I've lived at Parker Apartments for a while now, and honestly, it's been one problem after another. Since I moved in, the entire leasing team has been replaced multiple times. Even the main maintenance crew was replaced once, and the head manager alone has been swapped out more than four times in less than a year. That kind of turnover is a huge red flag and speaks volumes about the lack of consistency and direction here. Security is a major concern. Over Christmas break, I left my motorcycle parked in the garage, only to come back and find it moved from its original spot and covered in deep scratches, clear signs of an attempted theft. I immediately reported it. What did Parker do? Basically nothing. They claimed they spent two weeks reviewing camera footage, only to later admit the cameras didn't even point toward the bike. So why were they "looking" for two weeks if the cameras never captured that area to begin with? This is just one example. Theft is a recurring issue, and there's been little transparency or real resolution. The garage gates, which are supposed to provide security, have been down for multiple months, leaving the property completely exposed. That is likely the leading reason for the ongoing theft problems. On top of that, the grills have been broken for months. One of the main amenities residents pay for isn't even usable. Same goes for other community features, they are either out of order or just poorly maintained. I remember asking the leasing office about the bad Yelp reviews before I signed, and they brushed it off, saying it was just one tenant who really disliked them. Now that I've lived here, I see that was just a cover up. I never write Yelp reviews, but if there's one takeaway from this one: DO NOT RENT HERE unless you're trying to deal with headache after headache. read more

This apartment building continues to be managed by unbelievably incompetent building management. The building has a key fob-access system, which has been down for almost a week. Their response is that they're "working on it." In the mean time, it is not possible to check your mail, unless you catch them while they have the door propped open during business hours. I asked them to leave the door open, as I am not at the building during business hours. And they told me they would. Sure enough, it was not. They continue to be extremely incompetent. read more

Let's just say this apartment complex talks up the quality of the community a lot. Equinox on the bottom floor, okay great, you still pay $180 a month for the membership. So, add $180 to the cost of your already overpriced apartment. They are way behind on updating the complex. Some doors have fobs to unlock them, some have physical keys. They said they are working on getting a code-entry at the bottom floor, but are getting quotes and likely won't have it until 2024 (It shouldn't take that long, you could do this in a week). The worst part is I called and asked if I lost my fob, how I would get into the apartment complex since there is no code to open the front door. They basically told me I'm shit out of luck. That's nice to know... After I already signed the lease. It would have also been nice to know that the monthly equinox membership is still $180 for 1 branch location that doesn't have a gym or a pool. $180 for a weight room and eucalyptus towels. They also do not communicate well with delivery drivers. The mail room is in 2038 Parker and countless times have I had to answer calls from Amazon because they didn't know where to go. Their portal to pay rent is a mess and is forwarded through an additional service provider. Apparently utilities (except for internet, PGE, etc.) are calculated not based on usage, but on overall community usage, divided by number of residents, and then distributed algorithmically. Lol, fancy use of technology, but still have outdated apartments. You can get luxury apartments in San Francisco for the same price and they are much easier, always have a front door person, and make it easy to view and pay your rent. A month in and I'm just figuring out there are amenities in the other building (a courtyard) that I can use. The amenities in 2037 suck, it's an outdoor deck with tables and chairs, but right behind the wall is the trash room, so it always smells. It's also on the ground floor and is surrounded by the rest of the building, so not really an "outdoor space", just doesn't have a roof. They are also very unorganized. I sent and re-sent documents to them multiple times to confirm that I paid and had renters insurance. I just now figured out I was charged $35x2 for a monthly lease-lock that I waived. I was refunded, but nonetheless would have been charged for it if I hadn't gone through my bill with the front-desk. Very disappointed with this apartment complex. They could make it miles better by having better sound-insulation inside the apartments, having a code to buzz yourself into the building, and updating little things like locks, so everyone is on the same page. I feel that 2037 building is just the shitty little brother to 2038, but was not aware of this when I signed the lease. However, I haven't seen 2038 either outside the mailroom... read more

I highly recommend you keep looking and not rent here. Here's my experience. I'll start out with the good. The building is a luxury building and the units are nice. Super convenient that there is a gym on the bottom level. There's also a business lounge which is nice to work in. The neighbors are a mix of Cal students, professionals, and the homeless. Yes, you heard that right. The building has had multiple incidents of homeless people living in stairwells, the parking garage, and even the units. I was kinda aware of some of the crime but not fully aware until someone in the building posted the website www.greystarsafety.com About a year ago there was an incident where a felon stole a car of a tenant, then came back to kidnap, beat her, and threaten her life with a gun. We were locked out of the building for 3 hours while dozens of police officers searched the entire building. Months earlier he beat and terrorized the woman and the police were also called but they never came. Also, there's been many instances where our packages are stolen left and right, some say as many as 700 packages in the last year. In another scary instance, a man kicked open the door of someone in the building and stole their ipad, smart watch and laptop. In another, someone broke in and stole credit cards. And yet another, a homeless person lived in the units and stole packages. This is the crazy party. They have never emailed us regarding these incidents. We have an online forum and they won't allow us to discuss the incidents of crime at the property! How is that legal? That's our free speech right. Can't wait to leave here. Until then, my father wants me to buy a gun. I am anti-gun so I won't do it but my boyfriend has purchased surveillance cameras, a door alarm, and set up a new lock. read more

Gym living at the Equinox by Parker is terrific. I can not contain my enthusiasm for living at an Equinox gym that also has apartments.The customer service at Equinox is top notch. When even I need them, they are right there, in the residents lounge, holding team meetings business center, chilling in the courtyard, or setting up shop at the front entrance in the mail center. Equinox sales rep literally right inside my front door is unbeatable and unbelievable. Honestly, 'dis too much. I was going to hold off writing a Yelp review of the Parker Apartments until a month or so had passed. Given that the apartments are brand new, I thought a month would be a fair amount of time to give "management" time to work our the hiccups. (More on why management is in quotes later.) Let's talk more about the Equinox because despite paying rent to live in a residence, my entire life is built to suit that gym. Living above an Equinox wasn't a selling feature for me, but it definitely seemed cool - a well reputed gym steps away from my front door. Not bad. But when I realized residents only received negligible benefits from living in close proximity - waiver of initial $300 sign up fee and 10%, I scratched my head and shrugged. $17.50 in savings every month barely covers my commute for a week. But it's no skin off my back. I don't have to sign up for a gym membership and Equinox doesn't negatively impact me, right?! Wrong. The first sign I lived in a gym that happened to lease apartments was after the residents received a notice to stop using the first level of the resident's parking garage. That level would now be reserved for Equinox gym members. Srsly. To add insult to injury, Equinox already has a separate parking garage with their own parking in the Parker. Now residents, who pay to live here at the Equinox/Parker, have to drive two levels down to convenience people who pay to occasionally lift heavy things at the Equinox/Parker. That's crazy. But still not a deal breaker. What was probably the last straw and reason enough to write this review was noticing that the Equinox staff had moved into the Parker resident's lounge. I noticed they were holding occasional Equinox meetings in the business center over the last few weeks, but those were short in duration and easy to over look. But honestly readers, I see the Equinox gym staff more than I see my own leasing office staff. I have to ask the Equinox people to hand my my USPS packages and take turns using the community kitchen. This leads me to ponder whether the Parker is either a really AWESOME gym or a crappy apartment complex in need of professional standards. Here are some reasons why the latter might be a more accurate description: - I pay rent to Greystar, as opposed to a gym membership fee to Equinox - It took two weeks and begging to get running water to all my appliances (Why, y'all?) - Valet Trash removal is a headache, a pain, reason enough alone to despair my lease agreement - Can we please have a convex mirror in the parking garage? (Steerage/P2 and below. I don't care what happens to the gym members with premium parking.) - I don't care about HipHopYoga community events nearly as much as I care about getting the one elevator in each building to run more frequently than twice per hour. Please. - Nickel and Diming seems to be on trend for the leasing office. Valet Trash removal, fees to pay rent online, shared meter water services, and $300 a year to use lockers for package delivery. Cancel this trend. Why the scare quotes around management staff? Because with the notable exception of Jenae, I have no idea what the Parker Leasing Staff manages besides scheduling community events. It's difficult to get any questions answered from the two guys. When they are around, they are either on the phone or trying to get me to use the online portal, concierge package lockers, or anything that lessens my contact with them. Oh, I and I see y'all two taking up the choice parking spots on the first level of the garage. It's been noted and added to the file on why I think the Parker suffers too little interest in it's residents and too much focus on Equinox. Camisha, one of their leasing team member, is very responsive, but Neil, one of their affordability team member that Camisha said will take care of my case and will be back on Monday, has not contacted me. Several emails had been tried and only Camisha responses, I do not even know if this Neil exists or not! Since my review was apparently too long, here are some additional considerations to the PROS/CONS list in the first part of my review (Click "Previous Review" to see that list): ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS 1) The building is brand new, so not all amenities are operational yet. Example A) The package concierge system (read: package lockers) are still not operational, despite being told they would be running by mid-January. It is currently mid-March. Right now, the leasing staff accepts packages, and you can pick them up during leasing office hours (no notification system in place). If the staff are all out on tours, then occasionally, packages will not be delivered (I expect this not to happen anymore, since they've hired a third person recently). ** Edited 3/28/17: Residents were notified today that the system should be online by 4/1. Apparently there is a $20-one-time registration fee and a $4/month fee (the fees are a surprise since it was not disclosed to us when we signed our lease). Example B) There is no gym for resident-only use, but the apartment advertises a discount with the Equinox that is going in on the ground level. No idea what the discount is, or when the Equinox will open though. ** Edited 3/28/17: Equinox is opening on 4/6. The discount is waiver of the $300 initiation/registration fee and 10% off the monthly fee. 2) The leasing office staff is super friendly, but I think they are still focused on their primary task, which is to sign leases. I feel as though a dedicated resident manager is missing from this building, but perhaps once the occupancy hits Greystar's desired target, the staff will be better able to transition to supporting existing residents. For example, I emailed the staff three weeks ago asking for an updated estimate of when the package lockers would be online, and never heard back. You generally need to follow-up with the staff in person if you want a response. This particular inquiry wasn't important enough for me to follow-up on, though (and I suspect once they read this review, they'll remember to respond!). ** Edited 3/31/17: On 3/16, management posted a public reply to my review indicating they would send me an email with updated dates for the amenities. I finally received the email on 3/30! 3) Our initial list of maintenance items were taken care of by John, who was very attentive, super friendly, and competent (the most important thing to me). It's not clear to me if he is dedicated to our building yet, or if he is still splitting his time between Parker and another property in Oakland. I hope he will be with our building full time! 4) I'm unable to comment on sound proofing between the walls, as no one has moved into the apartments directly beside us yet. Hopefully it is good, since we have a baby on the way. If you plan on moving in on the 4th floor, you might want to ask if the unit is beside that-Type-A-pregnant-lady-from-Yelp. read more

Super modern and organized. You'll find yourself feeling cozy here given the right apartment. The amenities are usually always overlooked as a lot of apartments in the US do not have indoor laundry, well you are definitely blessed as they do have them here. If you can keep up with trash management, saving energy and being a responsible tenant/neighbor you'll love it here. There are no bugs or insects and the lounge and pet area are a super plus. 10/10. read more

I am updating my rating to five stars, because there have been a great amount of improvement since the new management has arrived. Kaitlyn and Camisha are amazing and responsive. As I mentioned in previous review, the building feels safe and quiet. I noticed someone is complaining her about their personal situation...it's unfortunate, but not really helpful. The maintenance and upkeep is A1. The grounds are clean and well attended to. The building is on the smaller size of many newer buildings, so the resident management not so bad. People are neighborly, kind and seem to want to follow the community rules. The amenities are a bonus with the coffee, printer and workspaces. These are generally available. I actually visit with my family in the media area or outdoor patio/lounge (nice fridge, grills and oven). The mail room....well, as I mentioned ppl are getting a lot of deliveries these days. SO, it's best to keep this in mind when ordering. The mailroom is not a post office--it's a community space. The delivery ppl change often, and they just put the boxes in there. I get a notice whenever I have deliveries, and I retrieve the ASAP. Some ppl leave their boxes in the room for days. I'm not sure packages are being "stolen". The mailroom has a lock and cameras. The parking situation is improving. There have been many issues due to people parking in the building who weren't residents; and residents parking in the reserved spots. Also, people who have spaces in the stacking spots have been parking in the garage spaces. Lots of confusion. The audit by management was necessary to get this resolved. Residents received several notices about the audit. All this said, I love the building and hope for many new wonderful neighbors. read more

CAL STUDENTS - DO NOT LIVE HERE. Super rip off and they do not care about you at all. 1. My dog got fleas using the dog wash center!!! 2. Car damaged by stacker parking!!! 3. Packages stolen from mail room OFTEN!!! 4. Bike stolen from mail lounge!!! 5. Elevator shuts down randomly & permit posted on it has been expired for 6 months. 6. High base rent & EVERYTHING is an extra charge. 7. Management makes promises they can't keep then straight GHOST you... 8. Raise the rent on you significantly when it is time to resign - even though they tell you you'll get a better resigning deal - so after 1 year you'll have to move out anyways or pay extra $$$ 9. Garage gate always malfunctions. 10. HORRIBLE smells in the building 11. Co-working lounge is always dirty & people get LOUD. 12. Balconies not cleaned before move in - I had a black widows nest that I had to remove and the floor was disgusting (indicating my unit was vacant for a good amount of time). You can't use water because of the balconies directly under you. Obviously no apartment building is perfect but for the price it's definitely a rip off, especially for Cal students. Base rent does not include mandatory trash removal fees or parking. Most upset about the increase in price because it came out of nowhere & you would expect even a minimally better rate due to COVID-19. It doesn't matter who is management when you sign because they'll probably be replaced within a couple months... it's hard to keep track of and sooooooo disorganized. I have been talking to management extensively about this but have to restart the process over and over because they keep getting replaced... AVOID they stress! LOOK ELSEWHERE!! Looks good on the website & on the outside but not everything is as nice as THEY MAKE IT SEEM. It was nice having Equinox below but it's super small & with COVID-19 it probably won't be the best place to workout. Also, that's an extra $200/month. What a wonderful place to live! An apt. is more than a space, it's the people who manage and maintain services. Former manager, Sunny, guided my move to Parker 1 yr. ago, providing much support for my interminable questions without being peeved. Courtney, as the new Manager, is incredibly willing to assist, very responsive, and reassuring. Jennae, leasing agent, showed me apts. when I was initially looking, her calm, informative manner sealed the deal! John, Maintenance, was very helpful in showing how things work. Jorge, new Manager on board, has exceeded all expectations, for initiating and solving (my) improvements. Leo is extremely craftsmanlike in preparing apts. for new tenants. Because of the help I've received, I am happy to find my "home". I'm 71 yrs., feeling comfortable here, with gorgeous views of Golden Gate Bridge. Apt. is great, but the people make it so. I dropped my phone onto the lower deck of the stackable parking structure and this happened on Saturday. Although manager Camille is off but she still helped me to grab the phone, huge shout out to her! Aside from the helpful onsite managers, this apartment is one of the few new apartments close to Cal. It has in unit washer and dryer, stainless kitchen appliances including dishwasher, wooden floor, and GREAT sound insulation (I share a wall with a family with a baby and I never heard any noise). read more

My son became an occupant in the summer of 2022. We did a lot of searching for the proper place for him. In our experience, this building was managed and maintained head and shoulders above the competition of newer apartments in the CAL area. I attributed it to the onsite resident management of the building, and the maintenance employee that attends to the needs of the residents. Kaitlyn personally managed us from initially touring the building/units with us, to our move in, and now resident management. She has made the difference in our experience at Parker Berkeley. I had many questions throughout the process and she never once left me unattended to. Myself being a realtor, I understand that the leasing office probably gets a lot of inquiries, and they need to decipher who are serious prospects or who are not. I expressed how serious I was about leasing from them, and it translated to getting very attentive assistance throughout the complete process. Upon move in, the unit was immaculate! I was very impressed how it was depersonalized and turned over to my son in brand new-like condition. Even though it is not a brand new building. Having resident on site managers makes a difference in the overall maintenance of the units, building, and common areas. The managers can only maintain a building as well as the residents themselves allow them to. This is a team effort. I feel they are doing an excellent job. read more

After a month of living at the Parker, I feel enough time has passed to weigh in. Let me start off with the positive - the neighborhood and location.  Berkeley is amazing, quirky, and has a real sense of community.  Plus, Parker is conveniently located near BART.  The units, themselves, are nice with great fixtures and appliances. Now, onto the areas this community could improve. All residents are paying a minimum of $3,000 per month just for rent; $100-$150 for parking; utilities; valet trash; and a subscription service for package delivery.  But, that $3,000 per month is well worth the sense of security in a high-crime location such as the Bay Area - or so I thought.  Unfortunately, I have found that the Parker is prioritizing a high-end fitness center, Equinox, more so than our community. For those unfamiliar with the Parker, or haven't looked online, it consists of two separate buildings 2038 and 2037.  Building 2038 houses the actual fitness center, while 2037 houses their administrative offices.  As Equinox approaches their grand opening, I see their staff conducting business affairs in our resident common spaces.  This includes conducting new employee training, interviews, and team meetings.  So, as I pass through the sea of meat-head trainers to access my mail, I begin to wonder - weren't the exterior doors to the resident's area locked?  I was told common areas were only accessible by the Postal Service and residents.  Moreover, the Leasing Office staff recently changed resident parking by forcing all residents to park on the lowest level of the garage.  That gives Equinox employees and customers three levels of the garage.  At this point, you may ask yourself - what happens if you park on a different level - well, according to our Resident Portal (the central hub for Management to update us on hip-hop yoga; Equinox events; and more nickel & dime schemes) our vehicles will be cited.  Following a recent visit to the leasing office, I was told this new parking arrangment is more secure because I would have to pass through two gates to get to my level (provided I don't hit another car because of the blind turns & our garage doesn't have mirrors ).  I had amazing customer service leading up to my move but, lately it appears the leasing office wants automate many services & limiting interactions with residents; unless it's through the online portal.  Parker residents are required to pass some form of a background check to reside here. For security's sake, it only makes sense that ONLY residents have unfettered access to community ammenities. Are the Equinox staff held the same standards spelled out in our lease agreements ? Do they report to the same management team as the Parker residents? Can Equinox staff invite friends and other non-residents onto the complex? I ask because I have seen Equinox staff open the secured building door for food deliveries and others.  Stepping away from the gym, I would like to discuss the situation surrounding package delivery.  During my tour, I was told the leasing office would accept packages but, there was an alternative subscription service where I could sign up for stroage lockers to receive deliveries if I wanted.  This week our leasing office elected to advise residents that deliveries will no longer be accepted and all residents are 'encouraged' (read: forced) to sign up for the once 'optional' service which has a $30 sign-up fee, followed by $4 per month subscription.  This is incredibly frustrating!  However, I am a glass half full guy!  If the Parker allows Equinox staff and their fellow bros to access my building, then I guess it would be safe to assume, FedEx, UPS, and DHL have full access to deliver packages that I paid for without having to sign up for a subscription delivery service?!?  Doubtful! If you've read this far, I would say definitely consider Parker if you're looking to live in Berkely. The community is new & the pros outweigh the growth areas I identified. Eventually, I am confident these issues will be corrected.  And, when that day comes, this community will be one of the best Berkely has to offer! read more

Another couple of things you can expect: --For management to try to extract thousands of dollars in rent over a quibble (I turned my keys in on the 1st, but since I hadn't filled out an official notification of non-renewal until three weeks prior, they wanted me to pay for an extra couple of weeks. Totally bogus. I fought it and won--because they KNOW it's bogus). --A tellingly high staff turnover rate. The entire office staff turned over while we lived there, and when I went back a few months after moving, it was all new faces again. Like I said in my initial, they're nice people. My guess is that they got sick of enacting the absurd and unethical practices required by Greystar. read more

This is super disappointing to have to type, but in addition to having my apartment door forced open with a $7 crow bar while I lived here, I'm now faced with the prospect of having to sue the leasing manager, Courtney, and Greystar for the return of my security deposit. I lived in rental communities all my life and have never seen a corporation or leasing office make it so difficult to get what is legally mine. I left the apartment in great shape, paid rent on time, and yet it's been more than 21 days without my security deposit. To make matters worse, Courtney won't respond to any of my emails asking for a status update. Folks, in addition to the lack of security at this multi-building community (the police said there had been 8 of the same kind of breaking in 6 months), now it's clear they are also thieves who refuse to return good faith deposits. Stay clear of this place. read more

We moved into a 1BR in the smaller building at the Parker (2037) about a week and a half ago. Construction is complete in this building and there's a great shared courtyard/barbeque space and coworking area downstairs. Our only complaint is the parking which is in the other building and a little tricky to get to, but this was explained before we move in, and there is a discount on parking for residents of 2037. We love our apartment - all of the appliances are brand-new and finishes are very modern. The location is great, in a quiet neighborhood with a few buisinesses nearby and easy access to Ashby St and downtown. Farokh (leasing) and John (maintenance) have been very responsive throughout the leasing and move-in process, and in the week since we've arrived. read more

I've lived here for nearly a year now, if I could turn back time I would AVOID parker at all costs. I've had to put in multiple requests for maintenance because the units are poorly made. Multiple windows won't close, lights are constantly going out, I've had to switch my fridge out a couple times, and my garbage disposal doesn't work. That barely scratches the service. I've had over $200 worth of packages stolen from the "secure" package room. The worst part is I went to the leasing office asking them to help me find out who did it and Kaitlyn said "They must've been really sneaky". I do not understand how someone could be sneaky stealing a large package. Parker does not care about your concerns or your safety. I've had multiple men try to get in the elevator with me, one even followed me to my apartment. Please save your money and put it somewhere that actually cares about quality and safety. read more

I have lived here since 2017. The apartments are nice and well located, but the turnover in management and leasing agents over the years has been crazy. There have been issues like mailroom security that have taken a long time to resolve. Outside windows remain unwashed after 5 years. But minor apartment problems are generally handled quickly. I have a below-market-rate (BMR) unit, so my rent is very affordable. read more

We've been living here a year and wish I could say it's been a nice experience. But, the rent is too high for what you get. Over $3500 a month plus additional for parking. Our lease ended in June and management tried to raise our rent $500 a month. We negotiated down but are still paying considerably more. The apartments are poorly designed. Bad noise insulation, you hear clearly when your neighbors upstairs are walking, when your neighbor next door is watching tv and strangely, when they are doing laundry- it sounds like it's in your apartment. The kitchen lacks cabinet and counter space, when cooking on the stove, the microwave handle heats up to the point it burns your hand when you touch it (so you'll have to remember you can't use the two appliances at the same time) and next to no closet space. There is a gym that is open walled next to the apartments (Grassroots CrossFit) and every afternoon and evening we hear metal dropping on floors and banging metal sounds. Not pleasant when you work from home a few days a week and or want to eat dinner in peace! The apartment has a good location next to transit, that's all it has going for it. From the outside it looks modern and new, but looks are deceiving. Price to quality ratio is non-existent. After a year we've had enough. read more

I moved into Parker about one month ago and I absolutely love it. Starting from the beginning, scheduling a tour wasnt a problem. My friends and I were able to get a tour of Parker and the units available that matched with our schedule. Farokh was extremely helpful and patient. He answered all our questions and always made it a point to remind us that we can go to him for any questions we may have. Now, since I've moved in, I completely call this place home. Sunny and Farokh are always so helpful and responsive. And if there is a problem in our unit, John is always quick to fix it up even though he's already so busy! (Thank you so much John !! ) I really love the people that work here and live here. They're all so kind! Aaaaand some perks: first month is free rent, equinox gym right below us meaning there is a discount for parker residence(not sure how much but if youre interested give them a call!), common areas/business lounge (which are clean and spacious), and a GREAT coffee machine in the business lounge. Honestly, I absolutely love living here. I highly recommend Parker. read more

After a year and a half at The Parker, I will be moving to the other side of the Bay. I just wanted to take a moment to thank Sunny and his team for always doing everything within their power to help with any issue I was having and always showing flexibility and understanding. This was not an easy building to open up, and I am certain that this team has spent countless hours off the clock trouble shooting for residents or figuring out how to solve a problem....but still had time to make sure a delivery got to my unit. The attitude and professionalism and genuine courtesy (it still exists!) Shown by the entire team at the Parker has allowed me to feel comfortable and content. Thanks, Sunny and Janae for helping to make this a great place to call home (although, I gotta say that even for this market the apartments are overpriced!) We leased a one bedroom Parker Apartment about two months ago. The move in concessions were very good. The beautiful new facilities and convenient downtown location attracted us here. We appreciate how welcome Janae made us feel in the leasing process. A few maintenance issues have been taken care of very well by John. It has been fun to take out a Parker bicycle for a short ride and the business center shared space is very comfortable. We used Parker Wifi there before our own personal network was set up. Good package delivery and trash cardboard recycling is still being addressed. Parking on the lift in the garage took some time to get used to and I needed at call management once when access to my car was delayed by an open lift gate. We moved here from a larger house and I am very happy with downsizing to our new apartment. read more

Sunny Azizi is one of the best Property Managers we have come across- he is dedicated, extremely helpful, and amazingly responsive to tenant needs making Parker Apartments one of the best place to rent! After living here for more than a year, I could say Parker is for sure an awesome place to live in Berkeley. The current property manager Camille is very friendly and supportive. She goes above and beyond to make residents feel welcomed. The leasing consultant Danielle is also very nice and dedicated to provide the best living experience for us. Jorge, maintenance manager, has always been very prompt and responsive to service requests. Above all, it's plainly wonderful to live in such a positive and welcoming community. read more

Greystar Corporation, which manages Parker Apartments, is a company that demonstrates extreme disregard for their customers -- in many cases, (as was mine), stonewalling, lying, refusing to communicate/compromise and ultimately failing to follow through on their word. See their 'F' and 1-star ratings on numerous Better Business Bureau sites, as well as greystarnightmare.com for other consumer accounts. I signed a lease on a brand new unit at Parker Apartments in Berkeley, CA. At the time there was a two months free promotion which helped to compensate for the high cost of living there (~$3000/Studio). Within days of receiving the keys, it was apparent that there were substantial problems with the unit (poor lighting, poor privacy, erratic fire alarms and water leaking through the ceiling). Additionally, I learned of extra mandatory expenses (eg. fees for package/concierge services, water usage, etc.). My concerns were discussed with management several times. However, as there was no workable solution, I met with the assistant manager, returned the keys with a letter and offered $1500 (pro-rated at the full price of the studio unit) in the form of a "final payment" check. I fully believed that Parker Apartments would benefit from my early departure as they were no longer running the two months free special and could easily profit by renting to another tenant with the remaining six "free" weeks. I also firmly believed that this settlement offer was more than reasonable given the fundamental/construction problems with the unit/building and that no rent money was owed at that time. I was told the final decision was up to the Regional Director. Greystar promptly cashed the "final payment" check, when no money was owed and I heard no word contrary to my settlement offer from the Regional Director. However, months later, I was informed by Parker Manager, Sunny Azizi, that Greystar did not agree to my settlement offer and expected an additional ~$3000 from me as penalty for "breaking the lease". I was told that I had no option but to make additional payment in full or be referred to a collection agency. I wrote many letters and made exhaustive calls and attempts to speak with upper management in the hope to find a reasonable and amiable resolution -- at one point even offering an additional $1500 to settle the account and put the situation behind me. Ultimately, I reached the Regional Director, Whitney Ciraulo-Stuart, who indicated to me by phone that "she should be able to help find a workable solution." Many weeks went by with additional calls and emails from me and intermittent responses from her. All the while, I sought extensions from Greystar's accounts receivable department while we waited for the Regional Director and "ownership" to respond to my requests for compromise. I was told more than once by the Regional Director that I would have a response within hours. As such, I continued to wait and follow up with Whitney Ciraulo-Stuart, believing that she would honor her word, and at a minimum, follow through in responding to me. But, to this day, she never has. All this, until the accounts receivable department could no longer wait and I was forced to pay out or suffer detrimental consequences to my credit rating. There is no integrity or follow through at this corporation, at least with those who have any decision-making authority. Furthermore, it became abundantly clear that Greystar is solely focused on making profits at ANY expense. What's most ironic is that their website states that their "focus is on people, genuine relationships and shared values." Yet, their practices prove anything but. Please be advised and proceed with serious caution should you choose to engage or do business with any apartment community managed by Greystar Corporation. And, in my opinion and those of countless others, best to save yourself a "nightmare" and walk away. read more

Janae, the leasing consultant, was great at showing us the apartments and giving all information. She was flexible when we needed to re-schedule and gave us ample time to respond to her with our decision. Granted that we did not move forward with the process. We definitely felt very welcome visiting Parker and received excellent customer service. We would encourage anyone looking for housing to give Parker a chance. read more

I reserved judgment for sometime to settle in after my move-in. Rental options in Berkeley are rather limited, but that should not serve as an excuse to take renters for granted. The CONS of living in this community include: A parking garage that is never secured even though residents pay for secured parking and the Bay Area has a high crime rate, a package delivery process that is in such disarray that I have decided to just not online shop rather than face the prospect of another package lost by the front office staff (the packages are always "found" a month later somehow), unkempt common spaces - I had to use a scarf to cover my nose for a full month when I used the elevator because it smelled of trash. All of these problems are easily addressed with competent management and I hope The Parker decides to. It will have to if it hopes to keep the few tenants it has. read more

It has been a month since I moved into Parker Apartments, and I can honestly say that choosing Parker is one of the best decisions I've made. I moved to Berkeley last year and lived in 2 different apartment complexes, neither of which I was really able to call home. But my experience at Parker has been everything I could have hoped for and more. The amenities make me feel so spoiled - there's a beautiful, spacious business lounge where I do most of my studying (which also has an amazing coffee machine and a printer), there's a relaxing courtyard with couches, a TV, and a barbecue setup, and I get a free year-long membership at the Equinox fitness club. But what I love the most about Parker is the people who live and work here. Farokh and Sunny are the best managers I've had - both of them are so helpful and responsive to any and all inquiries, but most importantly they're kind and welcoming. John is always quick and thorough in fixing any maintenance issues I may have in my apartment, even though he's already so busy. I don't think I can ask for more - living in such a beautiful place with such awesome management and friendly residents makes me feel so lucky to call Parker my home. read more

The customer service at the leasing office is very terrible. We made several attempts to take a tour of the apartment. The first time we were just stopping by and the agent wasn't available at the moment but told us we could stop by in a hour and he could give us a tour. We did; however the office was closed. The second time, we tried to call them first to check their availability, but it kept going straight to voicemail, so we decided to stop by and try our luck, unfortunately no agent was available. We thought that's understandable since we didn't make an appointment first, so we took their advice and immediately scheduled an appointment for the next day, the agent also ensured that there will be someone to show us around. The next day, we arrived at the leasing office at the scheduled time but only found a notice on the door saying they are already closed for the day. Really? This is how they handle the business? Compared to other apartment touring experiences we've had so far, it feels like the agent at Parker Apartment don't really take the potential renters seriously and that's a deal breaker for me. We will not be coming back to this place. read more
