This is the most amazing and affordable beautiful boutique in all of Williamsburg. The manager Sona is an absolute rockstar and has the the ability to pick up on what someone's style is exactly instantly. She is so kind, stylish, honest, and beyond hard working. I am very picky about stores and this is really the hottest spot to go to in Brooklyn to get anything from beautiful sweaters, leggings, all accessories, stunning handbags that are affordable but the quality is SO NICE. I was pleasantly surprised to see the prices in this spot. Like, it's ACTUALLY affordable. These are somewhat decent prices on really great brands. Jewelry, clothes, handbags, they've got it all! Their dressing rooms are clean and they've got plenty of racks of clothes to search through (plus a clearance rack *celebration emojis!*). The employees are attentive and friendly. I grabbed a gorgeous cocktail dress for $30 on clearance...it was a great choice and didn't destroy my wallet. This is also one place in Brooklyn that stocks the Everly brand (which is what originally drew me in). So glad they do that and so glad I stumbled into this little shop. read more

I've experienced the worse customer service ever In this store I had return to this store location to have them provide a solution to an expensive purse that I purchased(ripped, only had it for less than 3 weeks high prices high chances of it being fake fml ) they are nothing but rude rude rude I felt like I was in high school with the being behind the counter, her smart remarks really threw me off. This is a great store with a wide selection of cute dresses, accessories and jewelry. I've browsed for years, and finally bought a funky print and lace dress - tons of compliments when I wear it, and a random girl even came up to me on the subway platform to asked where I got the dress! Everything here is reasonable in price and quality - somewhere in between Forever21 and Zara. The salespeople are helpful, but not overly friendly or suffocating. The only thing I saw that seemed overpriced was a crystal headband that was similar (same brand and everything) as one I purchased at Anthropologie for less than half the price. weird experience here - came in to check it out and get some nice clothes but the price tag did not reflect the quality of the clothes so I decided to not buy them. there was an empty hanger in the dressing room when i went in initially so i left it in there when i returned my clothes. i started walking out and the woman working there chased after me accusing me of stealing because of the hanger. in honesty, i was expecting this to happen when i walked out, as well on how i look, so I should've planned ahead. i tried to convince her i didn't steal anything, even encouraging her to search me and the bag i brought in so I can get out of there. i was held up for 45 minutes waiting for her to review the cameras of every minute of my brief visit. even weirder, when i finally was released i ended up walking back past Pema again an hour later and the women found me across the street and stopped me, apologized profusely, and tried to give me a hug? she wouldn't let me walk away until i ensured her i accept her apology so i could get to where i was going. i never made a scene, yes I was frustrated, but i made it clear that I understood their paranoia but i really wanted to get on with my day because i did nothing wrong. I get it - owning a store is hard, but so much business was lost in the time i was being interrogated and embarrassed. such a waste of my time and theirs! not cool. read more

On my way to dinner, I spied with my little eye on a storefront window a beautiful light cardigan that was perfect for when I want a thin little something to wear under a coat. I crossed the street, admired it from outside for a few seconds, waltzed in the store, and waltzed out on a shopping high about an hour later. This boutique has it all -- casual tees for summer afternoons, hot little red dresses for a thrilling night out on the town, sedate and yet still a little sexy wool dresses that you can wear for business without drawing the ire of your boss and HR, and not to mention the accessories to ensure that from head to toe (hats, jewelry, and shoes) you are in sartorial bliss. Best of all, all of these pieces are affordable. Chic, high-end quality clothes at prices that I can actually afford. Usually I'm left bereft because my bank account won't allow me to have my heart's desire (I have a hard time justifying spending $200 on a top, no matter how darling it is), so I either give up on the idea of ever owning it at all or pray for dear life that it'll go on a massive 80% off sale. But at Pema, even the non-sale items are reasonably priced. The clothes are so wearable and gorgeous that I'll easily get more than my money's worth of wear from them. But they do have a sale going on right now of certain items are 30% off, which makes a sweet price even sweeter. read more

I've been coming here for years and it's been one of my favorite boutiques to shop in the Williamsburg neighborhood. Great jewelry and an excellent variety of it. Cute shoes, independent clothing and belts. A good rack of hats. And other little trinkets and scents and incense and little gift items. I would especially always come here if I was stuck for a gift idea, and the colorful tissue paper they wrap it in is so beautiful. The Tibetan salesladies were always helpful and attentive. No wonder it's always overrun by European tourists who totally dominate the dressing room and chatter excitedly and loudly in Spanish (why are they usually from Spain?). It's a cute, cute place. But I'm not sure what is happening to this store. Maybe it's going through a phase. I'd wondered if it had changed hands or something. They did expand the dressing rooms to include more, which is a good thing, but the last few times I've been in here the sales staff was not overtly helpful at all, and appeared to just be waiting for everyone to go away. The jewelry selection seems to have gotten thinner and there aren't as many cool little things to buy as gifts. The scents appear to be gone as well as most of the rings. And annoyingly, the European tourist situation appears to have gotten worse, but it's not the fault of the shop. It's just something we have to put up with our crapper economy here and everyone around the world taking advantage of it. What I thought was going to be my new go to spot turned out to be a horror. Do not shop here. First, while I shopped around, a lady working there was holding onto my selections in the fitting room, until I was ready. I then saw a girl walk out of the fitting room, wearing my selections! Since they only limited sizes/style, this really upset me and got me nervous she was going to love one of them. Thankfully the girl did not want to buy them, or this really would have turned into an issue. Just wasn't fair for either of us. Second, I was exchanging a dress and the women at the register full on accused me of wearing the dress before! She even said to a fellow co-worker, "We saw her last week. Right. It was YOU. Walking past the store with this dress on, tags sticking out, we saw you". Excuse me? I had never worn this dress before and that is noway to speak to another human being, let alone a customer. For that. I will never return to this store, and I do not recommend it. Shame, they lost a good customer. And I don't even live in the neighborhood. I traveled from NYC to come here. She was an Asian women, very rude, and if her employer reads this, I would never want her working for me. Terrible. Very disrespectful. read more

There's always a special item (specifically for you!) hiding and tucked in between their layers of unique clothing. It may take a while for you to find anything that might stick out, but that's always the joy of shopping at Pema. It really emcourages you to double browse all their sections since they're filled with a variety of designs, colors, and trends. Pema is always filled with customers even if it may seem like a slow day. The girls there are always very helpful. I personally think the pricing is pretty decent, considering that their items can't really be found in most common places (of course, boutique stores). Most importantly, it's a relaxing brisk walk from Bedford station off the L train. It's not right by the chaos of everyone getting off/on the station, and you're still able to enjoy the walk through Williamsburg before getting to the store. read more

I LOVE the clothes in Pema. Unfortunately, I can no longer afford them. When I moved to Brooklyn 2+ years ago, I used to find reasonable deals if you count $50 sweaters as reasonable. Now, sweaters and such will set you back $100+. They also carry great handbags - Hobo, Sabina, Kooba - but once again - all out of my price range :(. This store is a great find for shoes though! This jewelry selection is great. Pema is my go to place to buy affordable jewelry for friends, mothers, sisters, etc... They have something stylish for everyone. Luckily for me, it is also my fiance's go to place to buy jewelry presents for me! Sometimes they have great sales on shoes. The clothing section, in my opinion, doesn't compare to the jewelry. Iv'e bought a couple dresses here thinking, "These are great!" only to take them home and realize they are ill-fitting and I got lost in some sort of trendy clothing haze. Maybe I'm not a good shopper, but more generally, the clothing here is so trendy and the quality of the brands not consistently high that it's very likely you'll buy something expensive that will be in style for a few days. In many ways, Pema NY is like a fashion utopia. I've never been to a place that sells as many fine jewelry pieces within such a reasonable price range. You can go there on a budget and still buy a nice necklace for under $30 bucks - and it's not the kind that you can find at Forever 21. The best part is that they don't sell duplicates of their pieces. And their knit accessories...too good to be true. I've never been much of a hat person, but I came across a cute brown crochet hat there and I immediately fell in love with it. Their crochet hats definitely stand out as one of their main items at the store. As for the clothing and shoe selection - they're okay. I liked their Fresh Ink bottoms and tiny selection of Canterbury polos, but their other pieces are the kind that you could only wear once. I'm still dying to go back to Pema. I fell in love with a cute blue ring but it didn't have it in my ring size too :( Many cute things but if they can provide more than one item for small size, it'll be awesome. I found a really great dress here at a really good price. I was expecting the prices to be higher but no complaints here since the quality of the clothing still seems to be fine. They have some cute unique pieces but I think the store is probably more of a draw to jewelry lovers. There was a large selection and even though I don't wear much jewelry, I was tempted. There were also some great purses which were higher priced but you could tell the leather was of appropriate quality. They had a small selection of shoes that seemed to mainly consist of oxfords in various heel levels ...but it is Williamsburg. Cute store that's worthy of a visit when in Williamsburg. read more

My husband purchased earrings from here and the saleswoman assured him they were silver. When he gave them to me they had a patina I didn't like so he said the sales person offered to polish it up for him. So I brought it back today to have it polished and it turns out they are not silver at all! On top of that, the store will only give store credit/exchange even though she misrepresented the item. They are not special at all and look like copper and he spent $72 on them. There was nothing else I liked in the store to exchange these for so it's basically money down the drain. read more

Happened to stop in on an afternoon of boutique hopping. Quickly realized that this was one of the better options in the area. They've got multiple racks of basic wardrobe staples as well as tons of fun options, lots of rich fabrics in all different colors and patterns. Everything is pretty reasonably priced and seems to be very well-made. Apart from the assortment of unique, trendy clothes, they boasted row upon row of glittering accessories housed in glass, well-lit racks. Whether you want funky and chic to minimalist and classic, they've got a jewelry collection sure to suit everyone's needs. They've also got lots of buttery soft, luxurious handbags and warm, cozy scarves and hats. Unlike most of the other stores in the area, the staff manages to be helpful without being annoyingly so! There is nothing worse than the shop worker who follows you around while you appraise different items trying to decide if you like them or not. Luckily, they pretty much leave you alone, unless you ask for help. Definitely worth checking out when you've in Williamsburg! There are so many shops around the city featuring stylish, expensive clothing that, frankly, they all start to kind of run together. The only one that continually tempts me to open my wallet and drop a chunk of change lately is this little gem over the river in Williamsburg. And oddly enough, it seems that most of the clothing may well come from Tibet. (I don't usually think of Tibet as being a commonplace source for fashion manufacturing, but maybe I'm just woefully naive.) It's hip, edgy clothing, completely befitting of the neighborhood. I take stars off only because everything in the place seems to be priced exactly the same: $120 -- be it a sweater, a jacket, a jersey t-shirt, whatever. (Um, huh?) Unfortunately, this does them a disservice, as it means I only walk out with one thing every once in a blue moon, rather than an armful on a regular basis. But nonetheless, I keep finding my way back. Word to the wise: You can find a ton of Pema clothing at a fraction of the price, just down the street at the Bedford Mini Mall. Look for the shop with the "Free Tibet" thing going on. It's got a far more earthy-crunchy vibe than its upscale sister, but I dig the beautiful silks and chunky knits for their exotic flair. And here, you really can walk out with an arm-load and feel good about it. read more

I really like this store. I bought a cinched top, a peplum, a dress and a black and white flowy blouse, all of which I've gotten compliments on. The sales associates were always available to answer questions and helped me quickly when I need a different size. They organize the store really well so it's easy to find stuff and then they constantly clean while you're shopping so the clothes are always properly placed by size (everything is xs to large or xl? i forget). I think organization and cleanliness is key to getting people to purchase clothing because if you can't find something or if it is too overwhelming, only a handful of people are willing to sort through everything. This was my 2nd trip here. On my first visit I had purchased a dress on sale for $18 orig $49. I purchased a large since the cut looked really small and I wear a med. Should have known cause after the first wearing the arm pits seams were fraying. Couldn't return it cause of these two magical words FINAL SALE. After careful examination I noticed that the entire dress was shoddy. The fabric and workmanship was of poor quality. Could have done better at Conways and pay even less. In my opinion, this is the best affordable boutique in Williamsburg. They have a large assortment of items ranging from shoes, accessories, clothing, and jewelry, which includes costume pieces as well as items locally handcrafted by independent silversmiths. The merchandise is neatly organized, so you can browse everything quickly and painlessly. I pop in every few weeks and take 10 minutes or so to browse for something pretty. Like many boutiques, they only stock one or two of each size - usually S, M, and L - so act fast if you're lusting after something. There is also a clearance rack by the door, where items are marked down by as much as 50% off the original price. I love their diverse selection of whimsical, vintage looking dresses.
