The staff was nice, but i felt they just did not teach at the right level. My sons either felt overwhelmed or bored. The came back from class very frustrated. I would have liked them to continue this program because it is so close to our home, but my boys protested so much. Would not recommend unless they change things up.

I might give them a try this Fall downtown. However, we purchased a Living Social coupon for a 1-on-1 lesson and were assigned Maurice Maxwell, who was a small forward for UMass. Maurice was nice, patient, and very knowledgeable. Indeed, my son who is 13 and plays video games morning to night, by the end of the session actually noticeably acquired skills (including cross over, looking up while dribbling to the basket, shooting from further away on a layup and defending against someone). I highly recommend Maurice, who actually made an appointment and met us a couple of blocks away from our house in Brooklyn Heights, which was great. Thanks Maurice and Basketball Stars of NY for getting a couch potato off the couch, up, moving, and actually enjoying playing basketball. He looks forward to our next session.

"trainers" really aren't and I don't know how they are qualified to be called swim coaches at all. they don't have any profiles on the JCC site, and when you ask for some bios so you can select the one best for you, you're told NO and you're just assigned some rando person according to the time you want to go. (Getting told NO is a recurring theme at the private swim program) There is only 1 time slot available during week days 2-3:30 and at the facility at all other times is so crowded that it's not pleasant to be there or especially the ladies locker room, which is utterly packed with little kids. If you become ill the day of your appointment, you can cancel but you will be charged for the session you've already paid for PLUS a penalty. But a trainer can cancel one hour before and that's fine apparently. Trainers can fail to show up for your appointment and that's ok. And when a trainer reschedules a session for a day and time when you are no longer in the city you won't be refunded.

I was a guest of a member during the 18-inch snow storm, so I wore my $500 dollar suede Danner lights (Made in the USA) to manage the snow. Upon entry, I was informed by the staff that, due to the suede being too light, it looked too much like Timberland boots, which are banned. I was professionally whisked to a backroom, where I was offered to wear black loafers 3 sizes too large if I wanted to make my appointment. I spent the rest of my time skipping through the venue in order to not trip over myself, wearing massively oversized shoes. I would have been okay with this footwear restriction if it was universally enforced, but there were plenty of people in the club wearing duck boots, metal hook leather hiking boots, and even the same type of boots of a slightly darker shade. Apparently, the shoe shade restriction was not something members are aware about (the no sneakers restriction is well known). I have previously been a guest here with positive experiences. However, today I was put in an illogically unsafe experience, forced to wear loaner shoes 3 sizes too large, because $500 lighter suede boots are deemed less classy than duck boots for being too"Timberland like" during a snow storm.

This league doesn't hold a candle to NYC Social…read more NYC Social is fun and encourages collaboration amongst all of the teams. They have contests at the post-game bar meet ups for things like the most team spirit and social media love where you can win credits for future games or more importantly, a bar tab. They update their rain hotline instead of making you come to the field, only to cancel the game. They have a professional photographer that comes to the game to take action shots. Their refs are actually friendly. They hold games at a reasonable hour and not 10:00 at night. They don't allow bunting. Most importantly, their fields are not in the middle of crime ridden areas. ZogSports was fun because I got to play kickball with some great friends, but they run a really poor organization. It's a shame that this is one of the only adult sports leagues in Hoboken.

Probably not, unless you do one of the super-competitive leagues. I did cornhole, so umm, yeah, I still needed to hit the gym afterwards haha. But I had a ton of fun, and I made some great friends that I still talk to outside of the games. There are a variety of options. In the past, I've also done volleyball, but there's kickball, soccer, dodgeball, softball, and more. You want to play it? They probably have it. You can also choose your competitive level, so whether you're a top athlete, or have 0 hand-eye coordination, there is a league for you. There are leagues offered throughout the year, and you can choose based on days (ie: Sunday league, as opposed to a weekday league). If your work schedule isn't flexible, sometimes the times can conflict. It's also a little expensive (BUT part of your contribution goes to donating to the winning team's philanthropic organization). You also get discounted alcohol after the games. Overall, if you have the time and you enjoy being social, do it. I suggest joining with at least one friend in the beginning so you feel at ease, but if you rather go at it solo, you'll still have a blast!
