I came here today with my young daughter and as I was entering the woman (whom I presume was the owner ) stopped me and said they were closing (it was only 5pm but online it says they close at 6) nonetheless she let me in, before I could reach any material she said hurry up we're closing. I said ok I just need some ribbon then a man standing behind the counter said hurry up we're closing as I continued to look at the different ribbons and he cut one for me then stormed off in frustration because I couldn't decide between to colors the women then came and cut another ribbon for me. The man then came back telling me I had to leave because "they" were waiting for them and they have to go as I asked for just a few more minutes he cursed me out and told me to leave and the woman co-signing says to him this is why we shouldn't let people in. I highly recommend that no one shops here. They do not caring about their customers and are extremely rude and disrespectful. read more

I've been coming to this store since it was located on Broadway. The owners are so kind, and they know their business. I got some baby shower ribbons made for giveaway bags as well as the chair, and I couldn't have been happier with their service and professionalism. As my crafting journey has evolved, they were a big part of my start, always suggesting things that would take my crochet art to the next level. They always have a great supply of items and all prices are justified. I'm so glad to have them in my neighborhood. They helped me match yarns and pick the perfect fabrics for projects. They also connected with me via chat when I was looking for supplies but wasn't in the area. They are so helpful I'll never stop going here. read more

Ive been shopping at Lester's for a long time, years ago when they were locate directly on Broadway with a much larger space. Though there is a smaller space and less selection, there is a certain level of eclectic charm in the items they do carry. I am always fortunate in finding some really nice African prints unique to this store. They have a lot of pattern, notions and trims as well at a pretty good price. It would be great to get more information on their actual hours. Today is Monday & on yelp it says they're open until 7 however the door are locked shut , they aren't answering the phone nor do they have an answering machine that can be utilized to give details on their hours of operation. Fantastic little shop that saved me a trip to Manhattan. Widest selection? No, it's a modest shop, but the owners are super nice and efficient. They had everything I needed to make some tutus. They were sweet, fast, and not at all pushy about selling more stuff. Plus they had the cheapest price for tulle $1.25 per yard for the plain colored tulle. read more

I give this place a 4 star not because it's spectacular, but because it's what we all need. Do they have a ton of options in each item?No. But their best to try and carry some of what everyone needs. from vinyl, to felt. Candles,to glitter and party supplies. They are very good at having a little of everything. So expect to find what you need in a hurry to finish up a project. But don't expect 8 different types of scissors to choose from. read more

They have the best prices on ribbon I have seen in Brooklyn and had everything I needed when others did not. They are polite and helpful and have a wide range of things to choose from. This review is solely for the yarn. I came here to buy some lion brand yarn for my quilt I am trying to complete. I walk in and see all the yarn is behind the counter which makes absolutely no sense to me. I ask her if I can go behind the counter to feel them and she says no but there is yarn on the other side of the counter. I find some yarn I could settle for and ask her for the larger ball or yarn. She hands it to me and it feels rough as sandpaper AND it's not even the same color. I tell her it is not the right one and she says it is. Really? -____- I was born AT night, not LAST night. I ask her "can you please give me the exact replica of this ball of yarn? I am buying it for the texture." She tells me that they don't have the same exact yarn on the customer side and the register side but it is almost similar. What?!?! Then why....I didn't even finish. I just said "thank you but I must shop elsewhere." What kind of sense does that make? Well anyway, don't come here if you want yarn. Plus, they're super overpriced for mediocre quality yarn. I really don't like this fabric store. I don't even know if I would call it a fabric store. It is very cheesy... a kindergarten teachers dream. The fabrics are beyond low quality and the color spectrums that are sold here are really bright and all you can find is thin low quality polyesters. I would only go here to get new singer needles or yarn needles because they sell those for cheap but everything else here is garbage. read more
