I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Dijah, the leasing agent at Hanover Northgate Apartments, and I was absolutely impressed by her high level of client service. She was incredibly professional, courteous, and responsive, and she went above and beyond to make sure that I had the information on any available apartments and ensure my preferences matched with any available apartments. This was my first apartment search, Dijah was quick to respond to my email and answer all of my questions. She was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area in Oakland, and she was able to give me some great recommendations for the area. I was particularly impressed by Dijah's description of the building amenities and the variety of floorplans. She was able to tell me all about the different features, such as the gym, roof deck and I believe you can take a virtual tour of the apartments and the building....(but don't quote me!) But what really stood out to me was Dijah's warm and inviting personality. She made me feel like I was her only client, and she was happy to help. I would highly recommend contacting Dijah at the NorthGate Hanover to anyone looking for a new apartment in Oakland. Here are some specific examples of Dijah's excellent customer service: Dijah responded to my email within in less than 24 hours, even though it was sent outside of business hours and called me back the same day to answer my questions about the building amenities. I would definitely consider renting an apartment from Hanover Northgate, and I would look forward to working with Dijah in the future. I moved into this apartment complex about 3 weeks ago, and the experience has been beyond frustrating. The lack of communication from management--especially the property manager, Laterfah Omari--is unacceptable. We've called, emailed, and even visited the leasing office multiple times (at least 7-8), and didn't receive a single call or email back. I basically had to beg for them to email me in regards to our questions and concerns. From day one, there were unresolved issues. We were not given a mailbox key, and the refrigerator's ice machine and water filter were not working. We finally received our mail key after about a week of living at the property after going down to the leasing office and "bugging" them. However, Despite submitting a maintenance request for the fridge over two weeks ago, nothing has been fixed. These are basic things that should've been taken care of before we moved in--or at the very least, we should've been given a clear timeline for when they'd be addressed. What's most disappointing is how the management team seems to dodge responsibility completely. Every time we ask questions, we're told the manager will get back to us. They never do. It honestly feels like once you sign the lease, they stop caring. read more

Hello, I wanted to write this review as someone who has recently moved in and has now lived in the property for over two weeks. I'll start with the positives: the property offers great amenities, including the gym, open patio spaces, and the unit itself. We've truly enjoyed these features and are very happy with them. I also want to shout out Destiny who has had alot of compassion and understanding of our frustrations. She has been very positive when speaking to her and even as a new member of the team has already taken accountability for the poor move in experience which has yet to be seen from management. I want to focus on our move-in experience, which has been far from smooth. We've had to repeatedly call, email, and visit the leasing office in person to get basic questions answered--often with little accountability, conflicting information, and unfulfilled promises. For example, when we toured the property, we were told that the 8-week free rent concession would apply to June and July, and that our first full rent payment would be due in August. When we received the lease, the concession months were different than what we were told. We emailed for clarification and were given a phone call back and reassured that the concession would begin June 1st, so we signed the lease. But when June rent was charged, and we brought this up with management, we were met with a lack of accountability and a dismissive "you figure it out" attitude. We also inquired about parking prior to moving in and were told that ample non-reserved parking was available. When we tried to add parking, we received conflicting answers and weren't informed that there was a waitlist until two days after we had already moved in. Most of our frustration stems from the severe lack of communication. Whenever we ask a question, we're told someone will get back to us but that rarely happens. Despite numerous phone calls, emails, and visits to the office, we've found it nearly impossible to get clear or consistent answers. In particular, I want to mention our experience with the property manager, Lateefah Omari. We've sent several emails with clarifying questions and as of today we have only received a two sentence response from her. When we speak to her in person, we've encountered several issues and lack of accountability such as not receiving mail room keys upon move and were told that maintenance needed to make a copy of the master keys which could take days only for the keys to be in their back room the entire time, stating she would submit maintenance requests on our behalf only to never do so, or following up on pending items which we are still waiting on her and maintenance to follow through. It's been over two weeks since we moved in, and we're still waiting for basic follow-ups. We've had to go down to the leasing office repeatedly just to ask the same questions and are frequently told she's "busy" and will follow up yet that follow-up never comes. To be clear, the property itself is beautiful, and once all of these outstanding issues are resolved, I believe we will have a much better experience here. But the current lack of communication, transparency, and follow-through from the management team has been extremely frustrating. Do not even waste your time. This place has run my credit, took my money and told me they could not verify me. My application was denied because I was unable to upload my ID to a website to a link that did not work. Went back and forward with the leasing agents and the call center with confirmed appointments that the actual office canceled because they did not have a lot of time to show me the unit a second time. This place is BS and it's upsetting. I want my full $349. And claim I had other things on my report that she did not see! Yeah right, make yourself look good! Please give me back my full holding deposits, it's been two weeks. Money does not grow on trees. I will file a lawsuit discrimination if my money is not returned immediately read more

We are not safe here. Thieves are making their way into the building, then up the elevator, and into peoples apartments in the middle of the night while we sleep... using PROGRAMMED FOBS for every door and button on the way up. Then they go inside and steal car keys, go back downstairs to the PAID garage, and drive off with resident cars. Wonder how they're doing that so discreetly and efficiently in the middle of the night! The maintenance team repeatedly no-shows for scheduled appointments. I've been waiting on a microwave fuse for almost four months. Communication is awful and inefficient. Notice how all the recent positive reviews are from people who came for a tour and not from people who actually live here. Everyone in the office- manager included- is rudely dismissive about our complaints. We need a new property manager, security & maintenance team. We are not even safe to sleep in our own homes. read more

I am a former resident of Hanover Northgate from Spring 2020. My partner and I moved in during the pandemic. The experience was ok. Understandably amenities were closed. Property management is terrible unfortunately. We had a situation where our Washer/Dryer were not functional. We reached out to maintenance, and were sent to Whirlpool to resolve the issue. Whirlpool refused to help for weeks. We kept making contact with maintenance to check out our Washer/Dryer. They finally were able to resolve the issue. It took over 2 weeks. This is not the worst story unfortunately. Four years later, I accidentally had a couple packages sent to this property to my former address. Property management, particularly Tiana, really dropped the ball here. Since March 21st, I have made 5 attempts to make contact. I have called 4 times. I have even walked-in to check on the status. Each time I contact, I'm informed that they will promise to reach out with updates on the status of my packages. Each time they are unaware of when the packages were delivered (March 22nd and March 25th). Each time they are unaware of what delivery service - they say there's nothing in their package room, but each time I remind them they were delivered via USPS. With tracking links. USPS has confirmed these packages were delivered, so there has been no good faith attempt on Hanover to recover these packages nor reach out to the current resident. 3 weeks later, I have received zero updates. This negligence is unfortunate, as the items lost cost me a lot of money and are irreplaceable. The continuous false promises are disappointing of course, but moreso also a reflection of their lack of care. There are many options within the area to live at - I highly recommend any other property management team, as this one does not care about anything but profit. read more

I have repeatedly contacted management about the excessive noise coming from my neighbor's apartment, but nothing has been done to resolve the issue. The bass noise is constant and disruptive, often shaking the walls and continuing late into the night. Despite numerous complaints over the past several weeks, management has failed to take any meaningful action. Their lack of response is extremely frustrating it's impossible to relax or sleep peacefully while paying rent for an apartment where this problem is ignored. I'm writing this review after a horrible incident with water damage to my apartment. I should have written a review much sooner -- I've happily lived here for three years. The incident was NOT the fault of the building or managment, it was just one of those unfortunate things that happens in life. But what prompted me to write this review was seeing Keith, the head of Maintenance, polish the front of my stainless refrigerator as kind of a last step in resolving everything. I mean, aren't maintenace people the ones who usually leave dirty fingerprints on your ceiling? Not here. Keith is the maintenace manager, but the whole staff is utterly professional, responsive, caring and HUMAN. And the FRONT OFFICE!!! Oh my gosh I adore those people. Rachel, Dija and Taylor, I look forward to seeing you when I walk into the lobby because you're just so sweet and so cool! (And I'm not just saying that because you left two bottles of wine in my apartment after the incident!) I really love and appreciate you guys for your sincere desire to do your jobs well and be of service, for how kind and professional you are, and for always being there for me when I need it. Oh, the building itself -- I love it, which is why I chose it among the many others cropping up all over. The asthetics, the amenities, the light, the feel of the whole place... Just right. And yeah, things break. Specifically the garage door and the elevators. But I'm a grandmother and an urbanite, so I've lived in a lot of buildings. The garage door and the elevator have gone out of service in every single one I've ever lived in. Life isn't perfect. But for me, at Hanover Northgate, it's pretty ideal. read more

Building and amenities are nice. Maintenance would take months to come and complete a work order and we had to call down to front office/send messages to office multiple times to get someone to come up after the work order/ticket was opened. Do not use their partnered renters insurance - Entrata/Resident Insured/Markel Renter's Insurance (they are all the same under different names). SO difficult to cancel. I called them and they said to contact the complex directly to cancel and the complex advised me that the policy already termed and I did not need to do anything. Fast forward 3 months and Resident Insured began charging me again saying that I didn't cancel with them and both previous directives given were incorrect. They last charged us 4 days ago and I spent the morning canceling - and no premium is being returned for this month. read more

I loved this apartment very much! The amenities and the features of the apartment were to my liking. I will say though, that some people do not know how to park. Just email the building, and they will fix it and notify residents to move their car as soon as they possibly can. They are very responsive. Overall, staff was friendly, helpful, and always kind to me whenever I saw them in passing or needed help with something. I would 10/10 recommend these apartments to a friend who wants to live in Oakland because it's affordable and worth the price in my opinion. The only downfall is that the walls and floors aren't the most soundproof, but really not an issue as long as you're not stomping around during quiet hours! This was the worse experience ever. The lack of customer service in this establishment is appalling. My sister and I were in the area looking at another apartment and decided to take a tour. I called the direct number and was told they take walk ins. Once I arrived there was a lady on the phone who continued her conversation with no acknowledgement what so ever. I literately waited to be acknowledged for at least seven minutes. My sister noticed Lateefah and attempted to make contact with her in the conference room. Lateefah pointed her finger to gesture the other associate. At this point we were ready to go. Lateefah walked passed us with no acknowledgment, I had to say excuse me. She then asked did I have an appointment, I stated no but I was told to walk in and I would be able to tour. The website also stated there were two appointments available later in the afternoon. She then stated we are booked for the day and she just finished touring. She never asked could I come at another time nor date. My sister and I were very confused by her energy. We were dressed appropriately and both make more than enough money to rent here. I'm not sure why we're were discriminated against. My sister then asked for the managers contact she stated she is the manager and we can talk to her. She then stated she did not have to explain why she was in the conference room. Which no one ever asked her why she was there. Her unprofessionalism while representing a brand can be detrimental to the brand. She needs additional training and etiquette. I have lived in this building for three years and I have personally watched the quality tank each year. My three main issues are 1. Hidden Fees; 2. Lack of Security and 3. Incompetent Staffing. Considering Hidden Fees, --- they charge you when you request maintenance to come fix your light bulbs. When entering into leases they leave out a lot of details and my lease is 300$ more a month then I expected after confirming my prices with the staff. They do not include steep taxes in calculations and don't explain why everything is being taxed separately-- like parking. Lack of Security-- I have complained each year about security. I live near the street and there are often homeless people near my stairwell. I recently found a homeless man living im the stairs which will be included in a photo. They've ignored me and when I went to the office the staff member said she was "looking for the security guard!!". As residents we have no idea who this person is and it changes monthly. The door to the garage is never working properly. And sometimes your key will stop working! There was also an incident where someone started shooting in front of my window and they did nothing about it. Staffing-- The team in the front changes often and none of them seem to know what's going on. I told them that a homeless persons shit all Over the side door and the girl created a Maintenance request for my apartment... Positives..My apartment layout is amazing. The location is amazing and I have friends in the building... anyone with a great review probs just moved in and didn't follow up... pay attention. read more

Amazing community, very friendly staff, but the management team is fairly uncommunicative. We only find out about issues after they've been resolved (or not at all). For example, our hot water has been out for much of today, but there hasn't been a single communication about a) the fact that this is happening for multiple units in the building b) the resolution plan c) the resolution status. Additionally, maintenance is pretty slow. The maintenance staff are professional and great at their jobs, so that indicates to me that there are simply not enough maintenance folks on staff to service a community of this size. Again, amenities are great, the staff is great, and the community is really nice, but some basics of building management need improvement. read more

WARNING - DO NOT MOVE HERE! Hanover Northgate looks fantastic on paper, photos, and on the tour. A modern looking building with a ton of amenities (pool table, grill, gym, movie room, common space, storage). While these are all nice to haves and certainly appealing to someone moving in from a city where a lot of these things come standard, they are not the norm here in the Bay Area. And because of these amenities building will begin to tout themselves as luxury condos because of these "things". We have come to realize that is truly not the case. When we see phrases like "superior living experience" and "luxury living" on their marketing materials, we expect a certain level of quality will exist. And yes, we understand that comes at a price to get that quality of living. The problem begins when all these grandiose promises are flashed before your eyes and then the rug is ripped out from under you. What I am really referring to is managements lack of responsiveness and inability to effectively communicate. As a result, we do not recommend moving here. There are other options in this and other areas worth exploring first. Explanation: Numerous building issues have become apparent since move in. These have been met with band aids and empty promises versus actual solutions. After a building theft (week 1 of living here), a time-frame of two weeks was given, for something that should have been resolved within a couple of days if the care and attention it deserved was considered by management. At this point that two week promise felt like a bold faced lie to my face. That was two months ago and the building has done nothing to address the root causes or even symptoms of the issue. Since then, there have been 4 additional incidents that we are aware of. And still nothing has been done. Other buildings in the area have created community forums to collectively voice and address concerns between eachother and the management. Other tenants have suggested that same concept here, and the idea is stopped dead in its tracks. The care and attention for the management company appear to be solely in terms of common areas that can be presented on a tour. Safety and security for existing tenants feels like an afterthought. We do not feel safe or respected at this property. Management is not meeting expectations. We have tried talking in person nicely. We have tried emails. We have documented issues via video and photograph. None of that has accomplished anything , so this appears to be the only avenue we have left. Hanover Managements and their people use smoke and mirrors to present a great luxury experience during a tour, but upon busting out the magnifying glass you realize the value in living here just does not exist. The treatment we are receiving from a luxury apartment complex is equivalent to that I received from a slumlord back in college. Corporate must have done a great job of teaching their building managers how to deflect issues, promise things that will never get done, and rent units. At this point our guess is, they want the high turnover just to drive up rents. I am over this place and cannot wait to move. I love living here! The amenities make it all worth it. The conference rooms are so easy to reserve and use. The staff are friendly and helpful. I love being able to sit in any of the three courtyards to sun bathe / play pool / use the grill. To be clear, I am giving this property 2 stars for the grift in pricing. Be aware that, the current pricing does not reflect the rent you will pay after a year because of the "rent special". So after one year your rent will be exponentially higher. Make sure to only sign a one year lease!! I am giving Khadijah, my leasing agent, 5 stars for her expertise and professionalism, and I am giving the property 3.5 stars for amenities. The studios are pretty small, 500sq/ft maybe, but stunning in their amenities. I love the way that they made the bed area in the studio separate from the rest of the unit. The views are of parking lots, buildings and general trash. On the side of the building with the larger tenant outdoor area, there are views of the hills and that is MUCH better. Pick that side if you want a view that isn't depressing. The one bedrooms are over $3k a month BASE rent and are way overpriced. Hanover does not pay for any utilities, so the tenant is responsible for water, PG&E, Garbage, internet, cable and then there is parking, which is $230/mo! So the grift I am talking about is stating a unit is $2300/mo and adding a + to that but not being transparent that the unit, UP FRONT if you have a car, will be $2500/mo. Then on top of that, all the utilities make it an extra $200-$300/mo, bringing a $2300 studio to about $2800/mo or more. Now, on to the location that this building is located in. I love Oakland, and have lived here for 20+ years, and I particularly love this area for bars, concerts and food. You will too BUT, you absolutely must pay that $230/mo to have your car safely parked. Here's why. After leaving my tour at 3pm on a Saturday in July, I walked by a couple, standing in front of their car where the windows were broken out. They stepped into a convenience store for 5 minutes and said they heard the SUV's windows break came out and saw the perpetrator run away. This was in BROAD daylight on a well travelled street parallel to Valdez. As a woman, I would also advise this area is not safe after dark to walk alone in. I have lived in Oakland since the 90's and crime is worse than I have ever seen it. With all of that said, and despite the beautiful Hanover property and amenities and customer service, these units are WAY overpriced and the nickel and diming of the utilities is insane for what you are getting. I would pass and look for something with TWICE the square footage, similar amenities and at least water and garbage paid over by Lake Merritt. read more

Do not move into this building; you will regret it. I lived there in 2019-2021 and am posting this late. Between being unreasonably expensive, offering no rent abatement due to lack of access to shared utilities during the pandemic, and the general low quality of the structure itself, I despised living here. When I moved in, there was a $1,000 concession for living near the construction behind the building. "No problem," I thought, "it's a concrete structure and double-pane windows. How bad could it be?" Oh, it was bad. I spent one night sleeping in my closet because the construction crew got a permit to pour concrete over night and it was too loud to sleep. Lucky me that was on the weekend and I didn't have to work the next day. There's no way this is a concrete structure, either - between hearing my neighbors pretty clearly and the doors slamming and *shaking the building*, it's obviously poorly constructed. There's air conditioning, but the apartment is drafty. The back door to the patio wasn't properly sealed and so cooling/heating the apartment was egregiously expensive. (~$60-$120 difference on my PG&E bill) The plumbing fixtures broke a few times. They were supposedly brand new. Same level of quality with the appliances, too! I regularly ran the dryer 2-3 times to dry out some of my clothes. Towels... yikes. Oh, and let's not forget the lights! These little non-standard bulbs put out some of the worst, high temperature, harsh lighting, in the least convenient way. Never did figure out which bulbs they were; I had to call maintenance to swap them out, and eventually the building told us _we_ had to pay to replace _their_ crappy bulbs. Yeah, at $3,650 rent, I don't think so. I was the first tenant in this unit and having 5 lights go out... no way I'm paying $150. So a few bathroom lights went out and I left them alone, living in a lower quality apartment because I had no interest in dealing with that. The fire alarm went off fairly regularly, much to my dog's dismay. She didn't like it at all and I'd have to go hide in the closet with her to keep her calm. Too bad the security wasn't equally effective, since there were regular break ins. Glad I don't own a bike, or the monthly emails on bike theft would have really gotten my blood pressure up. The icing on this garbage cake is the building is telling me I'm on the hook to replace the carpet after move out. Yeah, my dog tracked a little dirt in, but a regular steam clean has always worked at my past apartments. Nope, they were going to replace it! Pictures included of... a carpet they hadn't even bothered to clean. So I asked them to actually deep clean it, and the follow up pictures looked fine to me. But their carpet vendor says it AND the pad need to be replaced! Yeah. Okay. I should have hired competent professionals to come and do the job correctly. Don't bother with the Clean Sweep move out "special". Hire a real service who actually know what they're doing. (I later called the carpet vendor and he informed me that this was unusual and he remembered specifically that they typically ask him for his opinion on replacement, but for this unit they didn't bother. Hmm.) There *was* only one redeeming quality to living here, which that last paragraph eliminated. The staff was friendly, but I'm not overlooking the unreasonable move out charges because they didn't even bother trying to clean correctly. Sorry, but you must be kidding if you think it's acceptable to not even bother trying to clean an apartment and bill the former tenant. I had to threaten to sue in small claims court to have them respect California state landlord/tenant law. They immediately dropped the majority of the move out costs once I sent the standard form letter informing them of their responsibilities as landlords. Take heed, future resident - this is NOT a luxury apartment. Rent at your own risk. read more

First, I would like to comment about the beautiful community located downtown Oakland a couple mins from Lake Merritt. I absolutely loved all the amenities this community has to offer. The best thing about this property was the person I toured with recently Tiana, she is a super sweet young lady who assisted me in finding a two bedroom. I was beyond impressed with how kind and how personable she was with my situation. She answered all of my questions and even made some recommendations on some food places to eat in the area. 5-star experience! They are not joking when they promised luxury and comfort. The facility, design, service, and experience above and beyond. I especially like the beautiful conference room, outdoor lounge, and in door gym. Everything is so nice that I don't need to drive someone else for it. Lastly, security is very good. I was worry about living in this area until I saw how much Hanover had transformed the neighborhood with new quality restaurants and stores opening up here. My car is safe in the underground garage. Friendly neighbors on the street made me feel safe enough to jog to Lake Merritt 3 blocks away. read more

New resident and from the start Jesse has been a wonderful leasing agent. This is my first time moving into an apartment and he has been nothing short of fantastic. He's very personable and has done above and beyond for me regarding my move in. He makes sure everything is explained thoroughly and answers all my inquiries and concerns with no problems. Upon moving in my washing machine was missing a minor piece and he made sure to get maintenance for me as soon as possible while letting me know his availability. Maintenance was friendly and efficient. Taylor has also been wonderful in assisting me. The staff as a whole has been a pleasure to work with and I'm very happy with my new life here. My previous review shed light on multiple problems here (including cleanliness) and the business owner only replied about light bulbs. Until yesterday, when I finally received some help from Stephanie (who resolved the issue almost immediately) I had been waiting for over a month for someone to get back to me regarding a rent deferral. After losing hours at my job due to the pandemic and undergoing cancer treatment, my income decreased unexpectedly. I informed the business in January and was told to fill out a form on February 2, and sent multiple emails and personally visited the leasing office to follow up. Each time I was told "they'll reach out soon" or "I'll get back to you." This went on for over a month. I appreciate that the issue has since been looked at, but it should not have taken multiple phone calls, multiple emails, and a final desperate visit to the leasing office. read more

On November 26th, 2022 the lock to our front door broke and we were locked in from inside. We put in work request order for this to be fixed immediately as we could not leave our apartment. Maintenance was able to open the door 3 hours later but, our lock remained broken and only one of our 2 keys was able to open it. Today is Jan 6th, 2023 and our door is still not fixed and my husbands fob still cannot open our own apartment. Hanover Northgate - Broken front door - Apartments Near Me - Oakland, California

When we first moved in, the loading dock was filled with trash and old broken furniture. We had a door mat for 1 day, and then Rachel and Taylor informed us that no one can have personal items outside of the apartments that we pay for. The garage doors are constantly out of order and the management team just leaves the doors open so anyone can access the parking garage area which costs $200 per month for tenants unless you wait for the doors to be broken again in which case parking will be free. There was a fire in an elevator recently so the management team just let the alarms blare all afternoon while people are working from home. If you need maintenance in your apartment then you sign up for some "making life easy $100 payment plan" so you can request essential items like lightbulbs and water filters, yikes.... When we came home yesterday our front door lock had stopped working even though we have only lived here for 5-6 months. Apparently people need to recharge their front door locks with a 9-volt battery every few months or the locks stop working. If you're planning on moving to Oakland, definitely avoid the Hanover properties; they are a disaster. read more

My partner and I love Hanover and the team. We've been here for 1 year and just renewed a lease to move to a bigger space! Caroline was just wonderful in helping us and answering all our questions during our transition to make it as seamless and easy as possible. I have been looking for a new apartment and have spoken with and toured numerous complexes and companies. I was looking for a complex that met all of my needs which included high quality construction, friendly/competent staff, and luxury amenities. From my first interaction with Hanover Northgate I was impressed. The woman I spoke with on the phone was incredibly kind, informative, and eager to assist me find the perfect apartment! I have had multiple negative experiences with other complexes being rude or condescending when inquiring about pricing and tours, however at Hanover Northgate I felt welcomed and respected from the very beginning. Setting up a tour was simple and they worked with me and my schedule - not the other way around which was a breath of fresh air. The tour itself was fantastic. The young woman who gave me the tour was friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. Plus every staff member was wearing a mask (properly, too!) and was appropriately socially distancing. At the conclusion of my tour I expressed I was still unsure and wanted time to think it over, and I was met with such graciousness and understanding. I felt very respected and like the staff was there to help me make a decision that was going to work best for me and my life - even if that meant not going with Hanover Northgate. After living at the same apt for 6 years, it was time to move and after touring a few places I settled on Hanover Northgate. Northgate is amazing! Close to Bart, Target, Whole Foods, and many restaurants. The Building is clean and quiet and the building stuff (especially Caroline) have been so friendly and helpful! Please, do not move in here, it is very unsafe. We have lived here for less than three months and someone has broken into our car, attempted to steal our motorcycle and stolen both our bikes in two separate incidents. Management has been very unresponsive to the problems. For a short time we had a security guard in response to break ins and this helped but they got rid of the guard and didn't let anyone know. People are trying to leave because they don't feel safe. The building is nice but don't except management to help keep you safe. I know the reality of living in a city means sometimes there is risk but thus is so terrible. The have a garage but the door was broken for two months and the storage locked have been broken into several times. Also we just received an email letting us know they are charging us for light bulbs. read more

Proceed with caution if you are considering this property. They reneged on my lease contract 2 weeks before my move-in, and made minimal effort to make amends. Customer service was abysmal. The property manager took no responsibility for his incompetence, and was defensive rather than apologetic throughout the process. Additionally, the lease had clearly been executed by both parties (landlord and tenant), but he tried to deceive me into believing the contract was a "pre-lease" so that I would voluntarily void the contract. To top it off, they have yet to refund my security deposit. Overall, I am appalled by the utter lack of integrity by the management office at Hanover Northgate, and would strongly recommend that you save yourself from a major headache by looking at properties elsewhere. read more

TLDR: Run don't walk away from any Hanover owned and managed property. They ambivalent about their customers the moment you actually live there. Management remains unable to communicate with tenants. Three simple examples: 1. The Luxer package room doesn't work when the Wifi is (frequently) down so services leave packages with the office. No one is then present in the office to pickup from. I've stood around 20-30 minutes with 3-4 other tenants to pickup something urgent. The property manager even managed to walk into the building, look at us, and walk on to the elevator rather than acknowledge our presence. 2. The building was literally shot up on a Sunday afternoon, leaving bullet holes in empty retail spaces and a glass window. Management never mentioned one word of this. 3. Management and Otis elevator left the building without valid elevator permits for 2+ years. This resulted in 2 of the 3 elevators being shut off for nearly a week. Nothing was formally communicated to residents about this shut off, either a reason or a timeline for rectifying the problem. This was a major issue given you cannot use stairwells to get back upstairs (except one random exterior stairwell) and the building is almost uninhabitable without elevators. read more
