I have lived at Rasa for almost 5 years now and am still loving it here! Anytime I have a maintenance issue they're on top of it (and super friendly, too). Management is also quick to respond, very professional, and actually care about you. The gym, rooftop, and community room is always well-kept and clean. It's clear that the management takes pride in keeping the property in great condition. The location is another huge plus, as it's in walking distance to the lake, grocery stores or BART/busses. Overall, Rasa has exceeded my expectations in every way. It's a place I truly enjoy coming home to, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, well-managed, and welcoming living space. read more

Rasa has been home to my husband and I for more than a year now. We love being in a busy area that is in the heart of uptown Oakland and also in a more safer pocket of Oakland. It's a walkable area with many awesome places at stones throw from the building, be it coffee, cocktails, bakeries, great food, and not to forget Lake Merritt! Apart from the brilliant location, the building amenities are really nice with a clean gym, a quiet work space with free printing credits every month, an indoor hangout spot, a lovely rooftop that offers beautiful views spanning from Berkeley to SF. The rooftop also has a nice seating area with a fire pit and barbecue grills. Both indoor common area and the rooftop are open for friends and family. We've had a great time here and being on the 6th floor, we're truly rewarded with lovely views! read more

We have tried to view the Denizen/Rasa apartments twice now. First, we stopped by during posted business hours and the doors were locked. No worries, we'll make an appointment next time. We took time off work and showed up for our appointment a week later. Guess what? Doors were locked. Annoyed, we grabbed a snack and walked around the area for an hour. When we checked in again, the office was STILL closed and there was a line of 10 angry people at the door. I'm sure they all had appointments as well. We cut our losses and left. The worst part: Denizen/Rasa failed to return our call, email, and text to reschedule THEIR missed appointment. Their automated system sent us a survey asking how our tour was. What a joke. I moved into Rasa a year ago from Atlanta. I didn't know anything about the Bay Area & wanted to find somewhere downtown for convenience. Everyone in the leasing office was extremely nice & made me feel comfortable. Alexandria got me approved very quickly to move in which made the transition for me very smooth. I didn't have a car, so staying here was easy for me to get to work since BART is only a few minutes away. There are tons of restaurants/bars & grocery stores nearby. I'd often go to lake Merritt which you can get to within a few minutes. The actual apartment was nicely designed & they have a cleaning company clean the common areas daily. Security is on-site patrolling at night which made me feel safe. Overall I enjoyed my stay & definitely would've renewed my lease if I wasn't moving back home. read more

Management's tone in response to my Yelp review is noticeably more polite than their private responses have been: "Hi Imani, we hope you're feeling more optimistic about the community after our most recent conversation." How could I feel more optimistic? Here are direct quotes from the most recent email I received from management: "Butterfly MX will be revisited in March or April The Bike Room is just something that they are exploring. There is no guarantee that anything will be done. I also want to make it very clear that the owners do not have to do any of these things. So come March or April and they decide not to move forward with ButterflyMX then you will have to live with the call box that we already have. Same for the bike room. If the project is too expensive and they do not want to spend the money then you will have to live with the Bike Room that you currently have. And there will be no more going back and forth because that will be the decision." "This will be my last email about this situation." It seems that management is more concerned with public perception than in serving current tenants. read more

I have had a great time living at Rasa so far.  We moved in about two months ago, in the midst of the shelter in place.  The apartment itself is really beautiful, all modern amenities (washer/dryer/dishwasher) make life really comfortable.  Which matters all the more now, that we are working from home.  The neighborhood was more vibrant before the shelter in place, but it has been great having the proximity to several food markets, great takeout, and the lake in walking distance.  Safety has not been an issue for me so far. I particularly enjoyed working with our leasing agent, Alesia, who was massively helpful with all our million requests.  She showed us at least a half a dozen places at multiple properties, and showed us our particular apartment at least on three occasions.  She was really respectful of social distancing, was super proactive in communicating with us, and worked on our timeline. So glad everything worked out, and we get to call this cozy place our home! read more

The management at this building has made our time living here extremely unpleasant. They are dishonest, rude, unprofessional, and generally unwilling to assist residents with any questions or concerns. We were lied to regarding several building amenities and pricing quotes during our initial tour of the residence (A/C in the apartment, yoga room, price of utilities per month, price of parking, common areas and amenities, etc). Our lease was riddled with mistakes, including what we owed for the security deposit, first month's rent, etc. We had to send it back several times for these errors to be resolved. After finally getting moved in, we continued to have issues - packages being stolen from the lobby, bikes stolen from the bike room, closets falling apart, parking systems breaking and trapping vehicles, gym equipment not working, common area amenities not working. Through all of this, Rasa management ignored resident complaints, to the point that the residents signed a group petition to get management's attention. While some of these things are to be expected in a new building (or any building), the true issue here is the behavior and attitude of the Rasa management and FPI management teams. The lack of professionalism, timeliness, courtesy, communication, and overall customer service is actually appalling. Any slight issue is met with a rude attitude (if you can even get a response). We have tried to reach out to them on multiple occasions, as have many other residents, and we have not been able to get a satisfactory response. Hopefully this complaint will get the attention of someone in management who is able to remedy these situations, and improve the team's present lack of integrity, honesty, and customer service. read more

Updating my review to reflect * having a bike stolen, * having another bike stolen a month later, and * having property stolen from my storage unit in the building (which was located in a room that requires a fob to enter and was in a locked storage bin). This is a storage room within the building - so you would require a fob to get in the building and then into the storage room. Apparently a fob had been taken, and it was not noticed or not considered important, so it was never deactivated. Considering management did not provide any financial compensation in any of the three cases, I am wishing the building had given me a security deposit before I moved in... read more

This place is beautiful! Lots of amenities inside and within the community. The rooftop was my favorite hang out spot to get a breath of fresh air and view the city. My kids favorite areas were the theater room or gym. Definitely recommended if you want access to all the great food and events in the downtown Oakland area! Like I mentioned in my previous review, the Community Director said, "come March or April and they decide not to move forward with the ButterflyMX then you will have to live with the call box that we already have. Same for the bike room." So no, I do not feel confident in the community. As for security being increased to 7 days a week, while that's a start, people should know that the guards are patrolling several other buildings and are not at Rasa all the time. I tried contacting the emergency security patrol number a couple weeks ago when someone was repeatedly trying to enter our apartment at 11:30pm (fortunately, it turned out to be a drunk neighbor). I called twice, asking security to come check on the situation and to knock on my door once everything was cleared up. They said they'd send someone over, but we waited for hours and security never came or called us back. If you are thinking of moving to Rasa, don't let yourself be fooled by this response from FPI. I've been here for months and I've talked to many tenants and the comments made by them all are always very similar: That, while the building looks nice, management is ruining it for all of us. read more

I moved into Rasa apartments April 2022 and from day one it has been a great experience. They were very easy to communicate with, very upfront with what was needed, and made sure my transition into the building was quick and easy. The complex's amenities are very useful and easy to access. Nice weight room that is really private and safe. Office room where you can print and have a quiet place to work. A movie room, and the roof top with an amazing view which is probably my favorite. The building itself is very clean and well taken care of. The leasing office was always very polite and helpful when needed. Whenever I had an issue with anything in my apartment they made sure it was taken care of as fast as possible. I really wanted to move out quietly and not have to write this but now they've gone too far. As you all know we have been in shelter-in-place since March 17. March 17 - shelter in place orders begin March 18 - Notice received from Rasa Management that says they will be increasing my rent by $313 per month. Legal? Probably. Ethical? Hell no. Extremely opportunistic to say the least. Normally I wouldn't have any issue with this, because the nice thing about living in this country is you have choices. They have the right to increase rent as a landowner, and as a tenant I could have chosen to move to another building. However, given the following I have no choice but to stay in place: 1) no apartments are doing tours currently 2) hiring movers at this point and doing a full scale move would be rather risky due to the state of emergency the state is in - i.e. limit contact with other people etc. I have no choice but to stay in place and eat the rent increase. Awful neighborhood, awful management, awful building. Better to live literally anywhere else. 1) There was a break-in to the bike room where my bike was stolen, so management sent out an email saying "be sure to lock up your bikes" and then did nothing. 2) There was a second break-in A MONTH LATER in which my other bike was stolen. Both bikes were locked. Management did nothing. 3) There was a third break-in, in which someone stole things out of my storage unit on the 2nd floor, and management did nothing. How are so many break-ins possible? Oh right, someone stole one of management's key fobs and they didn't deactivate it until after the third break-in. Management does not care about any tenants. There is constant construction noise and the building is so shoddy that it sounds like the drilling is happening inside your living room. Management does not alert residents when, say, construction workers will be coming into the building and drilling on your roof for a few hours, because management does not care about any tenants. The parking gates break constantly, so you can't get your car out when you need it. The other tenants are inconsiderate and don't clean up literal dog shit from the common areas. Management does nothing about this. Oh, but they'll send you many emails about free red bulls that they're gonna give you, because they think that matters at all? Do not even tour the place. You'll probably step in dog shit if you do. Do not tour Mason at the Hive or Denizen either, they're the same company. read more

I've been living at RASA for the past 3 months and I'm very happy there. It's a great community and it's perfectly located (close to Bart, bars and restaurants). The building itself is brand new and has fantastic amenities. It is very clean as well. It's interesting that FPI takes the time and effort to respond to public Yelp reviews rather quickly but not the private ones I have sent inquiring about these issues. Secondly, I find the the professional tone on this public platform intriguing which is so clearly absent from the onsite employees. My experience living here is indeed quite similar to the majority of the real reviews on here and those of my real neighbors. In fact, when I run into a neighbor in the elevator or hallways, we all commiserate with one another over our shared horrific experience with Rasa. I am curious why I should contact the marketing and social media managers to have my concerns addressed when the on-site and FPI managers have continuously ignored my complaints. The only solution I am interested in at this point is a early release from this lease without the 10 thousand dollar fee for breaking the lease. read more

I've been a resident at Rasa since June 2019. While the building and units are beautiful and do make a great initial impression, the experience living here has has been problematic. We don't have a mail room, security, or even cameras focused on the mail area. Packages will be placed on the floor or into a small Amazon locker which fills up all the time. Many residents have had lost or stolen packages as a result. The residential bike room has no cameras and has been burglarized as well. Many of us have attempted to contact the Property Manager David Mendez but he doesn't respond to our concerns or inquiries. Unfortunately the only recourse seems to be to complain on these public forums. I really hope the Rasa reads our messages and attempts to re-mediate our problems with on site security. Better late then never. read more

Just moved out of Rasa after being there for a year. The management team was always very responsive and friendly, especially if you called the office. The parking is a bit of a pain if you have to wait for your car or if the mechanism breaks down but overall, we were pleased with the apartment and the convenient location to BART and work. Before SIP, the gym with Peloton bikes was really great and hopefully will be able to open soon. The area around is fine, but you do need to be attentive when walking around. Contrary to others who have reviewed, we never felt unsafe or had anything stolen, though we did choose to keep our bikes inside our place. read more

Me and my friend made an appointment to view apartment at 3pm but we were stuck in traffic and reached at 3.20pm and also left voice mail at 2.30pm and tried to call multiple times to tell about the delay. But whoever was in charge of showing the place was so so rude. I hope they can politely say that it's not possible to show apartment instead of just rudely saying "I won't show you apartment come again". We were standing there with our parents. At least not us but learn to respect elders. Definitely we will never want to lease any apartment in a community which is represented by such people. read more

Toured this beautiful apartment building today and can I just say, I absolutely fell in love. The staff were very friendly and inviting. I toured with Asia, she was knowledgeable on the area and gave insight on restaurants nearby. Location is very convenient especially if you're commuting into SF. The two apartments I viewed had tons of natural lighting, great size washer and dryer in the home, nice size bathroom, as well as a balcony within the master bedroom. But I must say my favorite feature was the rooftop! The bbq grills and stunning view of oakland and the bay bridge is perfect for entertaining. read more

Would give this zero stars if possible. Do not let the 5-star reviews fool you. This management is out for one thing and that is to take your money and spit on you while they do it. There is a massive lack of security for an apartment complex of this price, as well as piss poor responses when things inevitably happen as a result. Management is unresponsive when we have any issues, and when they do respond it is like they didn't even read the message. I will never rent from this group again. read more
