As far as I'm concerned, that's the height of hospitality. I don't understand the skinny-people-only gripe, because they told me they actually don't carry XS sizes in most items. That was a bummer when it came to a VERY CUTE TOP and a VERY EXPENSIVE COAT I might otherwise have been tempted to purchase, but I'm certainly not going to whine that they don't cater specifically to me. Anyway, I'm typing this review while wearing a sweater made of clouds and spun sugar and perfection that I purchased at Kiwi, so consider me a happy (and future repeat) customer.

I ended up getting a gold tea strainer and some gold teaspoons that I've been using nonstop for the last few days. They are good quality and make tea time a little more elevated. With her new location, Karin, the owner, now has a studio space that you can rent out by the hour or monthly(!). This is such a great addition to the neighborhood because some apartments are so small that you don't have room to do anything, so being able to rent a space by the hour is so beneficial. She has facilities for screen printing, sewing and basic studio space. On the ground level there is a store made of up artists around New York. They have things for men, women and babies. T shirts, dresses, shirts, you name it. Handmade cards are available as well. Need supplies? Karin has it! You can get almost anything you need from here. If you don't see it, you can ask, as she or her employees will know where it is, or will order it for you. I love this new space so much and can't wait to take many of the classes and workshops that are being offered!! Check out the site!!

This place is great, well stocked with equipment, and very reasonably priced for your own private office space, and the spaces themselves are larger than other places I looked before renting. Karin does a really great job running the place, she's always available at a moment's notice and always makes sure that the place is maintained and everyone has all that they need. The other artists in this space are so talented and such a pleasure to be around, so the community aspect of Better Than Jam is also a huge bonus. It's right off the L Train and super accessible, and in a hip part of Bushwick with lots of street art and good little places to grab food. I highly recommend this place, it was a really great part of my experience here in my final months in New York and I have zero complaints or regrets. I know as of this posting they've got some space available if you're looking.

Before I say anything else about this place let me just discuss this: The first thing that I noticed about Berlyn 65 is that the shop smells exquisite! The owner made sure that there is this wonderful aroma as you walk into the place that tantalizes your senses and it made me very content and experience a sense of calm energy. This shop has some real goodies! My eyes were focused on the soft, elegant chair throws! This was so very true that I had to take a picture of the luxurious gray chair throw that is on a chair near the store entrance. The throw comes in a variety of colors and they were valued at $150. The shop decor is delightful which goes with the owner's peaceful energy that I felt was exuded towards me and my coworkers as we looked around Berlyn 65. She was pleasant, kind and displayed wonderful customer service. I will make sure that I return to view all of the great selection of items that are sold at Berlyn 65!

Later that night I ran into him with mutual friends and inquired. That was the beginning of my friendship with George (S.I.P) and with the store. Upon arrival I was met by this stunning black woman wearing a huge smile and draped in an ensemble of prints and textures. Everything she was wearing were from her store and I wanted all of them- but I couldn't afford it so I bought one piece; the classic Nikki dress in yellow. That summer I wore that dress at least 10 times and every time I did, I'd get a million compliments. Debbie had a sale and ran to get more pieces namely the Audra Kimono and another Nikki dress in print. A year later, Debbie had a stall at BAM Dance Africa and I grabbed a couple more pieces. Folks would pile into the shop everyday to stop and chat with Debbie, purchase signature kimonos, dresses, tunics of the brightest, boldest prints, catch a vibe when the DJ was there on weekends or simply just to hang out. It was that neighborhood spot. We had many friends in common and so it was always fun to spot each other #martinedreaming As the store closes and Debbie transitions to the next leg of her journey; I wish her nothing but the best and know that her and this shop will continue to evoke joy whenever I see someone wearing her pieces and is reminded of how much of gem this post was.
