This makes getting an intensive workout in difficult when it comes to the pool, they need to enforce the rules. If people constantly have to pass you in a lane, you don't belong in a fast lane. Second issue is the gymnasium, you barely have time to play your favorite sport. They will dedicate hours of time to useless sports like tennis, soccer, pickleball? It's very inconvenient and not worth it. One thing I did like is the Sauna, the Sauna I had no problems with, it was never full and it does its job.

Supposedly they have a no bullying policy. Well, on several occasions, my child and several children were being bullied, and it was brought to the counselors attention to the main offices attention, and to the owners/guy who runs it attention. supposedly the child that was bullying My child and several others should have be kicked out. That's what their policy states that didn't happen. My child had to endure being bullied or what happened was we left and did not get our money back even when brought to their attention on numerous occasions that that bullying child was still there! And bullying is supposedly against their guidelines. The situation is I have one child and they were only getting paid for one child. The kid that bullied. My child had siblings so if they kicked that child out, the parents were gonna take the other children out and ask for their money back for their children. So does sum it up if your child gets bullied, they will do nothing about it. You just make your child summer a living hell!

We have been with NY Smart Start for over 3 years and it has been an absolutely phenomenal place…read morefor my children to learn everything from the basics in reading, math, science, geography to etiquette and everything in between. I saw them morph from toddlers who could barely trace to reading books before the age of 5 and embrace learning with profound curiosity and precocious inquisitiveness. This school is unique in many aspects which I think all stem from its principal, Nicky. She is extremely passionate about teaching, compassionate to all children, a fair disciplinarian with high professional integrity and overall a selfless person. My children feel like it is their second home and many times ask to be picked up later. We are truly a family here and feel very hurt by the malicious words about our school.

NY Smart Start was a tutoring center that turned into a "home school". This school was recommended…read moreby a friend whose daughter no longer attends it. I thought the idea of having only 3-4 kids in a classroom would be great for my son since he would get the attention and help needed to excel in school. I was worried that transitioning from a daycare setting to a school setting may be hard and wanted only the best for my son. The price was very expensive compared to other schools, $1,200 per month from 8:45 am - 3pm plus an additional $350 for the after school program. Although this school offered no breakfast, no lunch meals, no security at the premises, no cameras which were "promised" by Nicky Varisov AKA Nika the "principal" of the school. We decided to try it out solely on the fact of the amount of students in the classroom. It has become the most stressful and hardest transition for our family that we regret so much. In about less than 3 weeks, my son has been in three incidents with older students who are not in the same grade or classroom as him where he came home with bruises and scratches on his neck and face. The staff in the school along with the principal Nika belittled my son in numerous ways. After one of the incidents happened he ran to report it to one of the staff members and the principle Nika stated that if he continued to "tattle tale", he would not make any friends in this school and, apparently, be subjected to a more physical type of response without supervisors intervening. On that occasion, an older student grabbed my son and choked him, yet my son was criticized for "tattle taling". When my fiancee picked up my son that day, she gave him a brief explanation of how she was present during this incident but refused to get in between because "this is a school with different morals that are not in style with the American way of schooling". My fiancee and I were very upset and worried when we spoke about the situation later that evening and decided we both show up in the morning to speak on this situation when we dropped off our son. The following morning we tried to communicate with the principle Nika about how worried we were that this happened and the response from Nika was "I have no time to discuss this situation as I spoke with your fiancee yesterday and explained to him what happened". She refused to hear us out or assure that she would run a facility safe for our son and other students. Principal Nika neglected to provide my son a safe environment in this facility, which is located in a private house. She refused to address this situation and continued to state that she has no time for us. We were very frustrated with how she handled this matter but did not want to make a scene and decided to "let it go" on the outside chance that WE were taking it more seriously than we ought to. Following that incident, my son's entire regard for and attitude toward going to school has changed and he attempts to have us let him stay home. While we encouraged him to continue and anticipated that this event would be worked past in time, we were sorely disappointed. The second week, my son came home with a swollen eye and a bruise near it. The staff-member's explanation was that my son and another student were playing with a ball and ended up head-butting each other. My question is why only my son had a resulting injury from this incident. Another incident in another week's time, but very understandable based on the staff-member's explanation and my son did confirm he got hit while playing ball with another child so we both let this go as well. We can understand accidents happen, especially with young children. However, a third incident occurred on what became his last day attending their school. Another classmate hit my son on the face because my son was apparently playing with a toy that child wanted to play with as well. Principal Nika stated to my fiancee when he came to pick up my son that it would be better for my son to be taken out of the after school program. The result being that my 4 year old son needed to be taken out of after school program because another child hit him in the face. How exactly was it my son's fault? Principal Nika then said "We don't have enough teachers/staff to watch all the kids during after school and we would not be able to observe/prevent all incidents with students". My fiancee told Nika that we are pulling him out of that school and this isn't working out. Principal Nika is not properly running the facility, admittedly understaffing it and under-supervising young children. It seems that it is only a matter of time before serious harm is done to one or more children due to their facility's operation. We are very upset with our experience, but now feel it is our obligation to ensure that others are not subjected to the same and potentially much worse.

SOLID INDOOR PLAY PLACE FOR PRESCHOOLERS…read more It's a cool space for kids to burn off some energy when the weather outdoors is less than ideal. We lucked up and got parking right in front. The entry price of $15 for a child and adult was on par what they offered (ie small ball pit, padded jungle gym, arcade). We went on a hot summer weekend with 2 kids and 3 adults. Though they were hosting a birthday party, the place was not packed at all. The toddler area was for babies and the arcade ended up being the highlight for my group. The kids both age 3 enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Wish that I had read the rave reviews about the food before I went; might return to try the food. It doesn't take much to entertain a preschooler so stop by especially if you are looking to avoid the chaos of the bigger, more popular indoor spots.

Kayla worked her way to doing the more difficult higher slides and more difficult climbs. She loves the rides in the arcade. This place is for kids age 3 and up. Very fun overall - security I feel needs some work, I would feel safe for my kid to roam around without supervision as they don't have a protocol of if someone took your kid and went out the door. They don't monitor that. So I would be cautions of that. This place does get very busy and hectic because it's small and so many people go. In addition, there are also party rooms which usually get booked up fast. So if u want a party here, book early. The food here is pricy but does taste very good for what it is. Especially the Russian/Georgian style kebobs. Yummy. I give this place 4 stars instead of 5 due to the lack of security oversight. Lastly, the arcade play is not part of admission, you will need to buy a card and put in money. Most games are $2.50, some are $1.5, $3 and the rides are about $7. Bring your kid here and check it out. The location is kind of out of the way, Hard to find parking but public bus does come nearby here.

The kitchen smells of rotten food, the higher-ups are incapable of empathy or sympathy of any kind. The biggest offender of this I will NOT mention by name, thought it is the head of the camp. In my short time of employment at the camp, I have only seen him around three times. Otherwise, he will be sitting in his office and eating food brought up by P.As. Camp counselors (not to be confused with Program Assistants (P.As)) are also incredibly rude and entitled. A handful of them will wild out at the kids who are misbehaving for some reason. Just kidding! The reason is because they are children. I was unfortunate enough to see this in person and it was fairly jarring to see a young adult scream at an eight year old in such a vicious and inappropriate manner. As a P.A it was my job to handle food, and also work as human wall. During our many beach trips every one or two day(s) P.As (who are still mostly teenagers) would line up on a beach, and clean it up for the children. This in an of itself would not be an issue if it were not for the fact that the P.As would be forced to line up on each side of a small portion of the beach and stand in the hot sun for hours at a time. No joke. You would only be allowed to move if you were to get water. Of course, phone usage was reasonably prohibited. I was lucky enough to be exempt, but after my termination I find it unnecessary to sing any praises of this downright horrendous excuse of a job. I would constantly hear my co-workers complaining about how they've burnt or just overheated. If you are unfortunate enough to fall hook line and sinker into this job via SYEP or any other means, please be prepared just in case for the following of which I have endured. Horrible management, poor excuses of busy work, your bosses will treat you like children, your 'co-workers' (counselors, not all) will call you slurs behind your back and insult you for not bringing them their food in time (as if they are incapable of getting it themselves), and a whole lot of standing around and doing nothing except baking in the sun, or being chewed out. I was fired without warning, only mere days after being told how good of a worker I am. The big boss decided to terminate me because I ate a piece of watermelon from a tray (with a fork, with a hairnet, with gloves) and said it was a "HEALTH CONCERN" and that his "hands were tied". Reportedly, I had been told by my co-workers that this was not allowed, and that this would surely be reprimanded. However, I have zero recollection of ever having an event like this, and even if I did in my humble opinion I believe that executive warning should be stated before termination. This was not the case. Oh, and the boss used rather unsavory and vulgar language to describe my heinous crime. He used words such as "dirty mouth" to describe me. I was frankly taken aback that this would be the final nail in the coffin for me. Or should I say FIRST and final, as I had never been reprimanded in my entire time working here up to this point. If you are to work here, please know that nothing is off the table for management.
