NY Smart Start is the best place to go to learn. My daughter goes to homeschooling,SH SAT,my son and my niece go to the tutoring as well. I know this place for almost 10 years. in 2011 my little sister used this place for her ACT. Now she is in pharmacy school. She learnt how to discipline herself . Really learnt how to respect the teachers. In public school no respect and discipline for sure. She doesn't provide lunch. I'm so happy I can control my child diet by giving out my own food. She takes food to keep in fridge and warm up. I am not really fan of public school expired junk food. My daughter used to go to Saturday tutoring session for exactly 6 years. I didn't have any conflict with any teachers. Especially Nika is available 24/7. Every week had progress report of my daughter. Yes school has it's own rules to follow in only good way. All of the teachers care about every student and the person they will become. My child hasn't once gotten beaten or hit. I think the teachers deserve the $1,200 more than enough. When my daughter used to go to public school I used to pay for Saturday classes , after school clubs, Russian classes and piano exact the same amount. Now she goes only to school with everything included. I don't need run back and forth by dropping and picking from different locations. The school is like a family! I'm strongly disagree with the first review. Blaming only teachers or other children is absolutely wrong. Every child is not innocent. NY Smart Start has been the most effective and successful educational experience of my entire life. This is especially thanks to Nicky, who's strategic and engaging teaching techniques have made learning extremely enjoyable and inspirational. I have never met an individual who cares and puts in as much work for her students the way Nicky does. She has personally helped me throughout my high school education as well as the entire college applying process. She deeply cares about ALL of her students and goes out of her way to help them in all their future endeavors. I only wish that I met Nicky sooner, having been through numerous tutors. Since my time with Nicky, I have been sending all my younger siblings and family members to her school, who are all in awe of her overall teaching style and have continued the cycle of recommending NY Smart Start to their friends. We have been with NY Smart Start for over 3 years and it has been an absolutely phenomenal place for my children to learn everything from the basics in reading, math, science, geography to etiquette and everything in between. I saw them morph from toddlers who could barely trace to reading books before the age of 5 and embrace learning with profound curiosity and precocious inquisitiveness. This school is unique in many aspects which I think all stem from its principal, Nicky. She is extremely passionate about teaching, compassionate to all children, a fair disciplinarian with high professional integrity and overall a selfless person. My children feel like it is their second home and many times ask to be picked up later. It is for these reasons I was shocked to read the negative review above as it describes a place and a person I have not encountered during our years at NY Smart Start. Although it represents an opinion of someone who was obviously upset I do not believe that it fairly describes the school my kids attend or the principal. NY Smart Start turned out to be the answer to all our prayers! My son transferred to this school from a super fancy private school, where the teachers struggled to manage his behavior and various quirks. Here, at NY Smart Start, my son feels engaged and truly captivated by the exciting lessons, he is surrounded by a warm and caring atmosphere, and his biggest disappointment of the day is when he gets picked up to go home. The teachers and the principals figured out the appropriate approach to target my son's unique learning style and the results are mind-blowing--he has grown tremendously both academically, socially and behaviorally. I'm shocked to read the one star review! What are they talking about? Did they ever sent their child to public school?! I did. And I had never thought I will be so happy with an education program as this school. I didn't met a teacher or a principal that actually care personally for EACH child mental, academic and social development. She make sure each and every child will be respected and treated fairly. The stuff that she choose are share the same values- everyone of them. There is no school in Brooklyn ( or in NYC) that I can say, that deliver the values that I believe in. Absolutely the best educational program for children! The homeschool has smaller setting than a traditional school where children are surrounded by peers of all ages and are allotted the experience of developing closer friendships.
