went in not expecting to find a dress for a spring wedding. I ended up with an eye-catching, teal dress that is modern in design and flattering and quite reasonably priced with gorgeous earrings to match. The jewelry selection is great. I loved this boutique! The gal working there was super nice and a great saleswoman not the pushy kind but the kind that's like "Don't be shy you'll fit into the small! Try it on!" I liked that she was more of a shopping facilitator than sales girl, you know? Like shopping with a trusted friend that will tell you what's worth buying and what isn't that cute on you. Damn, I wish I could remember her name...maybe Sarah? I ended up buying an amazing pair of earrings that I've gotten so many compliments on and enjoy telling them with an air of importance that they came from a boutique in New York. I recently got married at City Hall in NYC and bought my wedding dress at Meg and had such a special experience both buying it and wearing it to my wedding. Lucy was amazingly kind and helpful at the store on Atlantic where I bought the dress (I actually bought three dresses that day!) and the warmth of all the ladies in the store made buying a dress for my special day that much more special. A few of my favorite pieces are from Meg: a blouse that resembles a caftan, an A-line blush dress I wear to work events, and a cinched-waist winter white skirt. If you like unique clothes that hang away from the body, but still have lots of shape and sex appeal, you may love Meg's designs. I also want to commend the entire staff for exceptional customer service. I recently bought a silky, teal dress there for a Memorial Day wedding. It was too large in the shoulders, so the team recommended alterations, which were included in the price. When the dress came back from the seamstress, it was too short and tight around the hips to be wearable. Well, they started the alterations over on a brand new dress, at no additional cost to me. I bought both my bridal shower dress and rehearsal dinner dress here and they did free alterations with my first purchase. I can't say enough great things about this store or the people who work there. Their clothes are the most versatile I own, machine washable and so easy to dress up or down. The women who work there are legitimately friendly, real-life friendly, not the all too common fake-ish "you just walked into my store" friendly - I always leave feeling like I've just been shopping with a friend. Except everyone there is also an expert on the line, they all speak so fully about the clothes any one of them could pass for the actual designer. And they also provide tailoring, which all the employees are also experts at- almost magically they will pin you into an article and show you a fit you didn't even know you were missing. And I think all of them must have stylist experience because they are really smart about ways to wear different things and what is best on what body type. Recently I've had a bunch of fancy pants events to attend and Meg is my go-to every time. Their clothes work on a lot of levels, so I can wear something to a black tie event and still feel completely like myself and wear it again and again in non-red-carpet life, which is where I obviously wear most of my clothes. (I got a few two piece numbers for evening events and wear the tops with jeans all the time) I used to get very frustrated dressing for events or dinners but not anymore. Everything I've ever bought there has felt like a staple and an investment, but is also something I can throw the right shoes on with and feel totally fine next to someone in gucci or whatever. And every time I've ever popped in has felt like an experience more than an errand. I really can't recommend it enough. read more
