I passed through this shop a couple years ago and made a mental note to come back when I had more time. I finally got the chance to go on a weekend. The shop is cozy but well-decorated with several tasteful items that are perfect for a gift to yourself or a gift for a loved one. They sell coffee, tea, tea-making accessories, vintage clothing, candles, incense, etc. They also have a nail salon in the back! The staff was kind and super helpful. I ended up getting a gold tea strainer and some gold teaspoons that I've been using nonstop for the last few days. They are good quality and make tea time a little more elevated. I think I found my go-to nail salon! For years I've been going to my local nail salon and receiving rushed manicure and pedicures as well as unsanitary circumstances. This salon was the total opposite experience. My nail tech (which I believe was Reed) took her time to painstakingly do my nails. I had a 1:30 appointment, got started around 2 and left the salon at approximately 6:10 pm. It goes to you that the nail techs here take their craft very seriously. All of the nail products were brand new. The cost is a little higher than most places, however, it's worth it due to the quality of the results of your nails. It was refreshing to a nail salon where they played R&B and Hip Hop and the setting is very intimate. I will certainly be returning here for a manicure and pedicure, most likely for the "Art of the Month" option. read more

I absolutely love my manicure. I cannot recommend this salon enough. Yesterday was my first visit, after being recommended by my best friend, and certainly not my last. My appointment started on time and finished a few minutes early. They abided to social distancing standards and I felt relaxed. My manicurist was Sky. She was nice and efficient. This store is a cute part of the area, but it's just not for me. Their clothing sizes are on the small side and the price point really depends, but... if you are sensitive to fragrance I would avoid. They use a lot of incense and a lot of their beauty products are very perfume heavy, so whatever clothing you buy will smell for days. It really bothered one of my roommates and me as well so I would have to immediately wash everything. That might appeal to some people though. I got a magazine a few weeks ago and it immediately made my skin itch like crazy, I was very allergic to it. I actually can't touch it without gloves. They now do manicures, but I haven't wanted to deviate from my usual spot. And I don't think I could be inside with the fragrances for that long. This shop is truly something special. Every corner of its layout is carefully curated by the owner, presenting a mixture of Afro, vintage and unique accessories, apparel and beauty items. After being gifted a dress that was a slice of 1977 African beatnik heaven from someone absolutely in LOVE with the place, I had to peruse it for myself. In honor of the Senegalese themed Dance Africa Festival this year, I treated myself to one of their grapefruit and white lotus body oil sprays. I really wanted to love this place, but meh... My nail tech was Lee. She was absolutely rude and mean. Lee needs a class or two in customer service. She is good at what she does but her attitude leaves much to be desired. I was 30 mins late for my appt, I called to excuse myself and I apologized in person. The apology meant nothing as Lee was obviously upset and annoyed the entire appointment. She made it very clear that she was unhappy with my lateness and succeeded in making me extremely uncomfortable my entire time there. Why do my nails if you were so upset, Lee? Why not charge me a cancellation fee and let me go about my business? I expressed that my lateness was not due to disrespecting her time but I was delayed for spiritual reasons and met unexpected street closures. We were booked for 12pm to 2:50pm. I arrived at 12:28. By the time I washed my hands, checked in and sat down, and Lee settled in her chair it was 12:36. My appt was terminated by 2:30 despite me reserving her services until 2:50 pm. Lee flat out told me she would not do any designs for me because I was late, despite having ample time to do at least one design or alternating nail colors. I understand time is money but I was ready to pay for me inconveniencing her and my lateness. She blew it with her STANK ATTITUDE! I may come back but if I do, I will use a different nail tech. read more

Came in here just to kill time as I waited for my friends to head to a Roll Bounce. Immediately as I entered I loved the vibe. The air smelt off burning Palo santo sticks and good vibes and pure feels. Can you imagine that? The store was completely Zend out and was uninterrupted by the different energies that waltz in and out. Even as a few customers came in, it was as though the vibe in the store automatically refreshed itself in order not to be affected by varying energies that people usually carry around with them. I was not necessarily shopping for anything but the owner was so lovely! I love the pieces they had to offer. Those pink sweaters with photos of fishing ports in Senegal makes you want to be the eye behind the photo; capturing that moment. I was entranced by the entire aesthetic of the store, down to a burning coal station thingy towards the back. If you know what it's call please let me know. Lol I'd eventually love to come back and purchase a few cool trinkets I saw. Especially that badass electric lighter and that calming Palo santo spray room diffuser. I had Leanna as a nail tech. I came 10 mins late, and even called in advance. Once I arrived, she was still setting up the space so I didn't think it was a problem. The entire time she wasn't friendly at all! Luckily a friend met me to get her nails done as well, so it was nice to have that distraction. Terrible first-time experience! Called ahead to see if a product was in stock, was told it was being held for me. Ended up making it to the store 10 mins later than I said I would be there because of traffic caused by an accident. Got to the store and was told the last of the product was sold 10 mins ago and they didn't have my number to reach out. Wasted 40 mins and $50 coming here but it won't happen again. I had a nail appointment there this week, and I certainly won't be going back. I will start by saying I was 12 minutes late, however, I did call 3 times to notify my nail tech but she was still extremely irritated. The whole time she was doing my nails she had her headphones in and she only gave non verbal directions. For example she kept tapping me, pulling my hands, and pushing down my arms instead of communicating how to make me more comfortable while making her job easier. And I was so tense because her energy was so negative I couldn't relax my hands. It was just a very anxiety inducing experience. But I didn't complain because I still thought she was doing a great job, and was optimistic it would be ok. But when my nails were done some of the nails were crooked and the very next day one of the nails just fell off and others are lifting. I won't be paying $100 for press on nails again. read more

It is so exciting to find a vintage store that stocks amazing pieces for all body types. The store's buyer has incredible style and it permeates the entire collection and atmosphere. Each item is unique and in great condition. Be warned, it's not thrift store prices but everything is still very fairly marked (most pieces are around $30). This store is dangerously fabulous. I went it for a lipstick and walked out with a new pair of pants (while deeply coveting some hundred-dollar 3D-printed earrings). I appreciated that there were garments at various price points. Yes, I drooled over a $200 gold jumpsuit and a $300 cape, but I also admired a slew of more affordable pieces--which are also incredibly stylish and unique. One of my favorite shops ever. They have hard to find, locally made, and very unique items. I especially love the cosmetics/soaps section which are usually very reasonably priced and locally made . One of my fave things I ever bought were some essential oil blend shower drops. They make your whole apt smell amazing and do wonders for your sinuses and mood.
